This product doesn't work with a floor orbital sander as recommended by the Home Depot Rental Department. The Tool Rental Department recommended this product. It doesn't work. Sanding dust gets under the adhesive pad and clogs the adhesive. The sand paper stayed on the sander for about 10-12 seconds. If this product were to come with a hook and loop pad (like Velcro) then it would probably work much better. I ended up cutting up the sandpaper and used it on my hand orbital sander (that has clips to hold the paper in place while sanding.

All the spots and stains are still there. Home Depot used to have the rotary sanders that really worked, however this flat type sander is not good at all.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Doesn't stick I rented a floor sander from Home Depot. They sold me this Diablo self-adhesive sandpaper at nearly $6 a piece. It comes off after about 10 square feet of sanding. Kind of inconvenient. I'm not sure what to do, maybe try the double-sided carpet tape to attach it like someone else recommended. Not a product I'd work with in the future. I wish Home Depot did a better job of vetting what they sell.

Rated 3 de 5 de par How to re-stick sandpaper to the pad I've read comments here that once removed, the sandpaper won't re-stick to the sanding pad. I've had that exact problem, and I simply used Elmer's Spray Adhesive - sprayed it onto the back of the sandpaper, and pressed it hard to the pad - worked great! When I pulled the paper off later, it took just a few strands of pad with it - but its still fine for the next piece.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Great Product. Work Great. 2 Tips: 1) Have a wire wheel on a drill handy to clean the pads when they get gummed up. Greatly extends the life of the pads 2) Make sure your lowest grit (i.e. first pass) removes all old varnish. The subsequent passes at a higher grit won't remove much at all. They are just good for sanding the wood.

The sandpaper failed to stick after a few minutes and I had to use 3M spray glue (recommended by the rental personnel) after using 6 sheets I opted to get a more coarse grit. Also I did not give the pper a 5 star rating it is coming up that way. 3 at the most.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Reliable product though wish it lasts for larger projects The grit works exactly like expected. For large projects of course need to buy several of these. Easy to use and relatively decent price

Does the 12x18 Sheet have an adhesive back to stay in place?

Posée par: Dunderwood
Hello, Yes, the 12x18 sheet is equipped with Diablo's Stickfast (Pressure Sensitive Adhesive) backing for a secure bond when sanding. We are currently working to update this information on the site, as it is not there currently. Thank you for your question and your interest in our products.

What Sanding Grades would be recommended to sand my hardwood floors? I was looking at the Diablo 36grit and 60grit but would like anyones opinion who has done this type of work before.

On new floors I first cut them level with a drum sander and 36 grit on the drum. You can level it with a square buff and 36 or maybe even 20 but it takes forever.. On a smaller new floor after the drum levels all the boards with the 36 grit, I switch to the square buff also with 36 grit. This seams to really start hyper leveling the floor. If it’s a bigger floor (like 150 sf) I may take a second run with the drum sander and use a 60 or 80 grit. Then I use the square buff with descending grit after the 36 cut (I’ll use 60 on the square buff first if I did the second run with 60 on the drum). Essentially I work down on the grit from the initial 60 to 80 to 120. I then put on a first coat of floor finish ( I always use oil base because it has a very nice color where water base to me looks too white/light). You can then cut that first coat of varnish (or sealer). with a 220 screen and then place a second and maybe a third coat. Floor varnish seems to go much further than typical paints. Paint usually gives about 400 sq f5 per gallon and I think the same gallon of floor finish gives me probably about 500. Clean before each coating not only with a vacuum but I would use a tack cloth or something like a thinner rag and try to get the surface immaculate. Keep in mind dusty walls (from your sanding) and moving air like open windows or heating AC circulation. The newer varnishes don’t seem to smell as bad as they did decades ago when I did allot of floors but they do smell and probably not good for long exposure but nothing a paint respirator can’t handle until you make your escape. The floor should look like glass if done right. On refinish the above info also stands but if the floor is in good shape the square buff may be able to do the whole thing. Also when edging a floor edger is handy but I use my big angle sander/grinder with the same grit as the field machine. I hate what we used to call “spinners” as I think they are backbreaking and I can control my angle grinder probably better than the dedicated edger.
