Rated 3 de 5 de par A Good Product, but Misrepresented Let's get the negatives out of the way first. Home Depot lists this set as having "2 outside blades with 5 2-wing chippers." It DOESN'T. It has ONLY THREE CHIPPERS. This is significant because if it DID have 5 chippers, then one could cut all widths of dadoes in 1/8" increments right up to 7/8" without having to resort to spacers. As it is, you can only cut up to 5/8" without the use of spacers. A 3/4" cut will require spacers. The incorrect listing is the main reason I can't give this blade a higher rating. Of course, the fault here lies with Home Depot and not Freud. To be more precise in my rating, I'd give Freud 4 stars and Home Depot 2 stars. Now that we have that out of the way, on to the set itself. As to quality of cut, the blades cuts cleanly in plywood both with and across the veneer grain. Edges are crisp with virtually no tear-out, and the bottoms of the dado clean and flat. In melamine, the results are a bit less impressive, with more chip-out than I would like. For me, this is significant (hence the 4 and not 5 stars). I build many kitchen cabinet drawers from melamine, so I cut a lot of slots for drawer bottoms. But for those who work mostly in solid wood or plywood, this set will serve them very well. The set comes with a handy chart for which cutters and spacers are needed for standard imperial/SAE widths. The sizing of the blades and chippers themselves makes cutting standard widths in 1/8" increments incredibly easy, since the outer blades together cut a 1/4" slot and each of the chippers adds 1/8". For undersized or metric plywood thicknesses, you are on your own. Inexplicably, some of the included shims have their thicknesses etched on the surface, while others do not. Knowing the thickness of a shim is useful for recording combinations which were successful with a particular type of plywood. I'm not sure why Freud chooses to implement this helpful feature inconsistently. A sturdy plastic case with moulded handle holds and protects the blades. I prefer this to the somewhat fragile wooden case included with my previous dado set. In short, this is a good product, hampered by an inaccurate representation. If HD were to correct their listing, I would give it at least 4 stars.

Rated 5 de 5 de par I have several older dado sets that have seen a lot of use and are at the end of their usability. I purchased the Freud set the other night and of course had to go home and try it out. It is an unbelievably smooth cutting set. The blade system is far superior to all others that I have looked at and and lightyears ahead of the old ones I was using. the 8 metal shims in varying thicknesses give you the ability to make the exact cut you need. The bottom of the cut is completely smooth and free of any extra trimming needed. I tried it in MDF, Melamine and plywood as well ran a piece of oak through it and it does a flawless job. Even the Melamine with the particle board interior is cut exact to the size and needs no extra work to start gluing. With out a doubt the nicest set I have used and should be the first purchase for anyone who has gotten themselves a table saw and wants to start using it to the maximum.
