Rated 4 de 5 de par Very Good tub for small spaces I purchased this tub one year ago for a bathroom update. It fit the (small) space perfectly and went in with little trouble. I've had no problem with "chipping" the finish. My only comment is that I think the "grit" on the tub floor should be grittier. It's not slick, but it's not much of a tread. Also, water could drain faster, but that's not a problem. Perfect tub for low threshold and small- to medium-sized people. I didn't purchase it because of the cost, but low cost is a real bonus.

This is an unpacking report on the American Standard Princeton series steel bathtub. I read so many negative reports about bathtubs that I felt obliged to chime with my experience, so far. We are replacing our harvest gold tub from the 1970s, as part of our bathroom remodel. That tub is porcelain/steel and that is what we wanted to replace it with. Our concern was that current tubs were not of the same quality as our 1970s tub. My side by side comparison could find no differences between the two tubs. The drains hole is at the same level. Slope of the back is the same, as is its height and width. Also, the gauge of the metal appears to be the same. The tub arrived in perfect condition. There were no chips or cracks in the porcelain and the overall quality of the porcelain appears to be good. We were agonizing about potential pitfalls of replacing our tub but feel much better now that we had a good look at this new tub. Oh yea. The harvest gold went out of style shortly after we purchased our house. We had the tub sprayed white, which has held up well for over 30-years.

My alcove is 63 5/8 inches so I need to fill it in. I want to make a ledge at the back of the tub which would be somewhat level with the tub. Could I cut off the vertical part of the flange?

Posée par: Gigi58
Gigi, Thanks for the question on the American Standard tub. You cannot remove the tiling flange on tubs, it is an integral part of the tub and could not be removed. Your American Standard Consumer Connection Team.

I got this tub to my house. I opened it up to check measurements for plumbing. Noticed there was a crack in the black molding across the bottom. The front apron separated from the support that connects to the tub from a crack. will this be an issue?

Posée par: bbaum
This may be an issue and shipping damage. Please contact American Standard customer service. The technicians may want to see a photo of the issue when you call.

I am curious about the Deep Soak overflow drain. The website lists it as a feature but the spec sheet you provided on a previous request shows an integral overflow and a water depth of less than 9". Is that still true or is there an updated spec sheet?

Posée par: JimU
If you order the tub with the integral drain then a deep soak drain could not be used.
