Rated 4 de 5 de par Works as Advertised Bought this yesterday to replace a 40+ year unit that finally died, it is used for turning power to a pump for the swimming pool. It was the same size as the old, this version is a lot easier to mount as you can easily out pull the timing controller to mount the box. The model number even matches the old one! That was convenient. I got it installed with no problems, hopefully this lasts just as long. Everything seems the same as the original.

I purchased this timer as a replacement for an existing Intermatic pool pump timer. It took a few hours to install because the timer wiring also routs to a GFCI for the pool light. After the installation, I verified all the wiring hook ups and turned on the power. To my surprise the timer did not work. After more extensive trouble shooting, I found that the timer clock motor was defective. As a result, I had to remove the timer, take it to the place I purchased it and exchange it for another one. Lucky, the replacement timer did work after it was installed. I do not know if Intermatics tests the clock motor before it is assembled to the timer. If it isn't they should.

The timer worked great of a few days. April 3, 2020 I noticed my pool pump didn't automatically turn on at the scheduled time. The timer part of the device stopped working at 1am. I manually moved the timer to 10am(current time) and manually flipped the switch to on. This turned on my pool pump. I checked it 1 hour later and the timer was still at 10am. The timer has quit working!!!???? Broke already!!??

Rated 5 de 5 de par Just like the old one It was the same as the old one I had. Just pull out the old one and put in the new one. There is no reason why they couldn't have the clock module replaceable in this unit, like some of the others. But if it lasts for 20+ years, it will be well worth it. It only took me about 1/2 hour to switch everything out, even with fiddling with the mounting holes !

Easy to install. Only had this one for a couple of months, but I've owned another one for 3 years with no issues. The two things I wish it had: an easy always off or on switch. As it is, I have to remove the small clips on the timer. The other is more space for the connections. Working with 12 gauge wire and wire nuts, the covered space is a little cramped. But overall this is the best buy for a continuous timer for the higher current loads.

I installed one outdoors in Florida and it started rusting within 2 months and after 1 1/2 years it was covered in rust and the door latch broke off due to rust. For outdoor applications buy the T101P with the plastic cabinet.

This timer was a replacement for a 35 year old unit that had 1 set of contacts fused together. The shell cover was not replaced just the mechanical portion of the timer, since the gears had worn out on the old one. It was a direct fit, except for the protection cover for the electrical terminals, which was longer protection over the wiring. This is a reliable timer-- 35 years running!! And since it was direct fit the conduit connections did not have to be removed for the install, which took about 6 minutes to disconnect and reconnect, set time and trippers for run time. I have always had good results from any of the products made by INTERMATIC CORP. and recommend them for projects when appropriate.

Rated 5 de 5 de par The Gold Standard for Timers This time switch was purchased for use with pool equipment and replaced an earlier model with a plastic case. The new weatherproof enclosure is vastly superior to the older model which eventually suffered from weather exposure, became brittle and broke. This is a great example of product improvement. They left what worked well alone and only changed what needed to be improved.

Does it have to be installed by an electricisn or i just have to connect to connect the timer in the 220 outlet ?

Posée par: Bert
You have to have the basic knowledge of house hold electricity and a few tools. screw driver, drill motor, drill bits, pliers. electrical meter should be used to verify power is secure before touching existing circuit. also a few electrical more electrical connectors may be needed, depending on your installation location next o the 220v box. A electrician can do this work under a hour if all the components are on his truck.

My clock will no longer turn

The Manual switch works but the clock dial will not turn?
Posée par: Mike
There are two possibilities that come to mind. First a piece of sand or grit may have gotten into the gear system. Try this, gently pull out on the yellow time indicator wheel and turn then push it back in slowly. If that worked it will take 30 minutes to an hour to see if the wheel has moved. Second take a screwdriver and hold it against the metal plate, now take the insulated handle and touch it to your ear, if you can hear a faint motor sound than the motor is OK, if not the motor is most likely bad and will have to be replaced.

Posée par: DANIELA
As long as this timer is properly installed in accordance with National Electrical Code, by a competent licensed electrician, I cannot see why the device could not be used for a commercial property. .

can I use this for my water heater

Posée par: jack
Jack, there are some answers to the conditions of code and electrical regulations that need to be asked for this to be acceptable and safe. The timer has a rating of 40 amps. What is the rating of the water heater you are using? The heater may draw more than the timer contacts are rated for; 40 amps X 220 volts = 8800 watts. Is the rating in watts of the heater less than 8800 (40 amps) then the timer maybe used to control time functions. If it is greater, the load on the contacts may fuse, or weld one or, worse both together, and the heater will not stop heating. The power to the heater will not be disconnected even tho the timer is shown in the "off" position on the tripper lever, therefore that will not be safe. You might need to consider a higher rated timer or a "Contacter" type control device for the higher load.

Can't figure out which intermatic pool timer model I have. It's either the T104R or the T101R. Want to replace myself

Timer Motor is it but enclosure is all corroded so I wish to purchase enclosure with timer mechanism and replace whole thing myself. Are there any identifying marks that would help me figure out which one I have so I can purchase correct model for replacement
Posée par: Rh
RH, TURN OFF THE POWER-- BE SURE THAT IT IS OFF!! Remove the timer mechanism(possible retainer screw or pressure clip hold it in) look at the back side. If there are 2 sets of contacts(4 metal strips with contact points) it is a 220 volt unit-T104R- if only 1 set of contacts it is a 110 volt -T101R unit. Replace with the same configuration for wiring safety and be sure that there is a safety ground wire connected to the case or timer mechanism. When reconnecting remove and reconnect only 1 wire at a time to keep the circuit sequence correct-- Hot leg to load and hot leg to load (220) or hot leg to load and neutral to neutral(110). Be sure to get a weather resistant style can the timer fits in as it will reduce the water intrusion condition. Hope this helps.

Does this have a manual on/ off switch on it also? I want to use it on a pool pump but I also need to shut it off manually when back washing pool without having to go to basment to throw breaker. if this does not do you have a suggestion on an out door rated 220 volt timer with shut off switch on it?
Posée par: Mike
It has a trip lever which will allow you to manually turn the current flow on and off. Doing that does not screw up your timer clock settings by the way.

Will the timer maintain a proper on/off schedule if the 220v supply side is intermittent?
Posée par: Wilf
The timer is an electro-mechanical switch and needs a constant power supply to maintain correct time.
