Rated 5 de 5 de par no more cold and easy to install This product I absolutely amazing! I renovated my mothers basement and she wanted her floor to be warmer since what she currently had didn`t do the job. I also didn’t want to spend a whole weekend installing an underlayment or cutting through plywood. Speaking with a Home Depot associate, he recommended DMX 1Step 2.0 since I was installing vinyl. I wouldn`t consider my self a DIY expert but man! This product was so easy to install! I didn`t need any specialized tools… Just a utility knife to cut through it. I did around 750 square feet with a friend and it took us around 2 1/2 hours to install it! Talk about quick! Once the vinyl flooring was installed, the flooring felt very secure and was pleasant to walk on. After a few days, my mother notice the difference and the floor was warmer o walk on. Now she goes down there more often. I definitely recommend this product because it does what it says!

I have used this product under two types of flooring so far. I laid it, filled the top with thinset, then troweled a one inch thick pebblestone floor over the top for the first room. Next time I will not bother with the thinset for a pebblestone floor. In the second room I laid a carpet pad and carpet over the underlayment. Might be the softest floor I have ever walked on. I have a large area I need more protection than the 3/8 inch you get from one layer, so I am planning to thinset and put down a second layer. I tested a small area and that seemed to work well. I also tested the product with the epoxies I use for pebblestone floors and got no reaction. Tuff stuff.

Rated 5 de 5 de par The BEST way to control moisture and give your floor a softer feel! I bumped into this product searching the Internet for a way to waterproof my basement floor. I emailed several questions directly to the manufacturer and they responded immediately with details on how to handle each situation. DMX 1 Step is easy to install and as I covered more of the concrete floor I started to notice that musty basement smell could not be detected in the areas I completed. The hardest part for me was drilling into the concrete floor to use the TAPCON screws. Buy a higher quality hammer drill and lots of drill bits. I installed 5/4 x 4 sleepers and then 3/4" OSB glued and screwed over top. The sleepers are installed 24" on center. The floor has the same kind of flex as the main level of the house. My wife loves the way it feels when she walks on the basement floor. The moisture control is allowing us to install hardwood floor in the basement. That is typically a no-no. I'm confident the DMX 1 Step is going to be the key to my finished basement not looking or feeling like a finished basement. It's a great product!

Rated 5 de 5 de par No more moisture and cold! Finally a product that works! I installed DMX 1-Step 2.0 with Lifeproof vinyl 6.5mm in my basement. I bought this underlayment because the HD associate recommended it, and he told me that the air gap will evaporate moisture coming though my slab. I have always had a lot of moisture coming through the slab since we bought the house, and I have tried everything from the basic poly underlayment, to the dricore 2 by 2 panels, but they never lasted! With 1-Step 2.0, the install is now done, and I am so happy, because I immediately feel a difference in the warmth of the floors. Not to mention that is also quite pleasant to walk on. My kids typically wouldn't to play in the basement in the past because of the cold, but seeing them run around the basement without even wearing socks made the whole install worth it! I will update if anything changes, but based on how the product felt in my hands, and insight from the HD associate, I don't imagine that the underlayment will have issues down the line. Highly recommend! Mike

