They work fine with dimmer switches, and have been installed in contact with both loose fiberglass and roll fiberglass insulation with no problems, with both the 5.3W and 6W GU10 LED bulbs that Home Depot stocks in store (Ecosmart and Phillips). The attached wiring boxes take 1/2" size metal cable clamps, and while the instructions say to cut 3-7/8" holes, 3-3/4" holes work, and the Milwaukee adjustable hole cutter that Home Depot stocks in store worked fine for 10 holes through drywall.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Attractive multi-use fixtures [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I found these to be great for both a main lighting source for a bedroom, but also-since they are adjustable, a great fixture for accent lighting. If you are considering a purchase of these lights, please note that they are designed to use a specific Halogen light bulb, so putting in a regular light bulb will not work. Bulbs for these fixtures average from $4.50 to $6.50 each. Installation is easy if you have a bit of electrical experience. The fixture itself is attractive.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Modern and Brite.. Great Combination [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The main reason I picked these specific recessed light is because they are LED ready. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars.....the LED light bulbs are not included. That added another $26-$30 to the overall cost. So...in the end, these are more expensive than the typical can lights, but they are nicer looking and they will use a small amount of energy while providing bright light. Installation is pretty straight forward. Cut the hole, connect two wires and a ground, insert bulb, insert assembly in the hole. Simple. Also, the bulb holders swivel....so you can direct the light in a particular direction in desired. I think these light are best when used in a smaller room or when accenting a specific part of the room or wall is desired.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Great for remodel [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had these installed in my basement, and they have made a huge difference! While I had lights in the basement, it always seemed to be too dark. These are rated for LED, and I absolutely love them! I installed them over the kitchen/living area, and my basement is now as bright as my upstairs is. Know this though, these are specifically for remodeling and must be installed in drywall. They are not for areas that haven't been drywalled. The bulbs are not included and while expensive, LED lights last forever. As they are on a gimbal, you can direct the light to the areas of the room you choose.

They are well made and priced low enough that they can be used in clusters to produce a total unique lighting effect. They need to be used in groups of 2 or 3 lights to flood an area, if you are using them for area lighting . The effect is amazing. The bulb is on a clip that pivots along one plane. The round trim allows for much more rotation as compared to the square trim version. It definitely should provide enough flexibility that you will be able to get the desired effect under most any set of conditions The LED bulbs are relatively inexpensive and should last indefinitely. The fixture is well made and is designed with clips that eliminate the need for any kind of mounting bracket. The light is a real bargain if you are looking for a designer light solution.

I have used in kitchens, tiny houses, hotel remodels, and many other projects. buying on line in bulk is now my best way to use. They are great for down lights and task lighting. they put out a lot of light with the proper LED bulbs.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Excellent buy! Before I ordered the kits, I was worried about the listed height of 9.65” (9.65 x 15.94 x 4) on the Home Depot website. From another website, the dimensions of the same product are listed as 5.1 x 9.9 x 5 inches. I ordered the kits with the understanding that I can always return the items back to any Home Depot store (one is only 3 blocks from my apartment) if it doesn’t work. Well, the height is less than 6”. I had to cut 4 extra holes due to metal bars or other objects right above these holes. The installation and the wiring were relatively easy once the holes were cut. I have only one concern that the wires used by the manufacturer are not made of copper. Since I’ve planned to use only LED lights, the current used and the heat generated will be reasonable. In addition, these are line-voltage lights and with no transformer. I expect them to last for a long time.

Just installed 18 of these fixtures with half in 1/2 dw and the other half in 5/8 dw I had one condition that had two layers of 1/2. I had to slightly bend the spring clips on the trim to get it stay in the ceiling. It did work but I would not exceed 1 inch of thickness.

Yes the GU10 LED bulb will fit as long as it has the MR16 shaped base. When you buy the bulb the MR16 equivalent is identified on the package

That is difficult to answer because it is a matter of what you use the area for and the physical characteristics of the space. But a good rule to consider initially is to leave about 4 feet off the wall and 7 to 8 feet between lights. There are a lot of variables to consider such as the reflective characteristics of the wall and floor, the room dimensions, the shape of the area, traffic patterns, etc. So when you do the math, It is better ot error on the bright side. Dimmers can overcome too bright. It is a lot more difficult to correct for too little light.
