Rated 1 de 5 de par Door rotting inside and out and it is less than 2 years old. This is the replacement to the first door that did the same thing; see the photos. I did file a warranty claim which EMCO processed and approved but I doubt that I will be purchasing the same door again. IF you do file a claim, along with pictures of the door itself, send a picture of the door's serial number as well. Also EMCO wants you to bring the door back to Home Depot to get the replacement and if you are not an installation specialist or have a vehicle that can transport the door you then have another problem. The last time, HD sent out someone with the replacement door and took the old oneback. If you do decide to replace the door, I hope you can arrange that.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Good value door! Don't be an idiot and expect a 10 year door for a hundred bucks. That is called being cheap! I read reviews about how the door corroded from the inside out. So when I bought my door I also bought a tube of clear silicone for $4 and I siliconed the very bottom of the door because it was opened to the wood. I also siliconed all joints and I loosened all screws and siliconed before tightening back up. I did this because I live in the northeast where snow will pile up against the bottom of the door. It took me 10 minutes to silicone everything. I let it dry for 2 hours. It then took me about 45 minutes to install because I read the directions twice and install once!

Rated 3 de 5 de par Additional Work Required Its not a bad door but you need to do some additional work to ensure it will last more than a couple years. The core of the door is made out of chip board, not a very good product when subjected to water. I read a lot of the reviews on these doors and saw the pictures posted online and complaints about swelling of the door and failure. The way the door is built you need to seal up around the door frame and window. So I caulked the seems with a good silicone to help eliminate any water intrusion. If you buy the cheapest door offered you need to plan to do a little additional work, so be realistic in your expectations.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Wood Core Expands When Exposed to Moisture All EMCO door which contain a wooden core have a material defect. When exposed to moisture in the air, over time, the wood expands and causes tears and bulging on the seams of the aluminnm skin of the door body. Mine lasted 3 years before EMCO, a subsidiary of Andersen Doors, replaced it. My advice, stay away from all EMCO aluminum skinned doors with wooden cores. The good news is that Andersen stands behind their warranty. I also own an Andersen front storm door, series 3000, and never had any problems with it. Andersen needs to replace the wooden core or sufficiently seal it so that moisture cannot be absorbed.

That screen never had a chance...now looking to replace this door with a door that has the screen at the top.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Terrible door, and terrible warranty Purchased this door in August '09, broke Oct '09. Slight wind caught it and it crumbled like an accordian. Went thru the EMCO "Solution Center" and they denied the claim saying that it is not covered by wind damage. Reviewing the warranty, it says not covered by "severe wind damage". So I guess 20km/h is now classified as a hurricane force winds. They denied it still. This storm door cannot stand up to normal forces of weather, let alone a storm. EMCO will not honour their warranty. Avoid this door at all costs. The only saving grace is that Home Depot will stand behind what they sell and they allowed a replacement so I'm not out $200. I went with and all steel storm door for replacement.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Low Quality Materials I installed this door in 2007 and this week I finally had to contact the manufacturer for warranty replacement. The door has rotted from the inside, the particle board is rotting so badly, the glass almost fell out, when I press on the panels, the door no longer feels solid, but spongy. I removed the window and examined the wood, which was almost solid black and crumbles to the touch. I strongly urge people to save your receipts, because if this door gets wet, and most storm doors do, it will only last a few years. I loved the door when I first installed it, it had a reasonable price and was easy to install. The manufacturer said wrapped in vinyl, but it just has vinyl pieces glued over the particle board, easily allowing water to get inside. The door should have been sealed in vinyl instead. When my warranty claim is processed, I will be upgrading to an aluminum door instead.

Rated 4 de 5 de par GREAT door, "but" Since it's only my wife and I now, we decided to go with this door. It was easy to install, and appears to be sturdy. As to whether it holds up and the particle board core doesn't disintegrate like other reviewers claim is yet to be seen. I use spray automotive wax on my exterior and garage doors twice a year to repel water, so that may help. Although I like this door, there are a couple factors I feel should be considered. First, the hinge bushings are plastic, not brass. If this door will be installed in a high usage area, this will probably be the second area to fail. The first area is the screen. The screen should be on the top, and, it is not installed well at the factory. We had to push the strip that holds the screen in at 2 points on the door. Other than that, this is a great door for the price.

Can it be used on a Mobile Home?

Can it be used on a Mobile Home?
Posée par: Tiffanie
Thank you for posting your concern. All of our storm doors can be installed in a mobile home as long as the door entry opening and the trim meets the requirement being required to install a storm door. Please be advised that the storm door can only be installed on a wood trim and should not be installed as the main entry door. For more information, please visit www.stormdoors.com/measure. - Charmaine

do you have to drill holes to put handle on
Posée par: rav319
yes, you do. it comes with a 3/4" very sharp drill bit. "measure twice cut once". easy mistake to make. so definitely make sure you are cutting the correct side. one way would to be place the door against the opening and mark the hinge side and the lockset side. this will keep you from cutting the hole on the wrong side and make sure when you do measure that you have the side facing the exterior is correct. it seems a lot to think about but you"ll get it what I mean. good luck!

Is this door supposed to have a safety chain to protect the door from being damaged by the wind? ...

Is this door supposed to have a safety chain to protect the door from being damaged by the wind? The one I purchased did not include the safety chain, and I assume that is an oversight. It's a big concern, as we live in a windy area.
Posée par: TheBigDrip
Thank you for your question. We do not recommend installing wind chain on our storm doors. Our experience, which is backed up by tests conducted by our Engineering department, is that a wind chain does not significantly increase the ability of the door to resist wind damage. In fact, our tests indicate that, under certain conditions, the presence of a wind chain may actually increase the likelihood of damage to the door and door jamb. Because of this, we strongly discourage the installation of wind chains on our doors and do not offer one. If you wish, you can certainly install a third-party wind chain on your door. However, if you do this, please be aware of the fact that any damage due to the presence of a wind chain would be excluded from coverage under the terms of the door's Limited Warranty. - Noel

Can this door be converted to an inswing door?

Posée par: Jchut
you may have to alter or add some interior trim. unless your door already swings out then there shouldn't be to much of a problem. if your door swings to the inside you have to take into account the doors lockset position and how much it sticks out into the interiors room. you may have to add on three sides a piece of wood to bring out the screen door to allow it to operate while not hitting the doors or screens door locks together. another way would be to place the door on the opposite side and swing the doors so the lock sets are on different sides are the opposite side

Posée par: Levi
Hi Levi. The instructions are very detailed, so a novice with 4 hours to spare should have no problem installing it. If you're removing an old door-take a couple of pictures for reference. Be sure to ask your Home Depot Associate for the correct type of caulk as well.
