Rated 5 de 5 de par Nice valve, simple way select shower/handheld/tub, careful on hole size The valve is very good quality, has a nice solid feel to it when used. It is perfect to select the flow to showerhead, hand shower, and tub with a single valve. It does not have any stops or detents. so you just turn it around until the water comes out where you want in one of the three positions. The valve body can be oriented any way needed to plumb it, and the handle set to any rotation position that makes sense to the user. It may reduce your shower pressure/volume a bit since it is yet another valve restriction point after your main shower control, so if you have low water pressure you may notice it. My pressure is 70psi so no problem. The faceplate (separate kit) is TOO SMALL, so be careful about cutting the hole for it. The hole size needed does not correlate well with the blue plastic piece that is supposed to indicate where the tile is to be cut around. Instead, set aside the plastic piece and assemble the faceplate and handle assy kit n it before cutting any holes. Take a look at the assembled shaft behind the faceplate and use the minimum hole needed for this section on the tile or outer surface (probably about 1 inch). Otherwise you may end up doing the tile twice to fix a gap between the tile hole and the small faceplate. Am Std should really make the faceplate about 1 inch larger diameter, no reason not to and would avoid this risk. Or redesign the blue plastic piece so it makes sense.

The R430 spec sheet says, "NOTE: Cannot be used as a shut-off valve." Is it OK to install R701 valves downstream of the R430, on each of the 3 branches? My preferred configuration would be: hot and cold lines come in to a R510 mixing valve; mixed water goes out to a R430 diverter; then each branch of the diverter leads to three separate R710's followed by their respective outlet fixtures (tub spout, shower head, hand shower). To be clear: I understand that only one outlet will function at a time. Someone I asked about this told me that pressure would build up if it was configured like I suggest, damaging the diverter or mixing valve. Is this true? I need an expert's OK on this configuration before moving ahead. Thanks for your help!
Posée par: Jesse
There’s no need to use the R430 and R701 together. I would suggest that they use the R523. In this configuration, you wouldn’t need the R430 diverter since there would be 3 separate R701s…just like the instructions show. This is not true…again, you wouldn’t need the R430.

Can the diverter be installed in an horizontal position (i.e., deck mounted) for a tub to go between a tub spout and a deck mounted handheld shower?

Posée par: Anonyme
No, we would not reccomend installing this diverter in a horizontal position. It would not perform properly.

Is there any reason this valve cannot be used as a two-inlet/one outlet valve?

I am looking for an in-wall valve that will switch between two hot water sources (a conventional ater heater and a solar batch heater). In other words, do you think I can run water flow backwards through this valve - put inlets where outlets are intended and vice versa? Thanks for your (constructive) comments!
