Rated 5 de 5 de par Excellent unit I've had it a year and half now, and just installed my third filter cartridge. This system is excellent, providing filtered cold water for the kitchen faucet as well as the refrigerator icemaker. Unlike other under-sink filters that require a separate small spigot and only s-l-o-w-l-y fill a drinking glass, this system flows enough water to fill an entire coffeepot in reasonable time. Installation was easy, although I did have to go around the corner to the hardware store for a couple of fittings and valves to put it in just the way I wanted in our old house. For a more typical kitchen with all modern faucets and plumbing, it should be a breeze. Definitely recommend!

Rated 1 de 5 de par Poor design Like other reviewers I had to buy extra parts to make this work with a new faucet. But worse is the connection to the supply line. It comes apart easily, like when bumped. It even says in the directions that that if you over tighten the nut the connection will separate. So after a few attempts I got it to work with out leaking. But when I went to thing back under the sink and bumped the tube that connects to the filter it came apart and started spraying water everywhere. Needless to say this is going back to HD. I understand trying to make installation easy but it should not be done at the cost of good design. A water leak can result thousands of dollars of damage. I know, it's happened to us before.

Rated 3 de 5 de par Good for removing chlorine odor and bad taste but not for removing TDS I had this installed under my kitchen sink about a week back. It does a good job of removing chlorine odor and bad taste. However when I tested the water with a TDS meter it gave a 540+ ppm. TDS stands for Total dissolvable solids and according to federal regulations drinkable water should have less than 500 ppm. So this filter is not good at removing TDS.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Couple issues The ease of set up and taste of the water was great. The water does come out a bit cloudy, but it clears up in seconds. I did find that the device leaks if the filter gets to the end of the life. You need to start checking about a month before its normal life cycle.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Ge Water Filter I researched the internet and read lots of reviews before I decited to pick the filter. Needless to say I was a little leary about the push in lines. After figuring where to locate the filter , I marked the holes and mounted the top unit. I removed the cold line to sink and installed the line in the kit. Don't laugh, a plummer hooked a shutoff valve for the dishwasher on the cold water side (dishwashers are only connected to hot water) the only thing you have to worry about is cutting the tubing straight. I used a heavy duty razor knife. Push the lines in as far as thety will go. once the lines were installed I installed the filter and every thing was good. We live in Florida and are on public water and the water has a odor and taste. Not any more the water is good as in northern mountains . I would highly recommend this unit.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Good, but not great. I bought this filter to replace a faucet-mount type that I have never really had success with - either they leak or they simply fall off when bumped. That got annoying very quickly, and the lost space under the faucet didn't help. I did not want (or didn't have room for) a filtration unit with a separate faucet, so I decided on one of the full-flow units. I picked this one because I figured the filters would be readily available at Home Depot (they are). The unit itself is solid and the filtered water is as good as or better than my "top of the line" Pur faucet-mount. My only complaint with this unit is the installation. On the unit itself, there are 3/8" OD push-to-connect fittings. It comes with 6' of the appropriate PEX tubing. GE includes a 1/2" FIP to 3/8" OD push-to-connect fitting along with the unit, which is brilliant because all you have to do is thread the fitting onto your existing faucet stem and push the tubing in (I love Sharkbite-type fittings and all of their variants). Great. That's half the installation right there. What GE instructs you to do for the other half is create a compression joint with the tubing, which is difficult to do leak-free. Ideally, you would use one of the pre-cut ends on the tubing (not your own cut, which almost certainly won't be straight). I did this, and it still leaked. Something about a plastic tubing insert, a plastic ferrule, and PEX tubing just didn't work. The joint never seemed tight and leaked when under pressure. Fortunately, I had planned ahead and picked up another fitting (Watts PL-3027) for this purpose. It is 1/2" MIP to 3/8" OD push-to-connect, so what I ended up doing was using my existing braided line to connect to the fitting (thus allowing the use of the rubber cone washer inside the supply line) and then the rest of the install was just push-to-connect from that fitting to the filter housing. Everything worked fine after that. It's a longer hose run and it creates an additional joint, but I have a lot more faith in these joints than I do in a homemade PEX compression joint. There's also the added benefit that should I need to change the connection, I can easily reconnect with my existing supply line. All in all, I'd recommend it because for the price and the filter capacity (2,000 gallons versus 100 for a filter mount) you can't go wrong. It takes up very little space under the sink so that shouldn't be an issue. The only issue is as stated above - get a fitting (make sure you get the right one!) so you can use your existing braided line and avoid making your own compression joint.

Rated 2 de 5 de par Bought this to replace an Omni Filter which had started to leak. The GE did not come with the app... Bought this to replace an Omni Filter which had started to leak. The GE did not come with the appropriate connections or adapters to fit newer faucet designs that already have a 3/8 female fitting, so be prepared to go back to the store for additional parts (hope you are handy, it takes some knowledge to adapt this). The box/description says full flow, but it cuts the flow rate in half right out of the box. The filter change indicator is a 180 day timer, so it does not have any clue when the filter actually needs to be changed based on the filter itself. It does filter the water adequately, but based on the reduced flow already I doubt it will last 180 days. Based on the cost of the replacement filter, I'll probably buy new seals for my Omni or just buy a new one.

Rated 4 de 5 de par easy and inexpensive This was very easy for me, as a woman to install, and it saves me lots of money having to go to the water store and get water containers filled every month. This last several months and filter is easy to replace. and is out of the way, under the sink. I bought one that was hooked to the faucet and was always inthe way. this one was just right. and out of the way.

I am unable to remove my old filter on the GXULQ filter system.

I have followed the instructions turn 1/4 turn and pull down, but it will not release. Is there anything else I can try? Do you have to pull down really hard? I am afraid I will break it if I pull down to hard. Any advice will be appreciated. I purchased the system from Home depot about 8 months ago. Thanks DLF

Same problem. Finally used a strap wrench which gave me required leverage. Success!

Will this filter help me with rust?

can i use it for washing machine
Posée par: alona
Yes, I have clear water rust and it does help. I doubt the filter will last anywhere near 180 days if you have rust though.

can I use this as a pre fiter for my fridge

Posée par: hair
It should work pretty good for a fridge since you don't need as much flow/pressure, but you will need to have some skill to adapt the connections since a fridge is usually 1/4 in. but this has 3/8 in. tubing and fittings.

Once filter cartridge is installed, is it necessary to flush filter before using...no directions came with product...

Posée par: Ro
Yes, but unlike other filters it doesn't have a lot of carbon initially flushed out so you probably don 't need to flush for the typical 5 minutes.
