Rated 4 de 5 de par I love this product I read a majority of the complaints before buying this, but I also watched installation videos on the manufacturer's web site. The instructions included do not give an adequate representation of the installation process. After watching the videos, however, I felt like a pro. I did have difficulty with the first window, but the key is to keep everything wet with the solution. The remaining windows were a breeze. Yes, the product will stick to itself, but if you're careful and go slow, you can have great looking windows. I've already noticed a reduction in the heat coming in from my west-facing windows and will be excited to see how much my cooling bill be lowered.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Broken Glass - Too Much Heat!!! We used this product and less than 24 hours later our 4' x 5' window cracked on the inside and continued to crack until the only thing holding it together was the film. We now have to spend over $1000 to replace the glass. The reason was explained to me from a glass manufacturer: when you apply this film to a double paned window, the sun reflects off of the film and overheats the gas between the windows causing the glass to crack. There is nothing on the instructions as a warning that this may occur. The window manufacturer told us that this product would have been better applied on the outside of the window, which again, is not described as an option and I probably wouldn't have bought it

Rated 5 de 5 de par Very effective and easy to install I purchased enough product to cover 4 large windows (8' x 6') and various small windows. Total install time from start to finish was about 5 hours. Three of the large windows face west so we were getting intense sun for about 5 hours during the afternoon which made our second floor scorching and the A/C was unable to keep up. The difference once the tint was installed was astounding, at most the temperature on the second floor is now about 3-5 degrees higher on a hot summer day. It's been up for about a year and no bubbling or peeling and it still lets enough warmth through in the winter. I've recommended it to a few neighbors and I will be installing it at a few of my relatives houses.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Just as advertised Highly recommend that you watch the How to Videos and READ the directions before you start. The product was very easy to cut and install (watch the video). I used 3 and a half rolls altogether on 7 large multi panel windows and had no problems (if small bubbles appear in the first 24 hours just leave them and they will go away) . The product has a grayish tinge (like sunglasses) after installation. Definitely made a difference in heat transfer to our home and I like that I don't have to chase the sun around opening and closing blinds worrying about fading the furniture or pictures any more. Would highly recommend and will diffidently use this product again.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Very effective and OK installation We installed these screens since our apartment faces west and we easily had 110 in the apartment when the outside was above 95. It improved situation immensely. We also noticed that during the winter the two rooms where we installed the film were much easier to warm up than the one without it (it wasn't facing west so we did not bother installing it there). Our main suggestions are: do it with 2 people and try first on a window/smaller surface just to get hang of it. Also, don't do it if the sun is facing the windows directly -- it will dry too fast and it will be hard to adjust the film. Don't cut pieces too large -- it makes harder to fill the corners evenly and wastes the film.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Film just peeled off my patio doors overnight I ordered this window film for my west facing patio doors and east facing windows, and applied the film by instructions in the afternoon. It looked fine overnight even the next morning when I left for work, but when I was home from work, the film just all peeled off the doors. Such a waste of money and my time. Very disappointed experience. I was referred to the manufacturer for warranty claim, very likely they are going to send me new films instead of refunding me. Do you really think I want to repeat the nonsense work again? Go for alternative ways for heat control if you could, this kind of window film doesn't work as expected, and not worth a try.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Heat Reflective Tint Fairly easy to install if you prep the window accordingly, ensure you use good fresh razors when trimming the excess. As always measure twice and cut once! keep product saturated with soapy water or use the kit spray, either way you can't keep this stuff wet enough when applying. Once you have it all in place it's got a great silver mirror tint on the outside great for privacy as long as there is a stronger light source on the outside of the window. Greatly reduced the heat coming through the windows applied to and the house as a whole is noticeably cooler now and easier to keep cool in the summer heat!!!

Rated 5 de 5 de par Window film I bought this for my patio doors off my bedroom. The only trouble I had was getting the film off the mirrored part of the covering. It took me well over 45 minutes to get the corner started. I used baby shampoo instead of the gila window spray . I looked it up as I have to order everything where I live and it recommended a non alkaline shampoo such as baby shampoo. use 1/4 teaspoon in one litre of bottled water. It worked just fine. Make sure you cut your film bigger than the window so you can adjust it for a good fit. Other then that make sure you have no hair lint or dirt on your window and your good to go. Hope this helps.

Does this product be peeled off during winter and put back again in summer the following year? Will there be any negative impacts during winter or designed to retain internal heat?

Posée par: MMag
It can easily be peeled off but very difficult to put back on. No negatives for keeping it on through the winter except it blocks warmth from winter sun. Not designed to retain heat

is it mirrored to the outside and would this also provide privacy?

Posée par: debw
It is mirrored on the outside but only during the day. At night, the mirrored effect is gone, and you can see inside a home. It looks great and serves valuable purposes. Definitely controls the heat coming in and also provides privacy from anyone passing by outside your home from seeing inside. Even when you get close enough with your nose to the window, all you will see is yourself during the daytime.

No its just like when your in your vehicle. The only issue I had was , not having an extra set of hands. We have them on our south side cathedral ceiling windows

How reflective is this to the outside?

I have large floor to ceiling windows in manhattan. I am concerned about putting this up and making my windows too reflective, like a saftey hazzord or something if people look at it.....

Looking from the outside in, the glass just seems to be dark like sunglasses.

I have a glass slider which I would like to tint. With its size, will it be difficult to do? Also is the tint completely removable if using the adhesive? Is there an alternative to using the adhesive which might be more easily removable. I live in an apartment and the management might want it removed if I move out.
Posée par: Beanie
Beanie, Window tinting is pretty simple to put up but do have a new razor knive. A dull blade makes the corners impossible. Also recommend that after you precut the material that you use a bigger scrap piece and practice installing and curing in the corner. You will see what I mean about the material and the careful attention it takes to cut it in. Also follow the how to on Home Depot’s self help. Removing the tint is much easier to remove. Their are YouTube videos on that if not on Home Depot. Best of luck and feel free to ask for clarification from here.

Will this keep my home warmer in the winter?

Posée par: Tracy
I would not expect it to help in the winter unless you are using a radiant heat source. If anything, I expect it would block any heat from the sun, as little as that may be in the winter depending on which way your window faces and how far north you are.
