Despite all the metal pieces, nuts, bolts, screws, etc. inside the box, it was not terribly complicated to put together. You will need at least 2-3 people to put this shed together. You can do a lot of pre-assembly before actually putting the shed together, which will save you time in the long run (roof beams, front and back roof gables and front doors). If you would like to insulate your shed, use the 1" board insulation. You can also ventilate the shed if need be by having vents cut into the front and back roof gables. Very happy with my purchase and highly recommend this shed!!!

Towards the end of construction, nothing seemed to fit. Very hard to reach the top to complete the roof, even with a ladder.

As is, I have informed Home Harware. We had the exact problems mentionned below : 1) Days and days to install; 2) holes that don't fit; 3) product that becomes easily damaged. But the worst was that it did not even last till the winter. with one snowfall, this is what it looks. The company refuses to adhere to the warranty, stating that we are supposed to remove the snow from the roof. When you buy a shed in Quebec, for a cottage, you expect it can withstand a little bit of snow. Ours did not make it to mid-December. How much snow do you get in the first two weeks of December in Quebec ? Maybe 5 inches! Stay away from this product. And think twice before buying from a company that does not expect its product to support winter.

Rated 1 de 5 de par poor quality control we purchased this shed at the end of 2014 for our new home. Delivery date was great - putting the shed together following the instructions was very time consuming and tedious. The walls went up great. The problem started with putting the roof together - none of the holes would line up properly had to re-drill the holes to get it to line up. We caulked the old holes so it wouldn't leak - only to discover that it had other major leaks the water would come in through the capping. We had to caulk all the holes within the capping to get it to stop leaking. Would not recommend this product to anyone - best recommendation - DO NOT BUY it. Quality control is bad.

Rated 5 de 5 de par A Challenging Puzzle, Level up The instructions could use a lot of revision, with the help of people who are first timers putting one together. Photos of how the parts go together even in grayscale would help. I panicked a lot because I thought I was short on parts, but it always worked out. A hand held power screw driver with the exact right philips bed bit is an absolute must have, and it has to be a smaller hand held because you have to hold it over your head a lot! A good medium size ladder with a tool tray on top about $40 will help a lot. And a good "light weight" ladder to get on the roof. I'm 5'5" and 120 lbs, so the roof could support my weight splayed out on top to use the hand drill to batton down the roof panels. But some of the Bolts and Nuts that anchor the roof panels really needs a person with a socket wrench or tool wrench on the inside to hold the nut while the screw is turned outside on top. I used silver duct tape to "tape the socket wrench to the ceiling" a lot of time so it would not turn, just enough so friction would hold it in place and tighten up. Two people would be ideal.. but my Mom is elderly and I didn't have any help. Some weather strip tape comes with the kit, but you really should got get some at the Depot, its usually called weatherstrip tape, looks very similar and is in the water heater and hvac area in the back.. its often hard to find.. but absolutely essential to have enough. Buy washers! They don't include enough plastic washers.. you need these to keep the screws from chemically interacting with the painted surfaces on the outside.. if you can't get plastic, then get metal, you'll need them in some places. The edges of the roof are held down by screwing the same size screws into the edges of the frame.. the screws are "way" too short to cover the distance, but extra long screws same threads and heads, just much longer. My Mom held a flashlight near dusk inside the building shining through the predrilled holes in the edge frames.. so I could see where to "aim" the screws through the roof panels to get started into the holes on the inside upper edge frame.. helped a lot. Thanks Mom! The paint is thin, and scratches easily, but if your careful looks stunningly good when your done. If I did model painting and had the time, I would have prepainted with thicker hardier paint.. but it does look good when your done. I used concrete blocks to provide a sort of pier and beam frame work with 2x6 lumber and a lot of roofing franges or deck things to build a sturdy frame, then put 3/4 inch plywood, two layers on top of that. Then followed the directions and built the rest up. Bought 20 "lag screws" and used a powered electrical drill (heavy duty normal one not the hand held battery one) to anchor the frame to the base. There are holes already in the bottom of the frame for the purpose. Wished I had time to paint the plywood base and make it water proof.. but it was a 9 hour drive to get there and get home.. and the project took me (with no experience in building things) 6 days to clear the land, build the base.. build the shed.. and build the porch. The porch is a combination of play sand.. some red patio stones, and a lot of time and patience with a broom. Mom started to drive the lawn mower into the shed, but we decided to push it over the porch and into the shed.. the gradient wasn't bad and it was relatively easy using just my muscle power. We bought some heavy duty foam ribbon to stuff in the four corners in the bottom and top and the midway wall sides. This block a lot of small air spaces and should keep out insects. Mom placed Mothballs and Spray Foam to seal it up better. It's not air tight and small animals cannot realistically get inside.. but we just weren't sure what to expect in Missouri. A few corners of material were not perfect from the factory.. over cutting away of material, but we worked around that and it all still fit together. two of the door track feet.. the black plastic ones.. were damaged. I hope to contact them to get replacements, but the doors hang so its not a critical component.. would just be nice to have.

How much weight can the roof hold?

I am thinking of snow in the winter. My father in law had a metal building that collapsed in the winter due to the weight of the snow. He said although they look nice they are not very strong. That was a few years ago. I am wondering if they have improved the buildings any

Hi AMore The Red Barn 10' x 8' shed is rated at 20 lbs. per square foot or 1,600 lbs. The Red Barn is a new concept shed that requires approximately 100 screws put in the channels from the inside of the shed. If the instructions are followed step by step, there will not be a problem. I hope this helps.
