Rated 1 de 5 de par Nice Barrel, Not so nice plastic Spigot that leaks I ordered this barrel and was rather excited that it was made in Canada and is BPA free (contacted the manufacturer to verify). However, I hooked it up and after the first rainfall it was leaking everywhere. I tried to tighten the hose to the plastic spigot as that is where it seems to be leaking from, and the plastic spigot broke right off. Upon examination it looked like it had just been glued on. Deeply dissappointing. I might have been able to fix it with some epoxy, but home depot said it would void my return (which makes sense). It was a real pain to package this back up for a return though.

Rated 5 de 5 de par 315 Litre rain barrel from FCMP Solid, sturdy, thoughtful design. Delivered quickly. Easy to assemble. Easy to keep screen clean using garden hose under pressure. FCMP was quick and helpful in replacing the screen, which had arrived slightly damaged. Easy to connect multiple barrels in series if desired. Overflow hose struggles to carry away excess water during periods of intense, heavy rain. A very good purchase, overall.

Rated 3 de 5 de par Great capacity, reasonable price I have two of these hooked up in parallel to 3/4" copper piping and mounted on a stand. Not sure what the other reviewer is talking about with glued on spigot. The barrels appear to be made of HDPE and either cast or welded together. My setup has absolutely zero movement of the hoses coming off the barrels and I've had no problems with stress related damage to the spigot. I can't comment on whether the same would be true if using the hose directly connected to the barrel. Capacity and the price was reasonable compared to other purpose manufactured rain barrels on the market. On the downside, the spigot is only 1/2". I would have preferred something larger. The linking setup is designed primarily for a series connected setup via linkage spigots that can be drilled at the top. You can set up a parallel setup using the existing 1/2" spigots at the bottom, but the transfer flow is very slow that way. I've actually used both to better deal with equalizing the barrels when the inflow rate is high. The overflow is poorly designed at the back of the barrel. The top of the barrel has a lip which extends back down into the barrel about 5/8" for strength, but with high inflow rates. also creates a vacuum sealed space about the overflow. This can be corrected by drilling a few small holes in the top-rear of the barrel to better allow air into the space as the water overflows. All said, these barrels work pretty well for the purpose, but a few minor design limitations leave some room for improvement.

Rated 3 de 5 de par Good capacity but... The rain barrel itself is fine - the shade of green could be better - but the screen is junk. Unlike in the picture, it is a thin black plastic ring and the metal screen is very soft and easily pierced. When the sun heats it, it warps so there is no mosquito protection. It's not hard to rig up a screen of your own, but why should you have to in the first place? Given it was all that was on offer at this capacity, I'd still recommend it but with reservations.

should rain barrel stay connected to downspout in winter ?

Posée par: Anonyme
I don't think so. When installing rain barrel, save the portion of your downspout removed to facilitate filling the barrel. At the end of the season, re-install the removed section for the winter.
