Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very satisfied with our new dishwasher (This review was collected as part of a promotion.) We've been using our new dishwasher for a few weeks now and are very impressed with it. It is nice looking and quiet. If we use a rinsing liquid, the dishes come out extremely clean and dry. I haven't seen my wine glasses look so spotless. KEep in mind though, that you have to use a rinsing liquid to get this effect (and this is consistent with the manufacturer's instructions). If you don't, the dishes can come out very wet. Also, the cutlery rack is a bit awkward for us because half the slots are too small for our cutlery to fit in. We can lift up the covers though to solve that issue.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible Dishwasher Where to start? We use this dishwasher daily. It runs loud, long cleaning cycle, doesn't dry dishes, doesn't clean dishes, food trap and filter need to be cleaned every 3-4 washes, when the plastic interior gets nicked, black mildew builds up on it, I am constantly cleaning food sludge from the drain area. Utensils don't get washed by being on the door. The exterior smudges and is impossible to keep clean, no matter what stainless steel cleaning product you use on it. We use a the dishwasher tabs suggested by the company, Finish Rinse Aid every wash. I have nothing good to say about this Whirlpool product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Quiet - shh don't wake the baby! (This review was collected as part of a promotion.) I purchased one for my house after purchasing and installing the exact same model of Whirlpool dishwasher in our church kitchen 2 weeks earlier. Our old 23 year old model was still cleaning the dishes but the white Corelle-type cups on the top rack were coming out with what looked like tea stains on the inside only. I decided to take these cups to the church dishwasher and use our same detergent. The dishwasher was amazingly super quiet and in one wash all of the staining was gone. We have had ours only for one week and used it for 2 loads and everything is impressive! So happy with this purchase:)

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Poor Drying (This review was collected as part of a promotion.) I moved into a new build a month ago. Appliances were already installed so I didn’t have any choice. This dishwasher cleans well but even when I select the high heat dry function there is a ton of moisture left in the washer and my cutlery is always still wet when I unload no matter whether it’s an hour after or 8 hours after. My cutlery is starting to get rust stains because of it. I called the appliance store and they said it’s unfortunately a common issue. Not acceptable in my mind. I’ve had whirlpool appliances for over 20 years and trust in their quality, but this one is coming up short

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Value for money. Beauty with brains. My high end $1300 dishwasher from a different manufacturer suddenly died after less than 4 years of careful use. I was sad and frustrated too at this big loss. Expensive appliances should last more. After extensive research on the internet and exploring hundreds of reviews on different websites, I selected Whirlpool WDF540PADM (stainless steel) model. The looks and features are same as high end expensive dishwashers but price is just half of them. Working is perfect and I love the 1-hr wash cycle. Habit of placing dirty dishes in the dish washer after a light rinse in the sink will increase the life and efficiency of your dish washer. 1-hr wash cycle will be enough to get your dishes sparkling clean. This dish washer has stainless steel door but inner tub is made of plastic. It’s quiet, lots of room inside and looks classy. I am extremely happy with my purchase. Highly recommended.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Happy but not thrilled Pros: The dishwasher is quiet, which is nice. It also has enough space and I like the removable cutlery tray and that you can put it on the door of the washer for added room. Its easy to operate and gets all the food off Cons: This stainless steel makes fingerprints really noticeable. Also, the handle in the front is kind of an eyesore. Mostly, I'm disappointed with the drying. I had a Whirlpool before, and never had to use rinse aid. With this one, everything is wet unless I use rinse aid. I prefer not to use chemicals, so I was really upset by this. The product is good and works well otherwise, but I would not get it again.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Happy and disappointed (This review was collected as part of a promotion.) We bought this in May and received the end of the month. Previously our dishwasher was also a Whirlpool. We had it for 17 years with no problems until the motor died. This washer works very well, however after 5 months the motor dies and we had to have a new one put in. I guess they do not make them, as they say, like they used to. It seems that there may have been a bit of sand on a plate or something. With all the, literal garbage our first went through for 17 yrs, to have this die after five months? Not impressed with that aspect. When working it does a very admirable job. Still trying to determine how to use certain aspects....lol.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it I bought this one month ago. My previous dishwasher was 24 years old and hideous! It still had the rotational dial that clicked. This dishwasher is wonderful. It has tons of space so you dont need to play origami with your dishes. The bottom rack doesn’t have the cutlery basket in it so it allows for Ecen more space. It runs SUPER quiet. You can watch tv, talk on phone or sleep while its on, no problem. My previous machine was too noisy! Dishes come out clean and well dried. I installed it myself (young single female). Absolutely recommend.

When trying to add this dishwasher to my Home Depot cart, it says there are additional items recommended for proper installation, but the link to show to show those items won’t load. What are the items?

Asked by: Vanm
Hello Vanm. Yours is an awesome question for it covers a topic not many of us would think about. I strongly recommended going through the Installation Instruction PDF available on https://api.whirlpoolcentral.ca/_resources/documents/WDF540PADM_installation_instruction_en.pdf in order to find out what the additional items recommended for proper installation are, hoping you're able to order them for your to have your dishwasher correctly installed and working. Does the 1-hour wash include drying?

Asked by: Nicole
Great Question! The 1 hour wash cycle is just for the wash cycle. The optional heat drying option would add more time to the cycle. Thanks for reaching out!

How many gallons of water does this use per cycle? Does Whirlpool list this info for their dishwashers anywhere?

Asked by: Rachel
Hi Rachel, for WDF540PADB the gallons per cycle are listed in the Use and Care Guide Page 8. The amount of water varies depending on the cycle selected. You can find this information on whirlpool.ca under the Manuals link. This dishwasher comes equipped with a Soil Sensor that determines how dirty dishes are and adjusts the Normal cycle as needed to make sure dishes come out clean. Thank you for your question!
