Rated 5 de 5 de par My GT-225 Grass Trimmer After buying a PB-2520 Power Blower, I decided to buy the GT-225 Grass Trimmer. It was: -easy to start -had good ergonomics -good performance I was reading prior reviews and I can't believe anybody would give this product a bad review for line breakage. As far as engine failure is concerned, mixture ratio might not have been properly followed. Actually the only problem I had was which trimmer to buy, the long straight shaft or the curved shaft. I decided to stay with a curved shaft for ease of going in and out of tight spaces more efficiently.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Plastic Drive wears out I bought mine last summer. It worked well. I just went to start it up today, and the head isn't spinning, even though the engine is running. Shut it down. Take it apart - the connecting interface between the main shaft and the curved shaft is PLASTIC - not a hardy, durable plastic, but a flimsy folded plastic in the shape of "+" for added "rigidity" that was completed worn out...

Rated 5 de 5 de par smarten up people Really? I read the reviews.. This is a great machine! My wife can start it, I run 2 tank of gas thru it at a time trimming my farm yard... no trouble. Guys if your string is breaking off buy the thicker stuff. I have the thickest you can buy and it just wont break. Even trimming around fence posts and trees. As far as the gas any one who leaves the gas in a 2 cycle over the winter needs his head examined. Gas wont go bad in 3 months ever! Check your mixing! 5 out of 5 every day!

Rated 1 de 5 de par line issues The head has something that is supposed to hold the line and you simply put a new line in as the line wears out. The line comes in pieces that are approximately 7 or 8 inches long, and when one piece wears out, you simply push in another line and keep going. The problem is, the jaws that are supposed to hold the line, do not hold it tight enough, hence the line flies out of the head much too often. It's annoying having to stop every 3 or 4 minutes to pickup the line and re-insert it.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Working great. I had bought this on Special within the last week or so since my other weedeater was no longer repairable and has been discontinued as well. So I could not longer get the parts. After doing some research on the many others weed eaters. I decided to get this one. I just had used it today. After reading the manual and getting some extra cords as well just in case the one that were given may not work or break easily. I can only say that it works like a charm. Being a computer technician. We often go through reading books and manuals to keep up to date with the latest things. But with common sense and with what the manufacturer recommends for the type of gas for this. It works and it works well from start to finish And the cords that came with it did not break off like what some of the others have mentioned here. I still have my original ones on and they are still the same size. The only thing I can think of if they are really hitting something hard like a rock, stone, or other hard materials like steel piping that would cause the cord to break off at the bottom. And I went through some really heavy grass in the back side of my pool and it did not bog down. I am sure going to be maintaining this one with the proper measurements of what the manufacturer has mentioned in the manual for it and when winterizing it as well too. . It should last me an easy 20 years.

Rated 2 de 5 de par You’ll spend more time and money on trimmer cable Starts easy. Runs well. But you will need a dozen packs of trimmer line for a year. I don’t have a big yard. Just need to trim a bit around the flowerbed and a small fence. I use a minimum of 6 cord strings every single time. They last maybe 15 seconds and snap off. I spend more time replacing cable than trimming. Going back to my cheap electric trimmer with a bump feeder. So disappointed in the line and quality

Rated 3 de 5 de par Not For N I bought this unit and used it twice. I had been using a pretty serious staight shaft Ryobi trimmer for 15 years before this so the comparison might not be fair. This trimmer did not effectively trim the medium thick grass and weeds however the problems I had may be related to any curved shaft design as opposed to the Echo unit specifically. I was finding that it would bog a bit and get dragged into the lawn, scalding it down to the dirt in spots, I did not like quick load string thing either. I returned it and got the SRM 225 version and found the difference amazing. Only 5 minutes with this straight shaft trimmer and I found what I was missing. It works great. I will write back inten years and let you know how it lasted. Possibly a great curved shaft trimmer but I learned these curved shaft trimmers are not for me. Could not get it to do what I needed doing.

Rated 3 de 5 de par Good but not Great I purchased my GT-225 4 years ago. First off you do not have to cut the line into strips as some have suggested. It does not have a auto line feed, so how do you use the line? You buy them at precut lengths, there is 40 to a tube. I recommend getting the heavier ".130" line, it won't break as easy as the preloaded stuff. You will use at least 40 pieces during a season. Now onto the trimmer itself, it fired up on the first pull. Worked very well for 3 years and then after that not so good. By the fourth year it would start after 7 or 8 pulls. It would stop after 10 minutes of runtime. Now after a minor tuneup into it's fourth year it runs for 5 minutes and then stops working for an hour or two. It is done. I am told it is warrantied for 5 years, but where the heck is my reciept? I would recommend this unit but you need to know what you are getting. I have seen this offered from $149.00 to $198.00 Cnd. For the lower price I would purchase it again but not for the higher price. Some reviews have said this will last for 20 years, it will not. I own my own house with what nowadays would be considered a large yard, the GT-225 is considered "entry level" and for large yards I would consider a larger weed wacker. You will get 3 solid years of service from this little guy and for a $149.00 that is all it owes you.

Does the trimmer come with the automatic tap and go line feeder? Or do I buy that seperatly? Thanks

Posée par: Anonyme
No tap and go, purchase the line in 40 piece tubes. Get the heavier ".130" line. Expect to use 40 pieces in one season for large yards.

my echo trimmer allways stalls when starting up

Posée par: Anonyme
I have not had this problem. Insure you are using fresh gas/oil mix. Always shake gas can before adding to machine, and even shake machine if left sitting for a week. Gas and oil tend to separate out. Make use of the choke when the engine is cold; eventually you will find the right balance. Rev up the engine a few times and let it warm up for 30 seconds before use.

Can't keep the lines in the head they keep coming out. This shouldn't happen even when spinning and no or very little contact with Grass?

Posée par: Artie
Hello Artie. I apologize for the issue: it sounds like the line retention pawl teeth may not fully engage and clamp the trimmer line against the pull forces exerted when the line impacts the shield cut off blade. To address this issue, you will need to consult your nearest servicing ECHO dealer who can be located by visiting our website at www.echo.ca/store-locator.
