Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible Construction What looks to be a great fan, is actually a poorly designed and built piece of junk. The first clue to the shoddy workmanship was when I tried to install the mounting cover over the electrical outlet. The tolerances were so poor the screws would not go in properly. Then after a LONG time putting the blades on the thing (very inconvenient and time consuming routine), I came to the last step : mounting the light on the bottom. Here the tolerances were impossible to deal with. There were three screws required to mount the light socket, and three more used to affix the globe. NONE of the screws would go in easily, because the electrical fixture is too shallow to accommodate the wiring. So, after a long installation, the light globe could not be installed. Westinghouse needs to go back to the drawing board on this thing. The unit is going back to the store as quickly as I can get it there.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looks good, Great Price, No complaints! Entirely satisfied with this fan...it looks nice and sleek for the price. I hesitated buying it when I read the reviews but quickly realized that the previous reviewers were having issues not because of the fan and remote...its their wiring. I have 14/3 wiring in my bedroom where I installed it...therefore I'm able to control the light with the wall switch and the fan with the remote.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from only works with remote This fan/light will only work with a remote - you have to turn the light switch on, then press 'on' on the remote. If you then turn the switch off, then back on, the fan/light will be off until you press 'on' on the remote again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from quiet & elegant I bought this ceiling fan, first on looks, second on price for my bedroom. I was very suprised at how quiet it operates. The remote control is nice because if you wake in the night and want it on, you can simply reach for the remote control without leaving the bed! As in the review above, the only issue, is the wall switch, you need to leave it on, otherwise the remote does not work. If it were not for the wall switch issue, I would have rated this a 5, but don't let it put you off, its just a case of remembering to leave the wall switch on and get used to using the remote instead.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Nice but flawed It seems like a decent fan, but beware that this model seems to have no memory if you turn it off via the wall switch. If you try to turn it back on via the wall switch, nothing happens and you have to use the remote to turn it back on. That may work for some applications, but if you still want to use your wall switch, you should choose another model. All my other fans have a memory and it seems crazy that they make a fan that does not. I have seen others with the same issue so it is either how it is made or there is a bad batch of these units out there.

Does the remote control the light and the fan

We have wired the fan, per directions - however, when we turn on the wall switch nothing happens. It appears that you have to use the remote to turn on the light and the fan.

Same issue for us. It seems like a problem with the model as opposed to the particular unit. We plan to return ours as it is a ridiculous way to make a fan.

I would like to have this ceiling fan/light in my dining room but I'm wondering, is it bright enough for a dining room? Is the maximum a 60w bulb?

Asked by: Anonymous
Our recommended lamp wattage is 60W for incandescent bulbs. In order to get more light, you could use a 100W compact fluorescent which is only 23 - 25 watts. Hope that helps.
