Rated 1 de 5 de par Cheap materials I'm a residential electrician, have a lot of drilling in new homes. I purchased this bit hoping it would perform. It did not. The bit is labeled as nail embedded wood, the first bit I purchased made it through 2½ houses before the tip snapped off, making it very difficult to finish the job. I then exchanged it for a new one. Out of the package it made 13½ total holes before the tip snapped again. I'm drilling new 2x4 and 2x6 some with nails from framing. Soft wood. It touches a nail and it's broken. Would not recommend or purchase again.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Bores stumps fast I got this to drill 'fire holes' in dead stumps that are too big to dig out with my tractor. Putting chimney holes in the middle of the stump and intersecting holes in from the side of the base lets you start a fire in the middle and the air feeds in from the side like a little blast furnace. It may take a couple days but the stump should burn out from the inside. I made holes using a High Performance battery 1/2 inch drill in low range but the torque demand is really high at the speed this bit bores. I need to get an adapter chuck for my HP battery SDC Plus rotary hammer so I can turn this bit in drill mode.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Extremely disappointed Bought this for drilling out pole barn bolts, which is drilling through 2 - 1 1/2 blocks and a 6x6 pressure treated post, so 9" of drill depth. 4-5" in it binds up every time using a Milwaukee hole hawg. If you don't clean the hole out after every 2" of drilling, it will never feed all the way through. The Irwin ship auger out drills this 5 to 1. Love your blades, but this is a fail guys.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Good Bit as long as drill has enough torque to pull it. Bought this bit for tree killing and root killing yes its overkill but thats OK. Works great as long as your drill has enough balls to pull it in. Drill damage is not the bits fault. It's the users.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Great bits, not pretty holes but self-feed functionality is absurdly efficient Great bits, self-feed is extremely aggressive and requires almost no pushing to get going, very aggressive once self-feeding though. Aux handle use is a virtual requirement on your drill when using these. Tried drilling one hole with the bare drill and almost broke my arm once it pulled into the wood, and I'm not a weak person. These pull hard and fast. They are so aggressive that they tend to tear the entrances and exits out pretty bad, but if you're not concerned about pretty holes this an awesome style of bit.

Rated 2 de 5 de par Got stuck in the wood. When I brought these brand new bits to the job site, one of the electricians told me that I will regret soon purchasing this auger bits because they easily get stuck in the wood. I kind of laughed in my mind, saying that he probably don’t know what he’s talking about, because for many years I used similar drill bits from different brands and never had such a issue. Well, the did got stuck in the wood and I lost both of my brand new auger bits in only 2 days by drilling 5 of 6”-8” of wood.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Looks great, but the tip broke off after less than twenty holes. Looks great, but the tip broke off after less than twenty holes.

Rated 3 de 5 de par The bit performed well the first day. Drilled about 12holes... The bit performed well the first day. Drilled about 12holes in 3.5" landscape timbers. Stacked four high. The second day drilled 9 holes. A very disappointing day. The bit got bound every hole. I discovered the chips were not being delivered to the top of the hole. This resulted in the revirsing of the bit about four times per hole to clear the wood shavings out of the hole. Very disappointed in this event.

Thank you for your question. A right angle drill would have the most power.

Do you have a recommended file for sharpening? I'm using 1" and 5/8" bits.

Posée par: Hugh
Hi Hugh, we recommend using any type of flat file. However, for best results there are Auger bit files that are designed specifically for this task.

Have the 7/8 auger bit. What is the recommended rpm to use it?

Posée par: Seba
For auger bits, you need an auger drill, as it is geared down so the motor doesnt bog down while making the hole. It pulls the bit into wood and needs the torque a standard drill does not poses. Regular dont work, Auger drills are about $300-400 +

Will this fit a 3/8 shank ?
Posée par: da
Thank you for your question! The 1" auger bit has a 7/16" hex shank. It fits a regular sized drill, a 7/16" hex impact driver or an extension with a 7/16" hex collar.
