Rated 3 de 5 de par Not too great! Looked like a great replacement. However, when installed, it had very little adjustment room and would only point down. Using a dremel I gave it more room to pivot upward and cover some of the area in front of the shop. Then, I realized, as I was twelve feet up the ladder, again, that the back of the clamp holding the unit in position was now holding the entire assembly away from the wall! Some caulking will be needed. The light works, but definitely needs a bit of reengineering!

Rated 1 de 5 de par Replaced twice...big dissapointment After 20 years I thought I'd upgrade my garage lights. I bought the Hampton Bay Icaria 60W 3-Light Black Outdoor Wall Lantern with Clear Bevelled Glass Model# GNC1613A, and the Ecosmart 60W Equivalent Bright White (3000K) B10 LED Light Bulbs. After less than a month the first sensor failed. It just stopped working. I replaced it and after a couple months the second sensor failed. If I kill the power to the lights I can turn them on but they stay on. If I set them for motion sensor they don't work. Looking for a solution as to why this sensor keeps failing. I was told that some sensors don't work with LED bulbs, as well as some sensors don't work with specific light fixtures. I bought incandescent bulbs and it does the same thing.

Rated 1 de 5 de par WILL NOT WORK WITH LED LIGHTS At present, the overview and specifications do not clearly indicate that this product will NOT work with smaller load lights such as LED. Product description needs to be updated to make it clear to everyone that LEDs will NOT work with this sensor. Specifications do indicate that it will work with halogen lights, but it seems more like 'max usage' information rather than an 'only works with' warning. Please add minimum load characteristics at least. I am sure that this product could be good if you still use halogen outdoor lights...

Rated 5 de 5 de par Remote sensor operates existing door fixtures! I had previously installed a pair of attractive no-sensor fixtures near my garage door, controlled by a wall-switch inside the garage. I soon realized the hazards of night-time icy winter walks from the house to the garage, about 60 feet, and about fumbling with keys in the dark. I bought one of these sensors and installed it just under the eave of the garage, at the opposite end from where the door and fixtures are located. The entrance of the garage and the rear door of the house are about 180 degrees opposite each other with respect to the front-centre of the sensor. Yet the sensor instantly reacts to either the rear door opening or my stepping out of the entrance door of the garage, and turns on the lights. The big draw is that I've retained the nice looking fixtures and not had to settle for the usual searchlights associated with remote sensors. My installation was somewhat complex. I had to extend the sensor's four short wires with a six foot length of 14/3 to reach a box by the nearest of the two fixtures. (Sensor wires: hot, neutral, ground, Switched hot out.) Then I had to run a length of 14/2 to the original controlling switch on the far side of the garage door. This is to provide a switch function in the line feeding 120VAC TO the sensor. This is for maximum versatility of the sensor's functions, described in the easy to follow instructions, which also cover aiming and configuring the unit's operation. (The instructions only deal with the installation of the sensor as a replacement in an existing controlled fixture.) The unit works exactly as I wanted, and I'd recommend it readily.

This sensor causes a dimmable LED light bulb to flicker rapidly at half brightness. Turning power off/on stops flickering and goes full brightness until new motion is detected. I have adjusted all settings but nothing changes. Any thoughts?

Make sure you are using an outdoor dimmable, wet-rated LED PAR38 bulb.

Can I use this motion sensor to control a LED flood light?

This replacement sensor is not compatible with an integrated LED flood light. Only compatible with a floodlight that uses self-ballasted bulbs such as a halogen PAR38 floodlight bulbs or outdoor, wet and dimmable LED bulbs.

Can I purchase this motion detector and have my electrician hook it up to a regular outdoor light?

The simple answer is Yes, but there are a few caveats. This device is marketed as a replacement sensor for a typical sensor-equipped floodlight fixture, so, it wires are very short, less than a foot. Since its attachment point is a 1/2" electrical conduit fitting, it needs either a box which accepts conduit fittings or the end of a length of conduit with an appropriate female adapter into which the unit's fitting... fits. I mounted mine like this, through a small hole in the vinyl soffit. Very unobtrusive. The one electrical issue is that this sensor requires a switch in the AC line that feeds this unit, not in the line that feeds the fixtures (the unit controls the fixtures). Your electrician will have to break the hot connection between the switch and the first fixture. The wire from the switch then gets connected to the sensor's supply line, and the sensor's output wire is connected to the fixture where the switch's feed used to be. All neutrals connect together. Works like a charm. I'm using LED 60W equivalents, but not using the "Dual Bright" mode. Dimmable LEDs MIGHT work with that, if its a feature you want.
