Rated 5 de 5 de par Don’t pay attention to the poor reviews. The people leaving poor reviews are not using the product correctly. #1. Wax shouldn’t really be used on a high traffic surface, like a kitchen table. That requires several coats of a polyurethane or polycrylic. #2 All waxes (or even paints for that matter) need a minimum of 30 days to cure (or fully harden). Wiping, even with water, a freshly waxed surface is just asking for trouble. #3 Waxing isn’t a one and done finish. It should be reapplied every year or so. Bottom line...do a little research before trying out a new product. And BEHR adding just a little more info to the can would be helpful to those people who are new to chalk paint and waxing.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Do not waste your money!! I just “finished” my coffee table project.. I painted two coats of Classic Noir I had specially mixed for me, and finished with wax. I watched videos and read instructions on how to use the wax since I’ve never done it before. My table is left with white crumbles of wax everywhere. I’ve buffed and reapplied but the wax still reappears. There are streaks of paint being stripped every time I buff the wax and still black areas of my table are left with a wet feeling that will not go away no matter how much I buff it in. I am extremely disappointed given the amount of time and money I’ve put in so far. Everything about this wax is awful.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Wipes or washes off even with a dry cloth. I painted my entertainment center with the white chalk paint, followed by clear wax, then applied the dark brown wax for an aged look. This was done about 45 days ago. I needed to wipe something off that the kids got on it when and it literally took the brown wax off with it. I’m not happy with this product I spent a lot of money and time redoing this piece and now it seems I need to take it back out to the garage and I guess try to put some sort of clear coat on it?? If this wax can not be wiped down with a damp cloth then it really should state that on the can. I’m attaching a photo of my piece and two other photos, one is a damp paper towel and the other is a dry paper towel.

Rated 2 de 5 de par Left white spots. Made life difficult [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Because I love everything else behr i figured I would love this wax. That was not the case. I was working on a commission piece for a customer, my piece was sanded, primed, and beautifully painted. Here comes the wax. Hassle free paint job out the window. After letting the wax dry I came back to find in some areas it was white and in others it was splotchy. Buffed it and still. White spots. This wasn’t the first time or paint job where it has occurred. Super frustrating to have to fix a problem when you’re depending on a good product. Sad to say I won’t be purchasing this wax anymore.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Wax completely removes with damp cloth Painted a chest, dresser, and nightstand with chalk paint and finished with white wax. I loved the finished look, even though it was a bit of work. But I expected the work and followed the directions to the letter. To my surprise, days after completing the project a damp cloth completely removed the wax. No where on the wax labeling does it state that water will remove it. That is very important information to know. What if I had done a dining table, something that would be wiped down with water regularly.

Rated 3 de 5 de par not certain I bought the paint and wax from a very helpful sales associate at Home Depot. Paint worked great! After waiting 1-2 days I applied to separate coats of wax and it looked amazing. However, it's on a side table and a few days later I was wiping an area where a glass had been placed. It wiped the wax right off, just like that!! Now I'm wondering if I should put some sort of clear coat on the top (after I reapply the wax again) It says it's not necessary though

Rated 1 de 5 de par Behr you disappoint Have always used Behr Paint. Enjoy doing little home / craft projects. Just used Behr Chalk Decorative Paint in Red Pepper for my kitchen table and 4 chairs. Paint was easy to use and clean up. Let the paint dry for 4 hours then applied Behr decorative finish wax. I let the wax sit for 12 hours then buffed it with a lint free rag. Table and chairs looked great. 48 hours later I had to wipe a spot on the table with a damp rag and all the black from the wax wiped off. With just a damp rag and a light wiping all the black comes off. Made a huge mess and now I have to refinish the table or buy a new product. Will not be using Behr wax ever again

Rated 5 de 5 de par Only wax I use now I refinish, restore and upcycle furniture for a living. And I'm definitely a wax girl whenever possible, so I've used plenty of wax, all different brands, paste and liquid. Behr clear wax is my absolute favorite over chalk paints. Leaves a smooth and durable finish with just a bit of sheen after buffing. A little goes a long way for sure. You won't be disappointed in this wax

can i use this wax on freshly sanded pieces, or is it only to be used over chalk paint?
Posée par: TRACY
Hi TRACY, thank you for your question. We wouldn't recommend applying our wax on uncoated/bare surfaces, as it's meant to be used to seal your paint coat. Hope this info helps. Have a marvelous Monday, and best of luck with your project! -Joanna

I painted my coffee table chalk white. Can I use the dark wax to tone down the white a little bit for an aged look? Or will it turns very dark?

Posée par: Chi
Hi Chi, thank you for your question. Our Dark Chalk Decorative Wax can be used on your surface to make it appear more aged. The opacity (darkness) of the white coating can be increased or decreased depending on how much of the wax you add. We'd suggest applying a small amount on a small test area, and buffing it out to see if you're okay with the finish or if you'd like to add more wax to darken it. It'd be best to add the wax in small increments, buffing it out, and then adding more if needed instead of adding a large amount on your surface to start with. We hope this information helps. Best of luck with your project. -Joanna

I used chalk paint and then sanded and waxed. A glass of ice water leaves a ring on the table. Do I need a sealer over the wax?
Posée par: DurbanGirl
Hi DurbanGirl, Thank you for your question. I'm very sorry to hear about the ring that was left behind. Behr Wax Decorative Finish should not be topcoated because it's quite flexible. For added protection, the wax can be removed with mineral spirits before sealing Behr Chalk Decorative Paint with a water-based clear sealer. Behr Fast-Drying Water-Based Polyurethane is an excellent choice. Please feel free to reach out with any additional questions you may have. Good luck with your project! ~Doris
