Hello Matilda Yes, our vinyl fence can be used for this application, however you will need to shorten the vinyl posts and insert them over the structural posts for surface installation: 1001653874. It is important to make sure that the structure is adequate under the composite boards, in order to have a solid grip to screw the posts so that the installation resists high winds. We also recommend that you check with your municipality to ensure that this installation meets municipal regulations. Thank you

I intend to replace my cedar fence with this vinyl fence. Can it be used with my existing wood post? Thanks.

this summer I replaced my 25 year old pressure treated pine fence with the PVC. I replaced my old posts partly because they were old - and I wanted a deeper post hole with more cement than before to ensure high winds did not push the fence but more importantly the horizontal paneling "hooks in" to the vertical PVC posts. so I think it would be very difficult to retain the old cedar posts. hope this helps.

The overview says the installed dimensions are 71"X91" but the specifications say 72"X96", which one is it? Also, what exactly is the limited lifetime warranty ? could you explain about it ?

Hi Daniel, The portion of the panel that you see once it is installed is 70''x91'' The distance between the top of the top rail and the ground is 72'' (2'' clearance between the ground and the bottom rail) 96'' is the distance between the posts (center to center). Can I shorten the width? I.e if I do not need 8 feet wide, only need 6.

Hello, Yes it is possible. You only have to determine the number of boards required to achieve the desired panel width and shorten the top and bottom rails, so that they exceed the width of the panel by at least 1'' on each side, so that they can be inserted into the posts. In the bottom rail, there is an aluminum insert. Be sure to remove it before cutting the rail. The aluminum piece will have to be cut separately and then re-inserted into the bottom rail. If necessary, you can also adjust the width of the panel by cutting the first and or the last vinyl board at the ends to reduce the width for a perfect fit. The trim strips included in the kit and going to the ends of the panel will hide the cut without affecting the aesthetic aspect. Thank you