Rated 4 de 5 de par Easy to work with and install This product was lightweight and very easy to install. Only needed a utility knife and some tape. I was covering about a 400 square foot space and it took just a couple of hours. This wasn't the cheapest option, but considering I would have needed a separate vapor barrier and underlayment for installing in my finished basement, it ended up being a good value as an all-in-one. Performance-wise, I'm happy so far. Walking around on the floor is comfortable and quieter than some other laminate floors I've walked on. Shortly after installation, I had a pipe back up on the unfinished side of the basement and some water ran under the underlayment. Not much, but even so, I've seen no ill effects on the flooring itself, and that was one of the main reasons I purchased this stuff in the first place. Couple things to note: Each sheet comes rolled up tightly, and the inner part of the roll takes a while to straighten out, so I recommend you unroll them a day or two prior to installation and maybe walk around on them to try to flatten them out. I also found it difficult to maintain the recommended space around the sides of the room both because of the movement of the sheets and because freehand cutting with a utility knife meant I wasn't cutting clean edges -- but a handier person could probably do better.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Great product When I decided to finish my basement, flooring was a tough decision. I ended up putting in eng. hardwood floating floor. When it came to the underlayment I did a ton of research before making this purchase. Honestly this was the only product that covered all my needs. 1. Need to cover cold concrete basement floor in Michigan 2. wanted some R value 3. Didn't want to break the bank 4. Easy install 5. quiet Heres what I found with DMX 1. Got the R-value I was looking for, I installed in the winter and it was amazing how much more comfortable the room was once the underlayment was installed. 2. It cost me 1000 bucks to get the large area covered, but compare that to some of the other products out there and I would have spent 5k on underlayment 3. super easy to install 4. After it was done I was amazed at how quiet the floor was. I read a lot of other reviews with other products that had a click to them when installed on concrete. Bottomline - buy it, you wont be disappointed. Also, look up DMX on youtube they have some great info on the product there.

Rated 3 de 5 de par ok, as long as your floor has no issues, people buy this because its cheap and needs zero skill to install, however, here are two things i found out when using this, number one: this does not block the cold if you are putting it over concrete, no matter what the commercials tell you, nomatter what scott tells you, this will not block cold over concrete, number two: this is a hard plastic product , it has no give, so if you put a hard floor directly on top of this, like a hard laminate, your floor will make a lot of creaking noise when you walk on it, so i would strongly recommend that if you a re planning on putting this down on top of concrete and putting a hard laminate on top, spend the xtra money and put a felt underlay on top of this before you put down the laminate, it solved all my noise issues , dont lay the laminate direct on top of this if u want your floors to be quiet.

I need to build up the thickness of the flooring, in order to more closely match an adjoining floor in the (cement) basement. I am using a 1/2" thick engineered click/lock plank. Is there any issue laying sheets of osb on top of this product?

Posée par: Ken P
Even tough not required, there is no problem laying osb or plywood on top of DMX, just make sure you seal the DMX with the tape provided.

I want to use this in an exterior application to divert water. Will the freezing weather compromise this product?

Posée par: Adriene
I believe that it would, but it is really a question for the manufacturer.

Plan on installing laminate floor on top to this. Do I need to put down an underlayment first? If not can laminate with attached underlayment be used?

Posée par: bosco
Hello Bosco: DMX 1-Step 20 is the underlayment, and it is not recommended to install additional underlayments when installing the finished flooring. For additional questions, feel free to contact customer service toll free at 1-855-501-7837. Customer Care DMX

Can you lay an underlayment on top of the DMX and then the vinyl plank flooring. The only reason i ask is so that when it meets up with the flooring in the next room they are at the same height.

Absolutely

Can I install carpet tiles directly on this underlayment?

Posée par: JimB
Although u did not install it my contractor did.  I would say you cannot install carpet rile on top of this as it is not a solid surface.  Over time your carpet tiles would show the same small circles as this item from walking on the carpet with void areas beneath it.

Can it be used on stairs for peel and stick carpet and vinyl ?

Posée par: Whitney
I wouldn't advise it. It floats on the floor, not adhered in any way other than being taped together.

Can this product be installed directly over a concrete slab in a basement before installing a vinyl plank flooring? Would a moisture barrier be required?

Posée par: Hendy
Yes, this can be put directly on concrete w/o an additional moisture barrier. Tape is included with each roll so all DMX 1-step material will become a vapor barrier and subfloor itself.

Can this be used directly over concrete floor? Do you need to use plywood on top of this or can you install floating flooring directly over this membrane?
Posée par: Mike
I layed mine down right on the concrete and then put down subflooring and that was it since it was just going in my shop. DMX is a great product and went down very easy. You should go to their website and download/read the installation manual.
