Rated 3 de 5 de par Handy for what I need [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These calipers are great for a quick measurement. They are great as they don't need a power source and are not too expensive for what you are getting. You get a quick accurate easy measurement every time and can be confident in your project. They are easy to use one handed, and fit in your hand comfortably. Sometimes simplicity is key as you know that it is going to work every time.

No instructions came with the product, but as I experimented with it I was repeatedly delighted to figure out what each thing was for: the thumb adjustment, the 1/10 mm scribe lines, the interior measure, the exterior measure, and the hole depth measure. I love it. I actually used it to measure the depth of the notches on some keys, and to measure the size (5mm) of shelving pegs I needed to order. It is definitely a top-drawer item for me now. Awesome.

This in itself is not a flaw, but every other line is stamped crooked!! Worst part is when they are crooked, it is at the part where the moving scale meets the larger scale, so depending on the reading, it can be wildly inaccurate (relatively, but this is a vernier caliper with a stated margin of error of ±1/256"). You don't need fancy gauge blocks to confirm this, the lack of precision is pretty obvious. On the one I have, when you zero the calipers, you get a reading of -0.2mm. But the funny thing is, you get 0" flat when you read the inch scale. The discrepancy between the in/mm readings varies across the scale. I got this caliper as a cheap option to measure bore depth a while ago (not something I need to do very often), and I only noticed the inaccuracy when my digital calipers broke down so I reverted to the old school version, but when I checked it against feeler gauges, I realized this thing is not a precision measurement tool by any means. Now I'm left wondering how many incorrect measurements I've made with this in the past couple months I've owned it. To be fair, if you need to measure outside/inside dimensions with lower tolerances, this is a decent option. But if you need tolerances within anything less than 1/16", I wouldn't recommend this caliper, especially with the prices of digital ones being what they are today. P.S. Not bashing on analog tools at all, there are some very unforgiving analog calipers and (especially) micrometers, but this is not a good example of them.

Rated 4 de 5 de par purchased to replace an old one I would recommend this caliper. I like it because it doesn't move easily and it does what I need it to do for my work.

How do I read it?

I can't see the measurement in inches because the jaws are covering up the inch scale. I had to get a ruler and measure the space from jaw to jaw to get an inside diameter.
Posée par: Teri
It is off set so the jaws do not cover it. The viewing area is in the middle... to get familiar with it you can close the jaws completely, observe the reading it should read "0"then widen in slowly to see the how the numbers change.
