Rated 1 out of 5 by from Start button stopped working We picked out this microwave as part of our appliance package for our new house just over three years ago and in that time, the start button stopped working on us several times. Normally it started working again after about a week (which is a long time when you have two littles that you normally microwave a lot of food for). This time it’s been almost a month and we can’t get it to work again. We tried finding instructions on how to remove the control panel but can’t even get it off to see if the wires are damaged. Really disappointing if we’re looking at having to buy a new microwave every three years.

Some of The buttons would stop working on the control panel, but in the past unplugging and plugging in again would resolve the issue. That is no longer working. Very disappointing as this matches our other whirlpool appliances. We haven't used the microwave much.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Only lasted a year This microwave looks nice, but it stopped working as soon as the year warranty was up. The microwave had very little use and still in mint condition. Whirlpool informed me that these microwaves only come with a 1 year warranty and that there are no parts or service available. I asked if there was anything they could do for me and they said I just have to buy a new microwave. I would have been willing to play ball if they offered a discount on a new product, but nothing was offered. I won’t be buying any whirlpool products in the future.

No issues until the second year (out of warranty) with the control panel, specifically the start button which deems it useless right now. Unable to use this basically brand new microwave at this point. I’ve researched online on how to repair, however it seems the control panel part is quite expensive and probably not worth repairing. I’m very hesitant on buying another model to fit the space and trim. At this point, I would not recommend this product. I would have avoided myself but like I said earlier It came with the house.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very Disappointed Bought this microwave just under 2 years ago as our new home did not support an over the stove product. Some of the number buttons no longer work or the clock reset buttons. I have a Whirlpool fridge, stove and dishwasher and have found your appliances to be very reliable in the past. I realize this microwave isn’t a high end model but we only use on rare occasions to reheat. I am so disappointed with this microwave, it’s just a piece of junk. Really expected more from the brand!

Part of the number display stopped working a few weeks ago, then the Start button quit working last week. An unplug/reset worked once. Because we have the unit built in with the trim kit, I'm afraid we may have to just buy another --- it would be nice if parts were available.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Another disappointed customer I came to this site to get information on getting a replacement touchpad - and found yet another page of reviews all saying the same thing - that this model keypad fails and there is no way to fix it. We have a wall oven /microwave set up. We have the trim kit for the microwave- so really wanted to keep the microwave so we didn’t have to bear the expense of replacing it all. The microwave number starting having issues at the one year mark - when the warranty ended so we thought we would live with it - but recently the lower portion of the keypad quit responding to touch - and now none of the bottom buttons work- INCLUDING the START which makes the unit useless ! The microwave often gives us a door error as well. I’m very disappointed and angry that we are forced to purchase the same unit to fit into our trim kit when there are known issues with the product. I also “upgraded “ to the whirlpool kit based on the brand name because I thought it was a quality product.

How far back are the front feet from the front of the microwave?

Would this fit if the shelf is 16 inches deep? I guess would also have to take the plug into consideration too?

Depth requirements depend upon the receptacle and its location within or outside of the recommended region. ■ Height dimension is critical: 17" (43.2 cm) minimum, 17¹⁄₈" (43.5 cm) maximum. ■ Width measurement has ±1/16" (2 mm) tolerance. ■ 3" (7.6 cm) minimum dimension is from the lower oven cutout ceiling to the microwave oven cutout floor. ■ Trim kit frame extends 1¹⁄₁₆" (2.7 cm) above and below the cutout opening. What would be the total dimensions with the trim kit?

Hi Rita, thank you for your question. YWMC30516HZ has a Trim Kit available in 27" MK2167AZ or 30" size MK2160AZ. Dimensions vary based on the width size you choose for the trim (27" or 30"). Trim Kit would require Cutout Depth(IN,inches) 22 3/4, Cutout Height(IN,inches) 17 and Cutout Width(IN,inches) 23 1/8. This is a great way to give the microwave oven an integrated look.
