Rated 1 de 5 de par Fake garbage Needed CAT3 cable - grabbed this. Boy, what a mistake. Didn't notice until I had pulled the run through and stripped the end that this is some kind of fake POTS wire. It's not twisted pair, it's not 24AWG, and it's not even made of copper - it's copper plated iron (the cable sticks to a magnet!). The worst part is the price - at $42 per 250ft this is not inexpensive cable. At least Home Depot gave me a full refund when I brought the rest of the roll back to complain, but this is just an absolute garbage, fake product. It's not real wire, it's just a ripoff. Home Depot shouldn't even have this on the shelf.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Poor Quality poor signal quality I bought this a couple days ago to pull a new DSL line...only used a few feet and had terrible signal quality . So i troubleshot everything else and all checked out until finally i pulled another cable (different brand) and all worked fine and still does today. I would not buy this brand again.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Surprising Bad Quality for what I wanted it for. I purchased this to replace some old phone and internet line and thought it would be great. Found that my internet speed was half of what it should be so we called our provider NATCO and they sent out a great tech. I had just installed about 50 ft of this cable so everything was brand new. The tech checked EVERYTHING, modem, line at the outside pole, line inside, phone speed, internet speed and more with his $10,000 test equipment and at first just could not figure it out. Finally he had 1,000 feet of cable Cat 5 made in the USA whereas this cable is Cat 3 and made in CHINA.....and when he then ran the line test it was showing over twice the speed I was getting with this cable. This cable may be fine for telephone ONLY but as far as using it for DSL........IT IS JUNK and WORTHLESS.

Rated 1 de 5 de par CE Tech 250FT CAT3 4C WH This is cheap wire made in China. It is specified as 26 AWG copper telephone cable based on the conductor diameter, but it is actually only copper plated conductors and electrically it is equivalent to approximately 34 AWG based on its high electrical resistance. I am very disappointed with this product.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Pure Junk This is advertised as Cat 3 station wire, this is not CAT 3 wire, it is plain old dial telephone station wire. Do not purchase it if you are intending to run data over it. It might work for you on short runs but why take the chance when 500' of Cat 5E is only $70.00. I didn't notice that this is 4 conductor, not 4 PAIR, until I got it home and started to work with it.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Phone wire Whats not to like, its wire has 4 conductors and its insulated. Standard colors red, black, green, yellow all enclosed in white. Found the spool in the clearance isle, I hope they will still be stocking it, as I'm using it for alarm installations.

Rated 1 de 5 de par It's not cat 3, it's not twisted pair, and it's... It's not cat 3, it's not twisted pair, and it's not even copper. This kind of wire isn't allowed by code and shouldn't be sold in the United States.

Rated 5 de 5 de par It works for alarm system cabling. I used this cable for extending alarm cables in my basement, it has 4 wires as advertised.

How do I connect the ends correctly

Posée par: General
You can go into the Dept at Home Depot where you purchase the Cat3 wire and there is where you will find either regular phone line wire ends or even DSL phone wire ends and each is numbered or color coded along with instructions on how to attach the wire to the connectors. It is really very easy. Just a note: Cat 3 is fine for simply a phone line but if you are going to run line for DSL you should run Cat 5 as that will handle the increased data much nicer.
