Rated 1 de 5 de par Very Poor Product. Garbage, don't use. If you have used "real" grout before, you will not like this stuff. I have applied grout several times...never has it been this difficult. This project I just had to tile a small bathroom. I decided to buy this product because I didn't need much grout and it would cover the area needed. It is like painted sand. It pretty much paints the tiles when you wipe with a sponge. Then you have to scrub and wipe, scrub and wipe to get the darn stuff off the tile. Regular grout hazes to a dust that you just wipe easily with a soft clean cloth after sponging. This stuff you will do twice as much work. Just buy the regular mixable grout, I promise you won't regret it.

Rated 2 de 5 de par Package information is not helpful We purchased this premixed grout to fix a cracked portion of our wall shower. However, the information on this package was insufficient and we ended up having to return it. Firstly, despite the common definition and understanding of the word "alabaster," and the fact that the website says that it is in the whites family, this grout is far from white. It is a very solid grey. Additionally, the package doesn't specify whether this grout is sanded or unsanded (FYI, it's sanded) so both the color and texture were not a match for our existing grout. Frustrating and disappointing. We could have lived with the sand if the color had been a match. As it was, we had to saw it all back out.

Rated 3 de 5 de par Good looking grout Purchased this mainly due to color. Grout looks fantastic, however, when the instructions say to wipe off film after four hours, you need be wiping it off in less than one hour. Took forever to remove the film from the tile. Would not come off with just water, had to buy the cleaner and even then we had to let it sit on the tile for at least ten minutes before it would remove the film. Took more time to clean the film than to tile and grout the floor. But it does look good. We used dry grout mix for our other floors and did not have near the problem and both look equally as good.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Unworkable "cleanup must begin immediately" is an understatement. The grout was drying faster than I could apply it. Extremely difficult to use. I thought maybe I had a bad tub, so I went to another Home Depot, and that tub was exactly the same. "Wait 4 hours before removing haze" Well, clean-up with a product drying so quickly was practically impossible. My tub surround is covered in haze and water marks the TileLab Haze Removed won't budge. I should have stuck to mixing a bag of grout. I cannot recommend this product.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Bright White? More like dirty beige Found this product to be hard to work with and over priced. The most difficult thing was seeing the finished product. How is this bright white??? My grout looks like it needs to be cleaned but it's brand new! Thanks for ruining my new shower. 1 star cuz I couldn't vote 0

Rated 4 de 5 de par Hardens fast so only do a few tiles at a time Though it was small laundry room I made the mistake of doing the whole floor before wiping of excess. it had already harden and start sticking to (vinyl) tile, it toke me hours to get excess off. So only do a few tiles at a time as then you can gently wipe it off with a grout sponge. The picture is Alabaster grout on Exodus vinyl tiles.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Result is not that I expected Pre-mixed grout should make work easier but not this one. We bought two tubs and they both were very coarse, probably like 80 grit sandpaper, and dry - had to add a little of water to make is spread more evenly. Even with that it was very difficult to put on the tiles. It dries too fast on tiles but very slow in seams, so it's difficult to clean from tiles' surface but seams are leaking at the same time. After all was finished and all haze removed it's very coarse in seams, looks like sand based mortar, not as finishing grout

Rated 1 de 5 de par Awful stuff I never buy premixed but they only had huge bags of the mix type. This stuff is sanded which is not necessary for walls. It's thick and difficult to spread and really hard to get off the tile. You have to wipe hard to get it off the tile which is difficult to do without overworking the grout lines. If any film dries on the tile it's almost impossible to get off, probably because of the stain resistant properties. I had to go over dry film spots on the tile after it dried using steel wool pushing really hard while avoid the grout lines.

can I use this over existing grout

Posée par: 00
I did. That was the reason I purchased this product, to fix some areas of missing grout in an older home I purchased. It worked well, and is still in place. Hope this experience helps you. Good luck

question on applying grout on kitchen counter

Hi I want to repair the grout on the tile wall that meets my formica counter top. You have two photos of the same area at a high res. Do you suggest Alibaster pre-mixed grout? Is the premixed grout the right material? Custom Building Products #333 Alabaster 1 qt. Premixed Grout Model # PMG333QT Internet # 100676317 Store SKU # 426344 Store SO SKU# 426344 do I use a normal tile float corner to apply the grout?, then do I wipe it off using a damp sponge, once I get a haze, do I wipe that haze off with a cheesecloth? any other suggestions? thank you I will shop at the Garwood NJ Home Depot Thank you Phil
Posée par: Philip
I would think this is the right material. The container for this pre-mixed grout states: "grouts ceramic, glass mosaic, quarry, porcelain and stone tile." Further states "...clean up cvan begin immediately using a damp grout sponge in a circular motion. Also says "holding a rubber grout float at a 45 degree angle, force grout diagonally into joints insuring joints are completely filled." Finallly "Wait 4 hours before removing haze from the surface with a soft, dry cloth." Make sure also that cloth starts out clean. Consider using a grout sealer several days after the grout has dried. Hope this helps.

Will this grout stick to an existing vinyl floor?

My intention is to put vinyl tile over an existing sheet of old vinyl flooring. Will the grout stick to the old vinyl?
Posée par: CascadeSteve
I have no reason to think so and I would not risk it. Not the intended use of this pre-mixed grout. Containers states: ."...grouts ceramic, glass, mosaic, quarry, porcelain and stone tile" You will need to remove the existing vinyl flooring.

Does the grout need to be sealed once it cures?

Does the grout need to be sealed once it cures?
Posée par: Sean
Sealers mostly protect grout from stains. Contemporary grouts have silicone based bonding additives that prevent wash away, however they don't protect grout from stains. Stain sealers create surface that is easy to clean. Personally I don't apply them because they require frequent re-applications. I guess I don't have a lot of stain issues, so stain protection is not important for me.

I am looking to buy a small size of Snow White and Alabaster to match. I don't see the smaller size online as in the store. Unfortunately the colors I'm looking for are not in stock. Also is Snow White available online? Lastly the colors are in stock in the "caulk" style tube. Are these true to color match the larger containers? Thanks.

I have a troublesome floor with 18 inch tiles. The sub flooring should have been replaced but was not. We have replaced some cracked tiles and have used this product and love it. We not have some darkened grout areas and I'd like to just go over it with this product to match the grout. I do not want to dig out the old grout. Can this work?

Can I use this product to re grout a shower floor with ceramic tiles? And does it require a sealant afterwards? The shower floor is 3x5. Would the .946L be enough?

Posée par: Tina
That is what so have done. I did not put a sealant over it but if I had standing water on the shower floor I might do so.
