We bought this for our fabrication shop because of its ability to cut compound miter cuts in thin gauge steel for welding prep (the only other cold saw that can do this on metal will run you $16,000). For wood, you would be much better off purchasing a DeWalt for similar money. For steel and aluminum we found that it had a lot of blade deflection (slow and fast cuts showed about 1/32" sharp deviations on 1"-1.5" material) and still left a little bit of a burr. I would recommend wearing long sleeves, a mask and hearing protection- this thing is loud and throws a lot of sharp metal flakes. Our band saw does a much better job of cutting clean and square with a lot less noise.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Richard Maunder I use one of these saws in the U.K. they are the best for cutting wood if it is dirty or with nails in I looked to buy one in Arizona and could not find one in the U.S.A. until now. In the U.K. I cut about 5 to 8 ton of firewood with mine each winter I use some old wood like pallets and it's just right for these because of the nails. Worth every $$$$$$$$$ and £££££££££. Thank you.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Pretty cool saw Very happy with purchase, was able to complete my project about 75% faster with this saw as compared to using my old cut-off saw. A little unhappy with some of the materials used for some of the parts (Plastic), when cutting metal you should have an air-hose handy to blow off the metal cuttings or they will melt the plastic and stick to it, i even notice that the angle guide was being distorted by the metal cuttings sticking to the plastic coating and melting it. All-in-all happy with the performance.

I am also a finish carpenter. The blade that comes with the saw is for "general purpose". If this guy with the fabrication "shop" was trying to use this blade for professional work, then that was part of his issue. He then claims his band saw works better. They are two "DIFFERENT" saws??? Take your Band-saw with you to a work site too...exactly. Many don't have room for a big bulky band-saw. This saw has been shown to work for many people. All over the internet. Check YouTube. Only buy the Dewalt if you make money with it. Otherwise completely unneeded for the non-professional, expensive and only cuts wood.

I bought it only to cut mild steel. I was glad I bought the steel specific blade, the blade that came with this saw went dull six cuts in cutting 14ga tubing. The laser was awesome until the chips from the metal blade pitted the plastic cover (second day). I really wish the knobs were metal instead of the flimsy plastic that's used. I see them breaking over time. Positives are the motor feels good, sliding action and mitering action is smooth, and I have a mag drill from this same brand that I've used quit a bit and love it. So I hope this lasts as well.

I did my research and the value was great. The saw works as expected. The dust collection sucks, but I grew up no minding that much. After looking at what other saws do; this really sucks, big time. But I kept going. I am doing now fine detailed work, and the blade sucks. So I researched and I wanted a Freud blade, because their saw blades are fantastic. Guess what the arbor is 1 inch! You simply cannot find a good quality 10 inch blade for 1" arbor, they are all 3/8. Don't buy this piece of junk, save money and but a better saw. If you buy it, you'll be stuck with sawdust in your lungs and a bad evolution blade.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Most Awesome saw I've ever owned! I've used this metal cutting saw on steel and aluminum so far and it is unreal how easy it cuts. The finish on the metal after cutting is near perfect. So much better than using an abrasive chop saw. The coolest thing is how the cut metal is not hot at all after the cut. You can pick it up and handle it directly after cutting.

Rated 3 de 5 de par Unique saw that will be great when it is refined Overall, I am happy I bought this spendy saw. This saw cuts most metals well. Be careful to not use the "Steel" blade or "Regular" blade on hardened tool steel. Unlike a grinding chop saw that will just cut it, you will ruin the Evolution blade. The laser guide is a little difficult to turn on because of its size and the protective covering. Remember to true-up the fence with the blade so that it is at 90 degrees with each other. The one I got was about 3/16" out of true. Also, remember that the laser guide is in the center of the blade so you have to account for the kerf of the blade to see where you are actually cutting. Wear protection on your face and left arm because the saw throws small, sharp shards of metal everywhere. The fence clamp is useful because pieces tend to walk when you cut at a 45 or tilted at 45 degrees.

What's the differences in this model and the cheaper model (less than 200$) that is identical in size and appearance.?

Posée par: JeremyW
Direct drive from the motor vs belt driven. A belt is superior way to cut.
