Rated 1 de 5 de par Run very fast and find Ditra Purchased for first time, HD stopped selling Ditra. Was impressed at first, directions stated to use polymer modified mortar (Ultra flex 2) for both, to plywood floor and to mat. When using Ditra you need both modified and unmodified to do the job. So I thought that's good. Next day grouted with latex added sanded grout. Next day started noticing fine cracks between tiles. Had helper stand on and off tile, could see the smallest of movement. Next day same and grout flaking out in several ares. Tore it all out and redid job. The tile stuck to mat superbly the mat stuck to floor superbly, was heck getting off. No tile survived.

Rated 3 de 5 de par Easy install, but not overly confident at this point [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After reading a few reviews about this product, I was concerned about using this membrane. However, I have used products from Custom Building Products in the past, so I thought I would give it a try. So far so good, but I am not confident that I won't have cracks showing up in the near future. I did my best to follow the instructions very closely and I have my fingers crossed. Here are the facts....All of these membrane types of material are more expensive than using backerboard. So unless your situation precludes you from using backerboard, if I were yiou, I would be using backerboard.

Rated 1 de 5 de par No star if I could...I can NOT recommend this. At All! Having used Schluter Ditra in the past, I ... No star if I could...I can NOT recommend this. At All! Having used Schluter Ditra in the past, I do recommend using an uncoupling mat. Ditra was simple and easy to install, and has performed flawlessly. This RedGard is made of a 'stiff plastic' that maintains the shape from being rolled; it was like trying to get a Pringle's Chip to lay flat. Even though the mortar bed was a nice sticky consistency, this kept pulling up at the edges. I had to use weights to get this stuff to lay down. We'll see how it holds up. I will ONLY use Ditra on future projects.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Will never use again! Waste of time and money. Used to avoid raising the height of a transition, installed according to instructions. I have been installing tile in my apartments for over 35 years and decided to try something new. The mortar never set properly after 5 days and after grouting, grout started to pop. Started to replace 5 tiles in a bathroom 7x8. After 15 minutes of replacement more were still loose, entire floor is now being replaced. I have zero confidence that if I don't do it now a month down the road I will be. This has cost me a week of lost time and $500 in addition material. To bad there are no stars, one is to many.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Works Great Used in a sunroom with 12x24 porcelain tile. Installed 1/2” plywood over 2x6 deck boards in what had been a screen in porch. Screwed all the wood down tight ti maje the floor as stiff as possible. Used best quality mortar and grout. A year later no cracks in grout or tiles. Will use again

Was talked out of the Schluter Ditra - which I used with great success in the past - by the HD employee at the local store. I was also intrigued seeing I wouldn't have to use two different mastics to set it and the tile, not to mention the fact that it was less expensive. Well, you get what you pay for, friends. While the product went in easily and tiling was no different, a day or two after the tiles were set and the grout was dried, we started finding tiles that were loose and lots of cracking in the grout lines. I first blamed myself, trying to figure out what I had done wrong but then came online and read others' reviews - including some pros' reviews. Disappointing I didn't read these first. I am hoping that I will be able to salvage the tiles but goodness knows I'll never buy this product again.

Rated 5 de 5 de par The RedGard matting is thin and easy to install. It mated with the thinset very well. Using a grout float, I was able to push out air bubbles without much effort. The only negative thing I have to say is the roll has a memory when unrolled and corners tend to curl up requiring a small weight to hold them down. I used chunks of pressure treated wood of about 2lbs each. I am very pleased with the insulating quality of the RedGard. Though I am installing a heated floor over it, there was a noticeable difference between the temperature of the bare concrete and the thinset covered RedGard before I installed the heat mat.

Rated 1 de 5 de par I Like Schluter that you used to carry much better,... I Like Schluter that you used to carry much better, I will seek it out from other suppliers, you are cutting corners with the materials you sell and its driving people to other stores to get the quality back for our clients.

can you install this over peel and stick tiles?

do the peel and stick tiles have to be removed from floor before installing this membrane or can i just go over the old tiles?
Posée par: beav
Yes, but be sure the peel and stick tiles are secure on the floor before application of this product. Once this membrane has been applied properly the thin set will seal and harden under the tile. To be safe remove the peel and stick product.

Tile size

What is the minimum size tile that can be used with the uncoupling mat membrane? I plan to install a 2 in. hexagon mosaic tile over concrete. Will this work?
Posée par: David
2 inches on a mosaic sheet can work over this uncoupling membrane, but make sure the tile itself is rated for foot traffic. This is an important factor, because even if you use the mat underneath, it can and will crack and fail due to the heavy weight above it. Joseph
