Rated 5 de 5 de par Professional Grade The Empire High-visibility "speed square" is a sturdy aluminum product. (Made in the USA too) It doesn't have a level built in like my plastic one, but it comes with an awesome little instruction booklet with everything you ever needed to know about its proper use, illustrated standard roofing calculations plus 24 pages of rafter-angle conversion tables. No excuse for cutting mistakes! The high-vis numbers are big enough, but sometimes hard to see against the bright blue glossy surface. I would have preferred a darker base color. I'm keeping the Empire in my tool box along with that great little booklet (in a plastic bag).

Rated 5 de 5 de par Best, and maybe last, rafter square you'll need [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I didn't think there could be much difference between rafter squares, as they seem so simple, but there are a lot of little details that can add up to a great or not so great tool. First, this is solid metal, not plastic, and it's thick, lightweight (aluminum, I think), so it seems very durable while not adding much weight. The biggest improvement over most, especially solid colored plastic ones, is the real high visibility of the markings. Empire has been making some really nice tools lately that will last and won't break the bank, this is definitely one of them.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Great Square with improvements, good price Most carpenters are familiar with the famous "speed square" that this looks like. If you haven't seen one in person, go check it out. The cool blue color is easy to see on a jobsite. The high-contrast markings show up in daylight or at dusk. You can check these as I have. They are all perfectly square. The handy size and lightweight aluminum are great for reducing your weight load. Solid aluminum squares should remain square for centuries. Even if you throw this under a truck and bend it, they only cost ten bucks to replace. Deal!

Rated 5 de 5 de par Durable and visible I've had an Empire "Polysquare" version for about 20 years now and it is my go-to tool. I'm not a framing carpenter, just a DYI guy. But I use this kind of square all the time. Mainly, I use it as a saw guide for quick cross cuts. Although the plastic Polysquare works OK, I lost it many times due to the gray color. Also nicked it and damaged it with tools. So, this upgrade was in order. It works just like my old square and is improved to have a handy center of gravity peg board hook hole. And of course it is metal and the unique color stands out. I have no other tool like this color. I won't lose it anymore. I have no problem with the weight. It is still very lightweight, not too much different than the Polysquare version.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Great Square Living in AZ I prefer tools that can be in the heat and not get to hot. This square was left out in a 100 degree heat and I could still pick it up. The booklet for rafter work seem informative and helpful. I could not do w/ out a square and this one is really great, so light and clearly marked. I am very happy w/ this tool.

Rated 5 de 5 de par SQUARE I have used many other brand name Rafter Square's but I some reason have trouble keeping up with my Rafter Squres but I picked up the Empire Rafter Square liked what I saw. Liked it so much that I got myself two of them. The Empire was easy to read, had a better lip side of any Rafter Square I have used. Just the best Rafter Square I have had or seen. Hands Down To Be The Best Made Rafter Square I Have and I Have One In My Shop That I Got From A Company That Is To Be The Best You Can Get. The Empire is Better Than My Woodpecker Brand

Rated 5 de 5 de par These Speed Squares Are Great The best 'visibility' aspect is that it'll scream at you wherever you are ... and what good is a tool if you can't find it quickly? This square is robust and the markings are good ... etched, so that you can burnish is a black if you don't like the white. I'd never call anything less than a 12" speed square a "rafter square"; but for 6" or lower lumber, it's fine. Fits comfortably and securely in your belt pocket. Hey, and the instruction are clear and concise.

Rated 5 de 5 de par The bee's knees This square is awesome. I use it all the time for rafter cuts, square cuts, angle cuts, you name it it marks it. It's high quality, the paint's been good on it so far, I've had it for a little over two years of near-daily use.
