Rated 5 de 5 de par Exceptionally strong strap [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Truly, I was not prepared for how heavy-duty this product turned out to be. When you see something like this online and it says "2-inch strap", you automatically think of the blue nylon strap on the typical, slip-buckle tie-downs you see everywhere. This is nothing like that. This strap is about 1/4" thick, and 27 feet of it weighs a LOT. I was able to pull my car up my driveway with the ratchet on this strap, so I do not doubt it can hold 10,000 pounds in place on a trailer.

Rated 5 de 5 de par About The Best Tie-down [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Most often the J hook tie-down is the way to go. This Husky tool is best for heavy appliances and to strap down lumber in your trailer. With its 1-1/2 tons of working strength for the 2 in. poly strap and ratchet mechanism that is made to take all the abuse possible, you need this one. The feature I really appreciate for my old hands is the rubberized handle grip and release mechanism. I have a couple more of these Husky's on my wish list too.

For years I have used these kinds of straps that were only an inch and a half wide, and they always felt weak, but these things are just a step below what the truckers use for tying down loads. Just a note, I used them to connect to each other using the hooks. If you do this, you might find that the hooks are hard to get back apart. Its like a puzzle. Hard to explain, but it literally took me 20 minutes to get the hooks apart a couple of times. That is no reflection on the quality and easy to use straps that these things are. I was in the store a week later looking at other stuff, and I was telling another customer about these things and showed him the picture and he grabbed two sets, and said thanks.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Only two ratchet tie downs Only two ratchet tie downs were used to hold down a top heavy machine that went on a truck, train, and boat ride to South America. Fortunately the tie downs held in place. Here is a picture of the arrival of the machine with the tie downs.

Heavy Duty Ratchet Tie-Down with J Hooks. Wider strap then the typical tie-downs. The J hooks are very sturdy, 7/16 in dia., coated for corrosion protection. The J hooks are on both ends. The instructions are on the small storage case and use a very small font. Could include some type of heavy rubber band to make it easier to wind and store the strap. Took a while to figure out how to snake the strap through the ratchet mechanism. Tie-down is well priced for what you get.

Just bought 2 of these to be used in addition to some old straps (just like these) for securing my first car, a '75 Firebird. My husband only made 150 miles of an 1100 mile trip before one broke in half. All I can say is that I'm DONE with products made in CHINA!

Is there metal running through the plastic handle? I'm worried about the plastic breaking over time

Posée par: Antonio
Yes, the handle is metal with a plastic grip over it. Nice ratchet straps. I have bought twenty or more and I am satisfied with all of them.

Are these straps DOT Compliance?

Posée par: Isam
That is a great question and I don't know. But here is the DOT recommendations: Tie-Down Strength The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration requires that tie-downs be of sufficient strength to secure cargo. When using indirect tie-downs, or tie-downs secured on both ends to the trailer, the tie-down's working load limit must be half of the total weight of your cargo. When using direct tie-downs, which secure the cargo to the trailer, the strap's working load limit must be equal to the load you carry. Tie-Down Specifications All tie-downs must be free from knots, repaired in DOT-approved manner for the type of tie-down and protected from rubbing or abrasion through the use of edge protection. Each tie-down must be secured in a method that keeps it from coming undone or loosening while in transit. Tie-downs must be adjustable so drivers can tighten them if items settle in transit. Tie-downs can be made of steel, chain, webbing, wire rope or cord. Minimum Number of Tie-Downs The size and weight of your cargo determines how many tie-downs it requires. If your cargo is less than 5 feet long and weighs less than 1,100 pounds, one tie-down is adequate. You must use two tie-downs if you transport an item less than 5 feet long that weighs more than 1,100 pounds or on any item between the length of 5 and 10 feet, regardless of weight. For each additional 10 feet in cargo length, you must use one more tie-down. Thus, a 12-foot load requires three tie-downs and a 22-foot load needs four. Over-sized loads can overhang a vehicle by three feet to the front, four inches to the side and four feet to the rear. However, some states, including California, have different laws, so be sure to check before moving a large load. Flags and lights must be properly used to mark over sized loads. For the safety of other drivers, as well as the load you are hauling, there are various laws in place concerning how far items can overhang the rear end of a truck. In many cases, loads that do overhang must be marked to alert other drivers. Failure to do so can result in a traffic ticket or fine.

I overtightened my strap and it will not budge. How do I reverse this mishap?
Posée par: SA123
if you disengage the locking mechanism on the handle that moves, you can adjust it's position so it can tighten the strap further. rotate that handle to tighten the strap just a hair. this will remove the pressure from the other locking mechanism. you can then unlock the locking mechanism on the fixed handle. the load will be held by your hand on the moving handle so be careful. allow the moving handle to rotate one tooth on the locking gear. repeat procedure until tension is reduced.

I'm sure the question that was meant was- Can you secure a car on a trailer with these straps and haul it?
Posée par: Oldman
would not recommend they probably could but do not believe it is the proper securing tool for that. I use them for securing loads in truck bed and on hauling trailer.

What is the Work Load Limit / or Breaking Strength for this item?
Posée par: FNL0116
This Husky has a work load rate of 3333 lbs. for sure safe range. The break strength would be 10,000 lb. But, should not be approached because that would be unwise and unsafe.
