Rated 5 de 5 de par Great switch Some idiot disconnected the light fixture from the junction box and the wall switch some years before I moved into the house. While I was able to reconnect the nm cable from the light fixture to the junction box above the ceiling, I could not find the nm cable from the light switch. Instead of opening up the drywall to install a light switch box under the light fixture, I decided that the easiest and most economical solution was to install a pullchain switch.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Worked great as a replacement Used to replace a pull chain that had broken in my existing ceiling fan. Only complaint is that they only offered it in a gold or silver color. Was wanting a polished brass type color. Fortunately we have high ceilings so hardly noticeable.

Are there external threads on the switch where a light cover or extension would attach?

Posée par: Chris
Hey Chris, it sounds like you've never installed a switch like this? If you will notice that there is a sort of nut on the unit where the chain exits. It has notching in it so you can, with ease, loosen or tighten the switch should you wish to install it through a hole. Yes, there are threads where this knob screws and unscrews.

There are two wires to this device. All the instructions say is one wire goes to the LOAD and the other to LINE. What is considered the Load and what is considered the Line??
Posée par: Steve
On this type of switch, either wire can be connected to the load (light bulb) side or to the line side (pwr). What this switch does is break/connect the circuit on the line side of the load. You know the plug in cords with the switch on them, works the same way, except it is inside the housing of what is being switched on/off. Now that I've gotten you completely confused I'll go away.

Is there any way to put both this switch, and an electrical outlet, into a ceiling receptacle box, in order for the switch to act as a switch for the box. I need to control a shop-light that doesn't have its own switch but uses a grounded plug.
Posée par: LarryS
Shut off power as it sounds like you're a novice & I don't want you to electrocute yourself. If you can drill a hole in the receptacle plate the same diameter as the shaft of the switch, do it. Mount the switch on the inside of the receptacle plate and attach one of the wires of the switch to one of the side contacts of the receptacle. Connect the black or the white wire to the other side terminal and tighten screws. Now with a wire nut take the black or white wire that is not connected to anything and place it together with the free wire from the switch, place wire nut over them and bring them together. I like to wrap a 6" piece of electrical tape around the wire nut as it keeps it even more secure. Replace the receptacle cover and tighten the two or more screws, plug the light in, reactivate the power, and you now have a workable pull switch.

Can 3amp pull chain switch be wired directly to a 110 feed.

Posée par: Teg
Hi and thanks for the question. This pull-chain switch can be wired to a 110 outlet and should work fine for the application as long as all wiring according to the specifications. Hope this helps!
