Everbilt 1/4 HP 2-in-1 Utility Pump – The last time that I used my old utility pump it was making noise like a bearing or bushing going bad. I used to use it to pump to small amounts of water out of basements and sump pits of houses we were building. Now, I use it in the spring to keep water from melting snow and rain around my shop from getting too high. It’s also cheap insurance if my sump pump dies. I ordered this Everbilt pump because I liked the dual-use functions as a submersible and a transfer pump. Although, I won’t need it for a few months, I tested it as a submersible and as a transfer pump by pumping water from a 5-gallon bucket; it worked fine for both functions. As a transfer pump, it took a few tries to get it primed before it started pumping, not a big deal, but annoying. Otherwise, it is smooth running, quiet and moves a lot of water quickly. In my case I used it to drain my 150-gallon spa. It did a very fast a good job. In one of the photos attached I show the hose pressure as it was pumping it over a 7-foot wall. Impressive. When used as a utility pump there is one small adjustment. The hose does not come out of the top of the pump. It comes out of the side. That makes placing leveling the pump in the bottom of the spa a little awkward. It wants to tip over. The pump does come with extensions on the bottom and on the handle that help keep it level when placed up against the side of the spa, or whatever you are pumping from. My problems with the pump came when I tried to use it in what they call the transfer pump mode. When used in the utility mode the pump according to the manufacturer drains down to 1/2 inch. If you want to drain more than that, down to 1/16 inch, it is necessary to make some adjustments. The bottom of the pump opens, and a provided hose is attached. Then a provided suction strainer is attached to that hose. Then a plug needs to be removed and water poured into a small hole to prime the pump when used in the function. This should allow you to drain the last of the water below 1/2 inch. I had no luck. I tried priming it 4 times and it would never suck in water from the bottom of the spa. So, I tried something else. I re-filled the spa and then put the suction piece in where is was well under water. I then primed the pumped and tried using the transfer function, as the manufacturer calls it. Again, no luck. I was just not able to get that function to work. When priming it takes quite a bit of water and I poured water into the hole until it was full. It just would not work. So, if you don't need to pump below 1/2 inch this is a great pump. But if you do, then this pump is not worth the hassle. You would be better off to buy a pump that sits lower and you will not have to fool with trying to prime a pump to get it to work. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 de 5 de par Could not use transfer function During major rainstorm both my 1.5hp sump pumps failed. Tried emptying sump with shopvac but could not keep up, plus dragging and lifting was killing me. Dashed to Home Depot and picked up this pump because I could use my garden hose to take the water away although I worried about the pump being only 1/4hp. I tried for 20 minutes to prime the pump but to no avail. Maybe I should have fully prefilled the inlet hose but that was not feasible standing in 3” of water in a rainstorm. In the end I lowered the pump into the pit and it started pumping first time. Even with water entering at a fast clip the pump managed to slowly reduce the water level and with the aid of the shopvac I managed to get enough water out to service the first pump and prevent my crawl space filling with water. So, despite the transfer pump function not working it did the job admirably. It’s a good pump but I recommend the manufacturer gives more precise instructions on how to prime the pump. What they provide is not enough.

Everbilt 1/4 HP 2-in-1 Utility Pump is a win-win for anyone who wants two pumps in one. Thoroughly satisfied with this pump. Let’s see why. First off, this unit is very well made and solid. A hefty 8.0 pounds, the pump is built to high standards of durability with reinforced corrosion-resistant thermoplastic. From the strengthened ‘filter’ basket-weave cover on the intake to the total construction, this Everbilt pump is constructed for work. The construct is inspired in that you get 2 pumps out of this. One pump feature is the standard Submersible application such as deeper water like ponds, ditches, hot tubs and areas with standing water that need removal down to 1 inch. On the other hand, you have a pump that works as a Transfer pump. This facet is so cool because all it takes is an instant unsnap of half the basket filter base to expose an intake valve opening and you just screw the hose to the intake and you are set for lateral operation. The pump is inaudible (makes no sound when operating as a submersible) and FAST. This pump extracts between 1300 -1600 GPM as a standing submersible and it transfers 730-950 GPM in lateral position. (I drained a 23,000-gallon pond in 14 minutes.) It comes with a 3-foot clear hose with a reinforced spring collar at one end of the two female couplings connection, and a removable/attachable filter attachment for use when transferring liquids. Nice perk in order to keep out particles larger than a grain of sand. This is a perfect pump for anyone with a pond. (Personal observation here) It has the power and ability to handle whatever the pond can throw at you. Excellent value for the money and has a 2-year warranty. Highly recommend. The pump comes complete with sturdy female/female hose and suction strainer. The pump housing is durable plastic and the cord is nice and long, allowing for more outlet options. The hose was a bit of problem for me out of the box, it's a heavy duty hose rolled up into a small box and it took a lengthy amount of time in the sun for it to relax so it was usable. As a submersible pump the function is quick and easy, just drop the pump in and plug it into an outlet to get going. However, I had a rather difficult time getting it to function easily as a transfer pump. Before operating as a transfer pump you have to prime the pump by pouring water into the priming port and then closing it up. I went through this process at least a dozen times before I could get it to run consistently. All-in-all I would purchase this product again, as use a submersible pump is really what I was looking for. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

So this is a really nice pump, its very versatile, you can use it as a submersible pump or as a utility pump (out of the water). I ran this pump for two hours flushing my tankless water heater. Quiet and strong, work all the way through without any issues. I love the fact that I can use it outside as a utility pump as well as a submersible, really one pump for two functions. Very nice. Seems to be built very nicely, Instruction are clear. Really impressed with this pump. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
