Rated 1 de 5 de par No good in places here you need silicone Bought this for a bathroom renovation. It is NOT a substitute for normal caulk. It is water permeable. It's basically just a filler grout, despite the fact that is says 'caulk' it is a grout. It was difficult to apply because it was very dry. Even though I complied with the instructions it failed after 4 month causing the window sill in the tub/shower combo to take on water and all the tiles in the area had to be replaced as they had 'lifted' from water infiltration. The water got between the waterproof backer board and the window itself. Might work for some application but certainly not for where you would normally used caulking.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Perfect colour match - excellent results Matches the "real" grout colour with the same name very well. Was easy to apply and clean up. Great for corners and edges. Once dry it feels a bit stiffer than Kitchen and bathroom silicone. But clearly still "soft" enough to allow for any expansion or contraction of the joint. It exceeded my expectations. After a few weeks it is challenging to see the areas where I used this product in place of the grout (with exactly the same colour name). Wonderful results ! I have no reservations in recommending this product. . I am a customer of Home Depot and bought this product myself. I have no connection with the manufacturer of this product nor with Home Depot beyond being a happy customer. I wrote this review in hopes that it might help someone else considering this product. Such a review would have greatly reduced my anxiety in trying this product out the first time with my tiling project. I normally do not take the time to provide a review.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Do NOT buy this product... Recently tiled my shower and purchased this product to caulk the corners/ around the tub. Had to google the dry time as it’s nowhere to be found on the tube, the company’s website says 24 hours +\- depending on thickness. After 48 hours the surface had skimmed over but it was extremely soft to the touch, so much so that it was easily indented. I read some reviews on the product and it became apparent that many people have reported issues with this product not drying. Determined to make it work, I allowed it 7 days of dry time before exposing to water. It was still very soft to the touch and after a couple showers the caulk line around the tub began to disintegrate and “melt” off. I removed all of the caulk at this point and found it to still be wet and mushy in behind. Just stick with regular silicone to avoid a headache

Rated 2 de 5 de par Defeating the purpose! I'm going to count my eggs before it hatches. I'm using a matching Polyblend grout (Platinum) with this matching colored silicone. Now I'm worried having to use "silicone caulk" in the past in my shower renos and it failed miserably. In their technical data sheet it literally says ..." Do not use in areas with constant water exposure..." Now the grout is already on though not caulked yet, I can't afford to take the chance with this product. I need it to seal and not fail. Will have to go back to the reliable MONO Silicone Max Kitchen and Bath 290 ml - Grey. Hopefully my customer won't complain about the different grey now.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Nice product We used this #180 Sandstone to caulk the top and bottom of our newly tiled kitchen backsplash, which had been grouted with Fawn #156. We used the #180 Sandstone caulk because the Home Depot store did not carry the Fawn #156 caulk, and it appeared to be the closest match. While the caulk may give off a little different hue upon close inspection, it's not enough that the typical eye can see.

Rated 1 de 5 de par DON'T USE WHERE TILE MEETS TUB! Just finished our bathroom tub surround. we ripped out the old tile and "Sheetrock".. (house was built in 1978), put in Hardie board, sealed, caulked corners, tiled and grouted. I used the sanded grout in Sandstone in the corners and under the tile around the tub. After five days it was still gummy and didn't quite dry in places. Plus, I read where this is nowhere near as long lasting as silicone in wet places. So what I did was take some white silicone tub caulk and squeeze out about 1/2 a tube on a piece of disposable tile, and mixed sanded grout in it with it with a putty knife. Then I put it in a cake decorating bag and squeezed it in the joint. (I used painters tape and taped the area off, top and bottom ). I used my finger dipped in mineral spirits and smoothed the grout mix, pulled off the tape, and smoothed it again. Now I have a siliconed , grout strengthened seal. Please note that the color the mix is wet, is the actual color it will be dry!!! It was easy, and I will do this every time instead of wasting my money on this acrylic stuff!!

Rated 2 de 5 de par Color was a close match but did not last long The product was applied as instructed and closely matched the grout it was used with. It lasted 9 months before cracking in various places and allowing mildew.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Short lived This sealant was applied per all instruction. The shower has been wiped down after each use. The sealant became spongy after 3 months and had to be replaced.

Can this be used in place of grout for a shower and/or on top of grout in shower?

The grout used by my tile guy was the wrong color and he is using this to put on top of my grout to make it the right color.
Posée par: Doniz
It’s not going to work. I use that around the edge of the tub where the tub meets the tile only for a water proof seal. He’s going to have to take out the tile start over or give you a big discount .

How long does it take to cure

Posée par: Jr
There is no time listed on the tube. I called the company and was told 48 hours. Because mine was in a shower and I had the time, I gave mine 4 days.

i can use it in the corners of a shower over the grout?

Posée par: juan
Yes you can put it directly over the old grout but it's best to remove some of the original grout to get a better seal with polyblend #180.

Polyblend Sanded Ceramic Tile Caulk is suitable for use where tile meets tile in a 'change of plane' joint. However, it is not suitable for use as a grout in a field tile joint. For further assistance please contact us at 1 800 282 8786 option 2.

It says in the description that this caulk is recommended for tile to tub caulking. Is this true?

Many of these post say not recommended for constant water exposure.
