Rated 2 de 5 de par feels solid, but quickly damaged Installation was fairly easy, but it took longer than 45 minutes. After 2 hours or so, it was up. It looked good, felt solid, and was quite airtight. A week later, with my wife trying to go out on a windy day, the door flew all the way open. With no wind chain to stop the door, the closer overextended, mangling the closer and brackets. The frame must have been tweaked, too, as air now leaks around the edges. I paid more for what I thought would be a quality brand, but a simple design flaw makes it a bad investment. Twenty-five dollars in repair parts for every windy day around here is way too expensive. Add your own wind chain for a great door, but that will void the warranty.

Pro: Pre-hung feature is great, installation went well, nice concept Con: Door has a design flaw where bottom window is embedded in a groove that leads to the interior of the door (but the groove does not appear to have any sealant in it)... thus the groove channels water to the interior of the door. First rainstorm, I watched water pour in through that groove and pool on my oak threshold (the threshold I was trying to help protect). Yes it eventually drains through the ends of the sweep, but slowly and scarily because it almost looks like it could overwhelm the threshold lip when coming down hard. Double Con: Anderson customer support... pretty awful so far. They have suggested I caulk the exterior of my $310 door... really?

Rated 2 de 5 de par 4000 is much better! I got this model, for its retractable screen, for the back of the house. I got the 4000, for its better sound proofing, for the front of the house. The 4000 has been great and given me no problems. This one, the lock keeps catching inside the box. I have to unscrew the plate, to get it to work again. Also, the latch will often not retract when closing. I have to turn the knob to close it. The damper screw keeps unscrewing. Every few weeks I have to adjust it, because the door is slamming (never had a damper do this). The retraceable scree has been great, and I use it often, but everything is a big regret.

Installed very easily using both the video and installation instructions. Remember you have to purchase the lock set / door handle separately which adds another $50 to the cost. I've had it installed nor for a few month and love it. The pull down screen is great for instantly having fresh air or push it up for storm window. I picked it up at the store so I can't comment on any delivery however; the box was undamaged and the product was packed very well to keep it from being damaged. Can't go wrong with Andersen window/door products. I would recommend this product. John..

Rated 4 de 5 de par Overall a good door, but... Andersen made a design flaw with the jamb bracket being two pieces(the jamb bracket and the jamb bracket base). These two pieces EASILY come apart from each other and break. Found that out three times in the first two days of owning the door. And you cannot buy individual replacement parts. The brackets are part of a $25.00 closing mechanism kit. I solved the problem by buying a different jamb bracket at my local Ace Hardware for only $3.50. I have been happy ever since.

Rated 2 de 5 de par Look at a different brand! Buy another door! I purchased this via Home Depot (and my issue is not with them) -- but with Anderson themselves. The door is only a few years old and the bracket to hold the door open is defective and has ripped off the door multiple times now to the point I can not install again. Anderson support (which is in the Philippines) took the serial number and came back to tell me how I broke the door -- really? ITS THEIR DEFECTIVE HINGE THAT WILL NOT CLOSE THAT BROKE THE DOOR ... frustrated as this is one of two Anderson doors and both have issues!

Just had this door installed today. overall, the quality of the door frame and operations look solid. Locking mechanism is strong and door closes smoothly and consistently. My only concern is the quality of the screen, as it feels VERY delicate and I even noted that some of the screen wires were uneven/wavy in a few different sections, which should not have passed quality control/inspection. Perhaps Home Depot/Anderson Window will see this review and opt to repair/replace. Time will tell if these fray or break open.....

Rated 4 de 5 de par Attractive, nice features, needs designed weather stripping to be considered a strorm door Pro: Attractive and the roll up screen is a very nice feature. Con: Construction is sturdy but consider this a screen door and not a storm door. When the movable glass panel is up, there is a significant gap between it and the frame. It lacks weather stripping. Wind does and potentially rain will come through the door at this gap.

Can I add a 2nd closer and or wind chain?

our current storm door has been damaged and damaged the door jamb because if being blown open in the wind. I noticed this only has 1 closer but would like to add a 2nd and it possibly a wind chain.
Posée par: mdp006
I would not suggest adding anything to the top of the door. The roll screen is in this area and you will probably destroy it.

Can I use a different type of handle?

I just installed this door and the handle interfere with my keyless smart lock, therefore the door can close. Can I use a different type of handle being that the door already come with the preset opening? I really don't want to change my keyless lock
Posée par: JessMora
An alternative solution would be to change which side the door opens on. So if you have a right handed door now that interferes with your smart lock, you can change it to a left handed storm door. This is usually less desired because you are opening two doors on different sides, but it will work and is a possible solution for you without having to move or change your smart lock.

When the top glass pane is lowered, it appears that the retracted screen comes down with it. Is there a way to separate the two so that the glass can be lowered to self-store, and the screen remains retracted, leaving the top of the door uncovered by either the screen or the window?
Posée par: Jill
Not really. The frame for the screen overlaps the frame for the glass and the screws for the latch go into both frames. There is also a rivet under the latch making it even more difficult to separate the two frames. It would require quite a bit of modification to make them operate independently.

Do you install storm door - we need a left hand, white aluminum storm door. Can you give us an estimate for the whole package?
Posée par: Ludy
Sorry but I do not install these doors. I had someone install it for me and it was a good thing as the door opening needed adjustment because of height of the opening was an inch too high.

Is a 36x80? door considered special size

Posée par: Marcia
Thank you for your question. The Andersen 3000 Series Self-Storing 36 inch by 80 inch door is considered a standard size. You may visit the nearest Home Depot Store in your area to check the display doors and inquire on how to order a new door. - Irene

The bottom of the door(opening, not jam) does not seal tight to the doorway. The top is tight but the bottom is not. This has the security lip so that someone is not able to pry it, but with it not fitting tight you could easily get inside with a tool. Cold air also flows in. The door is square and closes nicely, I just cant figure out how to adjust this. Anyone have a suggestion?
Posée par: Jim
Given that the top pic hits the jamb and the bottom doesn’t, the door unit or the wall itself is not plumb. You’ll need to shim out the bottom of the Andersen frame or somehow shim the door casing itself
