Random Orbit Palm Sander Get Stuff Done with Air Flow Adjustment (XT302000) looks to be a great sander for around the house use BUT being a sander/sanding novice, the packaging was a bit fooling. Not sure if any sander comes with power source itself, but I did not realize this was simply the sander and hose - no air or power supply. I may be a total beginner but this was a surprise. According to the 1 small note on the outside of the box, then also on the instructions on the inside of the box once you get it home and opened, it will connect to typical compressor/air supply.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Really GSD (Gets Stuff Done) with Campbell Hausfield air tools It is true. This little 5" random orbit sander gets stuff done FAST and clean. It is lightweight, well balanced and ergonomic. This sander is so comfortable in the hand. My arm gets easily tired due to severe neck damage so I tend to hold my arm relaxed and move my whole body around to sand, kinda like dancing. The exhaust port blows into the vacuum hose and the port rotates to screw on the hose making it so easy. They also include a dust bag if you’d rather not use a vacuum. The speed control lever is a little awkward for me and you have to be very careful not to burn your finger while adjusting. You will need a 26 gallon or larger compressor capable of delivering 2.1 CFM (cubic feet per minute) @ 90 PSI. I run at 80 PSI because my sanding is fairly light and I have a smaller air tank. Oh yeah, don't forget hearing protection. While it is not excessively loud it is still loud enough to be damaging. So sand with care and in good health my friend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This 6 inch random orbital palm sander has a quality feel and good design. I have small hands that get fatigued when holding big tools for a long time. This palm sander is more comfortable and with 10,000 RPM, it really completes a job quickly. Even using my slightly smaller air compressor (26 gal is recommended) I think I had a good result. I bet with the bigger compressor, it will be amazing. What was truly amazing is how clean my project remained. I connected to my shop vacuum and partials were sucked up through the holes in the sand paper. Others mentioned difficulty finding the correct sandpaper disks, but I found several options by googling the manufacturer. I was able to sand and refinish a wood cabinet with excellent results.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the first air driven sander I've owned and I must say it has some nice features. This sander has two ways to vary the speed. It has an air flow regulator and the trigger can also regulate the speed of the sander There doesn't seem to be much vibration of the device while in use. it's runs quieter than electric sanders. This device "requires" 6"-6 hole adhesive type sandpaper. It was difficult to find sand paper with those requirements. There are many options available for 5" and 6" hook and loop than there are for adhesive type sandpaper. Six inch adhesive types with holes is nonexistent. Home Depot did not carry this type. What I could find was one option with mixed grits of paper. I did post a question prior to this review and the company quickly responded. (see question and answer section for full details). The tool can be used with 6" paper with no holes. The holes are necessary for use with the vacuum system. The tool comes with a long hose and cloth bag to attach when using the vacuum system. The bag ties to the hose. Velcro is used to seal the other end which can be opened to empty the bag. It's very difficult to separate the velcro when emptying. A zipper would have been a better option. Sanders I've used have only the bag attached directly to the sander which often times the particles penetrate the bag or doesn't seem to vacuum well and in some cases just makes more of mess in emptying the bag. I'm inclined to use the sandpaper without holes and not use the vacuum system. The compressor used with the tool seemed to keep up after lengthy use. The RPM seemed consistent even when applying pressure to the sander during use. The sanding pad removal process was mildly difficult. The wrench (included) is angled and only works one direction. The difficulty is slipping the wrench between the sanding pad collar and sanding pad. Once it was inserted, attaching it to the nut and removing the pad was easy. I'm not a heavy user of air tools so it may be known to experienced users. Be sure and pick up a quick coupler or plug and some tape to connect it to your compressor. It doesn't state on the box it's not an included item. It is mentioned in the manual. That just may mean a second trip to the store if an extra isn't laying around before you can use tool. Overall I'm happy with the sander. Since it is marketed as a 6"-6 hole sander, with the holes necessary to take full advantage of the tool, I gave it 4 stars due to the lack of availability of sand paper options of that type.

I wish I would have had a sander like this when I worked in the auto body shop back in the day. The first thing I want to say is that they did an excellent job adding safety engineering controls to this sander. They send you a hose that you can hook up to a dust port and shop vac which in return sucks ipp all the dust that you make while sanding. It works perfectly, and keeps the work area very clean. The other great thing about this sander is that you can adjust the air flow that controls the speed of the disk simply by adjusting the lever they added on this . This allows you to control your speed and prevent damage to your material when sanding. The feel of this sander is amazing when in the hand. Very comfrotable, and great grip with the added rubber textured handle area. The last thing I will say is that it's extremely powerful. Up to 12,500 rpm is no joke, and will remove any finish you need it to easily. Just know that the pads needed for this sander is the adhesive type, not the Velcro. Well done on this sander!

Random Orbit Palm Sander to use around my home and garage for DIY sanding projects. It has many pros; such as the compact lightweight design, the exhaust hose with the collection bag and the air flow regulator. It does however have a single con, the vacuum attachment is so close to the air inlet that when I installed my quick connect there is not enough clearance to plug in my coupler and air line (see photo). To use the sander I am going to have to design an extended quick-connect and use a different type of air hose.

What size is the dust collection hose? Can it be connected to a shop vac?
Posée par: Zuckerman
I have used this with my newer Stanley vac and it worked fine. The connection seems to be about 1 3/8 ID on the sander. I have also attached to my older Shop Vac though the vac hose is slightly too large. A little duct tape held it well enough for a smaller task.

This sander states it is for 6" sandpaper with 6 hole adhesive type discs. Home Depot doesn't carry any. Other retailers are limited or don't carry them either. They only carry adhesive type without holes. There is a wide variety of 5" inch options and fewer 6" but most of them are hook and loop not adhesive. Is it possible to use discs without holes or make your own holes?
Posée par: jcb1
Holes are not needed if you don't mind dust and grit everywhere. You can easily make your own but you should make a top and bottom wood pattern or even an aluminum or steel one to put a few discs between then you can either punch or drill your holes. Yes it will dull a punch or drill but they can be sharpened.
