Rated 3 de 5 de par Not bad, but not great. This square is about what you'd expect at its price-point. The machining isn't all that smooth and you can still see tool marks on the square's faces. The straight edge binds somewhat when you slide it if the knob isn't completely loosened. For a square, it's not very square. Testing lines drawn back to back from the same reference edge shows a little over 1/16" deviation from the bottom of the lines to the top meaning the square is about 1/32" out of square. I suppose at it's price and given that it's not being sold as a precision square 1/32" isn't much to quibble about. For general carpentry work or framing and such it's perfectly acceptable.

Rated 5 de 5 de par 16 in. Combination Square Well made product. Just what I have been looking for. There are times when you need a little extra then a 12 in. and this product fills the bill. When I'm working building something I don't need an expensive Combination Square this does me really well. I would reccomend this to anyone that has a shop. Is useful in metal work as well as wood.

Rated 3 de 5 de par Decent product, but not exactly heavy duty I do a lot of precision woodworking, so my measuring and marking tools are critical. It isn't often that I need a combination square that is this long, so I didn't want to spend a few hundred on the machinist quality brand I normally use. The good: The fit and finish were decent. I removed the blade and rubbed it down with paste wax and steel wool. there were a few imperfections, but they rubbed out quickly. the 90 degree is pretty much dead on over the length of the blade on the inside. The outside is a bit off, but this is normal for combination squares. The 45 degree measurement is not as accurate as I would like it to be. Mine was acceptable for about 8". Anything longer got into the unacceptable range. This is not a big deal for me as the 90 degree measurement is most important. The graduations are dead on. The not so good This feels a bit flimsy, especially when extended out past ~10 inches or so. The blade is a bit thin. Because of this, getting a solid positive lock consistently is difficult. So far it has held up, but I don't expect it to for very long. This is a great good value at this price point for sure. To get anything considerably better you would have to spend close to 10 times what this costs. With that said, I think calling it heavy duty is a slight exaggeration.

Rated 5 de 5 de par love it [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I use combination squares more than any other layout tool. I have two of them, this one and the 6" also made by Empire. I really like the length of this one. Being 16", it's great if you need to mark studs quickly. They are extremely accurate, even after a ton of use and abuse. I doubt I'll ever switch brands.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Mostly good, one problem I'm mostly happy with this square. Love the fact that the numbers and lines are scribed rather than just printed. The 90 degree was/is perfect. The 45 degree was not, off about 3/32" over the 16" blade. I'd thrown out the packaging so wasn't sure about returning it. I spent some time with sand paper and got the 45 degree angle satisfactory.

Rated 5 de 5 de par A truly professional tool This is a solid tool with everything you could possible need in a combination square - a very sturdy rule, solid metal construction (it appears to be entirely metal except the level vial for obvious reasons), I highly accurate and readable level vial, and a marking scribe. All the markings are easy to read. At this price, I don't know why anyone would buy a lesser one, note that some of the cheaper ones lack a scribe and are partly made of plastic. I expect this will last a long time through much use and occasional abuse.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Top quality Square This is a very well built Combination square that will last forever. The only thing I wish it had was a small indention on one of the ends of the ruler to make marking more steady when placing a moving mark. But over it is top notch

Rated 1 de 5 de par The square is not square. I only had it for a few hours. After spending hours trying to get some wood squared to no avail, I finally checked to see if the square was really square using a leveling tool. It wasn't. My speed square was though. I tried loosening the nut and moving the blue piece around and re-tightening the nut but I couldn't get it square to save my life. There is just too much slop in the channel that holds the blue piece to the ruler part. Very disappointed. Quality control let this one get by them.

Will this work for window, door, base and top moulding trim? Or should i get a different size?

I am not sure what size to get for all trim moulding, baseboard, crown moulding, door and window trim?
Posée par: Kkkkkkkkk
The 16" scale length may make this too long to fit in some tighter areas. When working on moulding and casing, a 6" or 12" square may be more versitile.
