This is mostly a good product, and the pattern does match the associated LifeProof flooring fairly well. It's a bit unforgiving during installation, as there isn't a lot of wiggle room in measurements or you'll either get a gap between the flooring and the nosing, or the nosing won't fit over the end of the stairs. It's also important to know (but not called out in the instructions) that you can't really get a second chance at it - once you press the nosing down into the metal track, pulling it back out will almost certainly ruin it. It's pretty expensive for what it is, so wasting it is definitely something to avoid.

The installation instructions requires gluing a 3/8" strip of the flooring material to the front of the tread after the existing nosing is removed. This is in front of the metal u channel that the vinyl nose is snapped into. This added significant time to the installation and could have been part of the nosing profile. This method left the nosing unsupported and flexible. The nose of a stair is where all the pressure is when stepping on the tread and is very disconcerting to have it flex. I am sure the product will get loose after repeated use. I resorted to a wood block 1/2" * 5/16" high to support the nosing at this point. This could have been designed into the product. This is a very expensive accessory and a poor design and could be dangerous.

The only issue I have is it comes in one length of 96". I do not know of many residential homes that have an 8ft staircase so there is alot of waste for 1 stair nose molding I only needed 36".

Rated 1 out of 5 by from need more options I was able to make this work after modifying it. I had 1" steps with an existing bull nose. I had to cut the flat piece from the new bull nose and used a heat gun to reform it to fit the existing. You will not find how to do that in any video or instruction manual. I wished it came in different options to avoid all that work. the finish product does look great though.

I actually couldn't use the track where I installed it and cut the plastic track pieces off the bottom with a multitool and glued it straight on the floor flush. Matches the floor wonderfully and seems like a quality piece. My only minor complaint is how long it is. I used about 1/3 of the product. Seems like they should offer different sizes.

I bought LifeProof Multi-Width x 47.6 in. Seasoned Wood Luxury Vinyl Plank Flooring (19.53 sq. ft. / case) for a rv and used this trim and it matched perfectly. Other then that I don’t know. teresa

How does the height line up with a 6.5mm thick Lifeproof Seasoned Wood plank? Will it be flushed with the LVP plank? Or will there be a "bump" on top of every step where this trim and Lifeproof plank will meet? That would be annoying. Some of the photos that reviewers have posted here show that this trim and the LVP plank are flushed. How did that happen?

It is not exactly flush but their is also not a large bump. The way the stair nose is designed to be used is that only the very edge sits on top the the flooring. You need to leave a significant gap between the edge of the stair (or floor / for a top step) and where the LVP flooring stops. You also need to cut the bullnose edge off the existing wood stair you are putting this flooring on top of. If you look at the Home Depot product pic there is a flat edge on the underneath part of the stair nose. You want that flat against the existing wood stair. And you will also see two odd short pieces of protruding underneath the stair nose. That part does NOT go on top of the LVP flooring. It goes in front of or where the flooring ends so that only that last tapered edge actually sits on top of the LVP. This makes a very slight bump up.

What specific vinyl planks can be used on the stair treads? In the LifeProof Installation booklet, it says the warranty is void if used on stairs. And if you have used the planks on stairs anyway, how are they held in place, by the track from this molding?

How is this part installed on the steps and what glue is used?

Bracket and screws are provided. Instructions provide exact measure for placement of bracket. You must cut a strip of flooring and glue under back edge of stair nose in order to match height of flooring. Just about any household glue will work, as this is just there as a temporary hold so you can place the molding over the bracket. After that it's locked in between the bracket and the molding and can't move anyway. Only tricky part for me was lining up the molding and then pushing it into the bracket. It's a tight fit, hard to push down and once it's in you really can't remove it. I lined it up length wise and then started at one end. Once I got it going, I used a rubber mallet to get it all the way down into place.
