Rated 1 de 5 de par Don't expect this to cut much Bought this yesterday, used it to cut part way through a tile, and the bit was good for about 20cm's worth of work, but then the bit seems to have gone blunt and does nothing more than start to glow red hot.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Works Great for Outlets This worked well for L cuts around outlets doing a ceramic subway tile backsplash. Way easier than a cutoff wheel in my opinion. Used a tile scorer/breaker for all full length cuts, so this didn't get heavy use during the project. Also this tool is probably safer for a homeowner than using an angle grinder. We'll see if it lasts for future projects. 15,000 rpm and a slow steady motion worked well for me. Would definitely recommend this to anyone who owns a Dremel and is working on a wall tile project.

Rated 5 de 5 de par great for composites ive had the same bit for several years in a manufacturing environment. this bit has held up great i use it on mostly carbon fiber which will dull most bits in a day and this thing mows right through it. i have cut through 1/4 fiberglass with relative ease. not what its designed for but best tool i have found in 8 years of composite work.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Disappointing I need to punch a small hole through 3/8 in porceline tile. The bit does not cut very well at all, either dry or wet.

Rated 3 de 5 de par Too much dust - easy to overheat. Both this bit and the Rotozip tile bits work well enough, but they need a water infusion system to suppress the grout dust. Also you have to to careful not to use too much pressure or the tips burn up and can even get jammed between corner tiles and snap off. I usually use a bottle of water with them, but it's hard to use both at the same time and that's usually what will cause you to snap the bits. They get the job done faster than other methods without tearing up the tile, so I'll still use them.

Rated 5 de 5 de par I used this bit to grind out a little bit... I used this bit to grind out a little bit of a ceramic tile from my backsplash in order to get the cover plate screws for my GFI on. Didn’t realize the GFCI screws were mounted on the top and bottle and didn’t take that in account when I cut the tile openings for the GFCI outlets. The screws were on the top and bottom not the middle like the regular outlets. In hindsight, I should have made the cut on the tile wider, however this bit made easy work out of grinding away what I needed without cracking the tile that had already been set and grouted. Definitely saved me from having to remove the tile.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Not Great I bought it to cut some opening on tile for my shower. This tool wasn't able to anything. I end up burning it after 1'' of cut.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Unfortunate The guy at the store really talked this bit up, bought it and tried it for backsplash and it would not cut at all, just cracked the tiles if it did anything at all. I cannot recommend this product for doing a backsplash.

An associate at home depot sold me a dremel tile cutting bit #562 to cut porcelain floor tile although the package says not for use on floor tile.

If this bit cannot be used what do you recommend?
Posée par: Bobby
I used it to drill through wall tile which ate thinner than floor tiles, but the way it performed I think it would also work on floor tiles but maybe it would burn or wear down quicker on floor tiles.

Does this help cut out grout in bathroom?

Posée par: Courtney
No, for grout use a grout bit like these: http://drillbitsunlimited.com/Grout-Removal-Bits-New-P5402605.aspx

I need to cut an oval in 3/4 in mdf wood, will this have long enough cutting edge to do that?

Posée par: Smskeldon
the bit is for tile, not wood, there are bits that are designed just for your type of application

Will this bit cut artificial stone tile 8mm thick?

Posée par: MARK
Yes. It is a good b practice to keep water near by to keep the bit cool during the process

The diameter is too thin for a router

Misconceptions

Why do Youtube videos show these bits like they cut similar to a hot knife through butter, yet when you get yours home, it’s more like a plastic butter knife through steak, WHEN you’re starving? I have a different bit, slow as molasses... Is this bit all hype too? I’m trying to shape .30 mm porcelain tiles around my sink, preferrably somewhat effortlessly.
