Without the attachment use of this bit will likely lead to tile damage since even with the attachment, careless use can lead to tile damage. The grout removal attachment comes with a 5/16" bit, and this bit works much better for wider grout lines. It did a fine job until it got dull and given that the price is around $10 each, it is suggested to go slow to avoid heating the tip as much as possible to lengthen the life of the bit. I don't think it is possible to sharpen it. Summary: works well when sharp but doesn't last as long as I think it should. Ended up using a oscillating tool with a grout bit to finish the job.

Rated 2 de 5 de par My rating is essentially a result of the fact that the bit broke after only removing the grout around one tile. The tool did carve through the grout quickly however from a durability standpoint and the price of $17-18 per tool, it would become quite expensive if the project required more than one tile. l do not know if the design of the tool having a round carbide tip on what appeared to be tapered shaft or the amount of heat generated by its use that created a weak stress point; but the durability is questionable. As a note, I did use the recommended speed / RPM setting as instructed on the Dremel handbook.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Carbide Grout Removal Bit 1/16" You have to read and measure to make sure the correct amount of bit is below guide. If to much of the bit is below guide will cause bit to break. Proper insertion of bit and measure when guide is on will save the bit, and let the tool do the work don't try to push tool to fast. If you move the tool to fast will cause the bit to break. Their not cheap so do keep that in mind!

Rated 1 de 5 de par Doesn't last at ALL! Using it for a small stand up show on the floor and I expect to go through about 5-6 of these they don't last as ALL, total waste of money

The Dremel 1/8" rotary tool bit for "grout removal" worked well for my application and saved a lot of time over using a manual grout saw. I bought 2 due to some reviewers claiming short tool life but only needed one to complete my 300 sqft project. Please note that I was cleaning thinset from the grout joints , not actual grout. The type of material you are removing will be a significant factor as to the life of the tool bit. They are pricey, especially if the tool life is short, but far easier than using a manual grout saw.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Dremel 569 lasted for a really short time I should have read the reviews before shelling out for a Dremel 3000 plus the expense for a special grout kit. The bit that came in the grout kit is the same as noted here. Using it on the recommended speed it successfully removed grout for about 3 linear feet before the bit went dull. Unfortunately I still have 4 more feet to go. :( (sad face)

Rated 5 de 5 de par Fast accurate grout removal [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used this to remove old grout at the base of our shower. It was fast and accurate. When done I was able to fill in with new grout and make the joint between the ceramic tile walls and terrazo floor look brand new.

This was the only drill bit that I was able to find that will cut my grout between the tiles. Just be careful using it (wear goggles and gloves) because mines broke into 3 pieces while using it. Pushing it in and out should be fine but if you are going to use this to go up, down, or sideways - it will put a lot stress on the bit which will cause it to break. Also, use lower RPM to reduce this risk.

Pool grout removal?

I don't know for sure but I see no reason that is would not work on pool grout. They should be the same basic make up so it should work.

How much area or lineal grout lines should a Dremel 569 bit remove of old grout?

How much area or lineal grout lines should a Dremel 569 bit remove of old grout?
Posée par: Ginny
In my experience, this bit removes about 100 linear feet of grout per bit (angle of cutting, pressure applied, and others will either shorten or lengthen this estimate). Also, it cuts like butter at the beginning, but as it dulls it gets more difficult and more difficult. If I was going to re-do my project, I'd use an angled grinder or something else to remove the majority of grout first, and come back to polish with this bit.
