Rated 1 de 5 de par Not a slow release fertilizer when it rains. I followed the instructions closely regarding amount to use and placement. When it rained the entire spike dissolved and my tree got over fertilized and lost a lot of needles. This is not a slow release fertilizer as the package implies. I won't use it again.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Practical and easy to apply These spikes provide nutrients for evergreen trees and shrubs, including holly, magnolia, hemlock, fir, spruce and many others. They are best applied in early spring or late fall. They release the nutrients over the growing season. The spikes are driven into the ground at the tree’s dripline with a hammer, and there are directions on the package for how many spikes to use for each inch of the tree trunk’s diameter — up to two inches diameter gets two spikes, and five inches diameter gets five spikes evenly spaced apart at the dripline, along with how to hammer the spikes in. There are nine spikes in the package. A plastic cap keeps your hammer from smashing the spike. I found that the spikes held together as I hammered them into fairly soft and damp ground. The spikes package is plastic so that the spikes do not absorb moisture and get soft. When the spikes are properly applied, they provide nutrients for the season, and will not dissolve and run off with groundwater to damage nearby streams. These spikes are practical and easy to apply. Rated 4 de 5 de par Simple one-time treatment Jobe's has been making these fertilizer spikes for years and I have used them before. I like the fact that the slow release fertilizer is put below the ground and feeds the roots all through the growing season. I don't have to mix up fertilizer every few weeks and apply. They are simple to use, just take a hammer and pound them into the ground around the perimeter of the branch ends. I found it best to water before so the ground is softer. The ends of the spikes won't hold up to trying to put them in dry ground (I know this from experience - lol) [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 de 5 de par Easy to Use The tree stakes are easy to use and provide year long food to the tree with constantly having to fertilize. With the spikes driven into the ground the nutrients go into the roots rather than being washed away like a fertilizer you spread on the ground. I used a rubber mallet to protect the spikes rather than a traditional metal hammer which worked well. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 de 5 de par tree food I have a little tree that seems to be struggling in growth. these spikes are about the size of my hand and are solid food. my ground is kinda hard so I was unable to successfully drive this things all the way in the ground before they broke. I was able to dig around the spike and burry the rest. my small tree was able to have 3 spikes dug around it with plenty of space. for large trees you may use the entire package of 9. however my larger trees are doing ok, so I don't need it for them. these spikes are solid and look to be made from a hard chalk. huge in size. they will break if you hit them too hard trying to drive them in the ground. just dig a hole and bury it. no biggie. instead of sprinkling food around the tree on the top this is a great way to get the food close to the roots. I like it [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
