Rated 3 de 5 de par OK but not what was expected I bought the heater thinking it would be much better than the electric heater I wanted to replace. What I found was 1) there is a very noticable klang or metal sound when it goes on or off.( old 20 year old heater didnot do that) 2) when they made these they were kind of skimpy with the material other heaters have deflectors at the top and bottom to deflect most of the heat into the room. These are just retanglular boxes with a heater inside. (no deflectors at all) 3) I thought they would retain heat better than they do. Sorry but I don't think they are worth the extra cost. over regular baseboard heaters..

Rated 5 de 5 de par Love this baseboard! I've had Cadet's softheat hydronic electric baseboards in my house for 7 yrs and am really happy with them. They are far more efficient that regular baseboards and have paid for themselves over the years in utility savings. They are a bit slow to heat up, but once they are heating, they put out a smooth, even heat that has no 'edge' to it like regular baseboards do. They tick a bit as they heat up, but it's not obnoxious, tis the sound of heat!

Rated 5 de 5 de par great product.....read my review i have a 2 story home unfourtenatly we never had great heat upstairs because of small duct work that was used. i eliminated and capped off all 4duct going up to my bedrooms and replaced them with hydronic baseboard heaters. WOW pretty much sums it up. very quit comfortable heat. by far the best heat i've ever felt. great great great product. i highly reccomend. my installation was a little expensive but other than that no complaints. i was also able to use digital wall thermostat which made it look that much better. thank youy homedepot for carrying this product. i used 2 1000watt hydronic heaters for my smaller bedrooms which measured around 150 square feet and for my bigger rooms which measured 200 square feet i used 2 one in each room 1500 watt hydronic heaters. only down fall is that i had to use 2 wall thermostats because each thermostat can only handle up to 3500 watt. so i wired 1 1000watt with 1 1500 watt to one thermostat and did the same with the other 2 rooms. good luck. my heating problems have been answered!!!!!

Rated 5 de 5 de par This baseboard heater replaced a 50 year radiator and I,m so happy with the upgrade Beautiful sleek design . Space was a factor and this heater makes my small kitchen appear larger. Easy to clean under because I installed above baseboard . Heats evenly and needed only one. No more radiator key & bleeding. Noiseless . Fits perfectly in my kitchen,s design. Ordering online was painless. No trekking through endless aisles . Delivery was fast and arrived timely. Packaging was secure. Instructions were easy to read and follow.

Rated 5 de 5 de par More expensive, but worth it These are more expensive than the traditional electric baseboard, but I think it is worth it. Recently installed this product to replace an old, defunct traditional electric baseboard. It is larger overall than the old one, but it is working perfectly and has really nice quiet heat. Not sure what type of electrical savings to expect, but since I only replaced one unit so far I probably won't notice a big difference on my bill. Home Depot's price for this product was very good (I did my research), my only complaint is that this is the only size for this hydronic baseboard model that they carry. The manufacturer makes several smaller and larger sizes and I would prefer that HD offer the full product line (online) instead of this very limited offering. I don't live in a town with a HD store, but none within 100 miles of my location stock this product so I was limited to the online offering. Very happy with the shipping as well. I received the products in excellent condition within 24 hours of placing my order online (with standard shipping).

Rated 5 de 5 de par Great! We installed these, pretty easily, and we really like the softer heat. They never feel "hot". The rooms are always comfortable feeling. We are really happy with them!

Rated 5 de 5 de par Working well, happy overall, one caveat Using this Cadet SoftHeat 59", 1000watt to heat a roughly 150 sq ft bathroom. The heat is warm and comfortable, works well for the space. Was installed by professionals, but seemed pretty straightforward, used the existing wall thermostat we had for old electric baseboard heat. We've only had it a month so I don't have any good comparisons for energy savings. The heat is good and it does seem to stay warm a good while when thermostat is no longer calling for heat. It has been very cold here, below freezing for several weeks now and the bathroom has been comfortable. The "blade" is stationary, so there is no changing the direction of heat/air flow. This doesn't seem that big a thing as there is not a fan or anything it is basically radiating the warmth. The one thing I had read while researching was someone complained about a loud ping/clank when it starts up. I didn't feel this would be an issue as we are used to the "pinging" of electric heaters as they warm up. However, in the early morning when this turns up it most certainly does clink rather loudly. Usually only once or twice and then either not again or I don't notice any other time during the day. I do wish it didn't do that, but it is no deal breaker for me and I would buy it again. The other interesting thing was in the first couple days the unit was installed and working it gave of a smell that to me seemed to smell like maple syrup. Funny, it wore off after a couple days, but thought I'd mention it. To sum - after use for a month, very happy, would purchase again, seems warmer than when the old baseboard was there. Only complaint would be that clink. I do not hear it every morning, so hopefully getting used to it.

Hello, thank you for your question! The right and left handed wiring is for when you're facing the front of the baseboard.

Posée par: Tricia
Yes you could however the design of the heating unit is to collect cold air at the bottom heat the air and comes out at the top front of heater. By mounting it higher will not allow the cold air to move at floor level there fore leaving a dead air space.

can this be installed in a bathroom provided it is on a gfci circuit?

Posée par: WILMA
I would assume I have the older style installed behind and under my toilet no issues over the years , safety sake you could install a gfci breaker sure .

Is this an oil filled heater?
Posée par: Thankyou
Yes, sealed mineral oil in a long tube that the heating element sits in. Aluminum fins surround the tube and radiate heat to air through natural convection (no fans or moving parts).

I?ve had this softheat unit for a few years now - it gives off more of a smell now, but unit still heats fine. Any idea of why the air smells more now? Is there a special way to clean it? I would appreciate any suggestions or reasons for the smell -

Posée par: Ohio
I own several of these types of heaters. When ever I notice an unusual odor I checked it for any sign of leak of the coolant. Both times the heaters were over 10 years old and out of warranty, so I simply replaced them.

Are these white? Found almond in two other stores and they clash with our newly painted trim throughout. Thank you.
Posée par: Maggy
I believe the unit you are asking about is white, the product specs say that. Softheat offers at least one other color option (check with their web site), which is a little more beige. The powder coat finish on these units is excellent, and my white ones are very white. Home Depot offers many of these units in those colors, and in the lengths, wiring options, and voltages - but you would likely need to order them through Home Depot. I had mine delivered to my home, which worked very well.

Is this a left hand or right hand wired unit?

Is this a left hand or right hand wired unit?
Posée par: Matt
Either. I purchased it in November 2020 and ended up with a right-wire configuration. Each side has a set of wires with a permanent coupling--on the right you just snip the only pair of wires, strip them, and connect a lead of your 220v circuit to each wire after attaching your ground wire. The left side is just as simple. (It's not well described in the material on Cadet's website or the manual. The wiring box on the left and right are near mirror-images. Whichever side you want to install from, you just snip the pair of wires, strip them, and connect to your lines.)
