So far, it is holding up to our intense winds, but vinyl sometimes does not hold up well under the intensity of wind, snow, sun, and altitude of the area where we live. Time will tell. In the meantime, we are pleased with its sturdiness.

We recently purchased a home with old wooden rails that have rotted out which must be replaced. We chose the Manchester for its curved design and vinyl fencing-- no more wood! The gate was very easy to put together with most pieces sliding into place. We used a drill for the screws but could have used a phillips screwdriver, too. We can't wait for the winter thaw to be able to digs holes and install this gate in the back yard. The gate opening is 42 inches which is large enough for our lawn mower, garden wagon and wheel barrow. The measurement from the outside post to the other is 49 1/2 inches.

My gate was missing some hardware, I contacted the customer service number provided and they immediately sent out the parts I was missing. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE! The directions are straightforward and easy to follow. The gate is easy to build. The posts are easy to install into the ground and install the gate onto them. I am very pleased with this gate. It works well with the MANCHESTER FENCE KIT (2 pack).

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Manchester Fence Gate by Zippity is very nice and looks sturdier than id thought seeing as its vinyl. Its higher height makes it perfect for what i need it for & it will look great when i match it to the Manchester fence panel later on (another project.) This was very easy to put together just following the manual with all the hardware included. You only need a drill and everything else just slides into place. Im impressed by how the white painted screws blend into the white vinyl without being noticable, the same with the black screws on the hinges -none of them lost their paint despite me using a drill on them. It includes the fence post and post extensions & post/rail caps. Im choosing to permanently cement the gate & matching panels cos i think it will hold up to the gusty winds where i live. Assembly is easily done by one person and takes minutes! A nicely engineered vinyl gate with quality hardware -the manufacturer has made a believer out of me cos before this id have never chosen vinyl over wood.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It is winter now, but I’ll be using this Manchester Vinyl Picket Gate with posts to bridge the gap between my home and my garage, to not only give it a decorative look, but also so I can pass my snowblower through. My snowblower is 30-inches wide, and this gate opening is 42 ½-inches wide. I just swing the door open and out I go. Putting this package together was a snap. Black screws go with the black hardware, white screws go with the white gate parts. In fastening the L-shaped corner brackets, you can use a 20-degree pivot holder to screw the Phillips screw using a drill, or a small Phillips screwdriver by hand. I have an old drill with a bulky head that didn’t give me the clearance I needed, hence the tip I just mentioned. I love how I will never have to paint this and the fact that all hardware was included. I can’t wait for the ground the thaw so I can install this in the Spring!

Can the gate be securely installed without using concrete?

The gate hinge post is recommended to be installed with concrete. However if you choose not to, you'll probably be okay. You may start to see sagging or leaning of the gate post over time. THis is all dependant on your landscape and soil conditions. If you do not want to use concrete, gravel would be another option.

Can the gate portion be cut to fit a narrower opening?

Thank you for your interest in our Manchester Gate! This gate, with posts included, needs 49.5" of space so you would need to cut roughly 2.5" off of the width for your project. This can be done using a fine-tooth blade, the only tricky part is you would need to create new slots in your top and bottom rails for your vertical stiles to fit into. We recommend using a Dremel tool for this task, but it is not a simple alteration if you do not consider yourself fairly handy. Are separate posts required for corners?

Thank you for your interest in our Manchester Gate! This gate/fence does not require any additional posts, regardless of the angle. This gate is designed to be next to Manchester fence panels, but not attach to them. If you would like to attach the gate posts to the fence panel, you can purchase brackets to do so at your local hardware store. How would using 2 of these gate kits work to make a larger opening for getting the riding mower in and out? How would the 2 gates connect?

Hello, That's a great question. You can purchase 2 gates and install them side by side. You would only use 2 of the 4 posts provided. The 2 posts would go on the outside of the 2 gates. The gates would meet in the center and the latch would go on 1 gate and the catch would go on the other. When installing a double gate I highly recommend purchasing 1 drop rod and a caster to help provide stability and support in the center of the gates. can the gate be painted

So, this is a tricky question. You can technically paint the fence but, the moment you paint it, you're creating problems for yourself. It voids the warranty. It requires a lot of paint to actually change the color. And worst of all, you'll need to re-paint it more often than you would like to. Because of all this, we don't recommend it. However, if you really, really have a burning desire for an alternate shade, you'll want to paint it with special epoxy-based paint Fusion by Krylon. But really- while it's possible, we don't recommend it. Kindly, Russell
