Rated 3 de 5 de par Beautiful but flimsy I installed this a couple months ago in my new bathroom and love the look. However it is very flimsy. After putting the insulation on top of it I noticed bulges in the tile. Just hoping it hold and tiles don't fall out

Rated 4 de 5 de par Very Nice Im happy with the soniguard tikes but 1 thing... The square needs to be a little smaller so it can fit correctly into the vinyl tile. Its a little big so you either have to cut every square (and they are hard to cut) or just lay them on top, overlapping each other - so we chose the latter.

Would this work for a surface mount grid system in conjunction with your Ceilume Stratford tiles? Or are they too thick?

Would this work for a surface mount grid system in conjunction with your Ceilume Stratford tiles? Or are they too thick?
Posée par: Derek
Assuming your grid system has at least an inch clearance, these are easy to install.

can this be installed on drywall ceiling using spray adhesive?

Posée par: const
Ceilume's Soniguard Drop Ceiling Acoustic Insulation is made from a nonwoven polyester fiber and is not suitable for installation as a stand-alone insulation material. While the polyester fibers are thermally bonded, they would not provide an adequate bonding surface for adhesive.

Can I use this to sound proof my basement wall. I have a wood working shop and really need to make it soundproof not only from the rest of the house but especially for the neighbors as I live in a town house.

Posée par: Sarah88
You will need something bigger to really absorb the sound You will need something with mass to have a noticeable impact I suggest you looking into whisper wall projects

I'm looking to sound condition a room and not necessarily sound proofing. Is this product effective at doing this?

Posée par: Bill
Using Ceilume's Soniguard Drop Ceiling Insulation with Ceilume ceiling tiles produces a Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC) of .50. As you've mentioned, noise reduction isn't quite the same as Sound Conditioning. Please give Ceilume a call at 800-557-0657; we can discuss the composition of your space and your acoustic related goals.

My basement ceiling is drywall - can I tape this Soniguard insulation up against the dry wall (i.e. without opening up existing drywall ceiling)?

Posée par: Song
My Opinion is i don't know for sure . it would have to be really good tape. The product is very light and it would be possible but not sure how it would look. i installed as a drop ceiling and it worked out ok. i hope this helps

How is Soniguard drop ceiling acoustic insulation installed? Double sided tape for spray adhesive?

Posée par: Song
It sits on top of drop ceiling tiles.  It doesn't need tape or adhesive unless you're planning to use it in a zero gravity environment.

Do these tiles fit in a standard grid for a drop ceiling? I recently bought a house that had a mouse problem so now I have to replace the entire basement ceiling. It currently has the old fiber glass tiles. I am not wanting to replace the grid if possible

Posée par: Linda
They are 2ft x 2ft square so they fit perfectly as a pair in a 2ft x 4ft grid. But remember that they are for sound insulation and are designed therefore to sit on top of ceiling tiles rather than to replace actual ceiling tiles. Not sure from your post if that's what you're looking for.

Hello, I'm looking to insulate my drop ceiling with Soniguard. I know this is designed to sit on top of the ceiling tiles, but would the weight of the insulation require me to add extra support wiring for the drop ceiling structure? Or is this designed to work with an existing drop ceiling structure? My ceiling tiles are about .5 inches thick... and seem pretty beefy already. Would the .8 lbs per tile would not be too much for the existing structure to bear? Many thanks!
Posée par: Kevin
A properly installed suspended ceiling grid will have no problems handling the extra weight of the Soniguard Drop Ceiling Insulation.
