How many inches of space need to be above it for safety? I have a covered patio and don’t want to melt the soffit above. What is the minimum height of the assembled unit?

most companies with this type of heater recommend one to two feet clearance - we are using ours with only part of the pole so it is even lower - we find it more efficient in keeping warm us when across from us rather than high above us - two things to mention is that the cable of this particular heater is very short - we use an extension though they recommend not to and it is not very warm...not like the propane ones - the minimum height is roughly three feet which is what we have it at - hope this helps
