Rated 2 de 5 de par Flimsy and cheap This product has a problem keep in constant temperature even with a lid on your water bath. It is billed really flimsy and cheap, the bottom Falls off constantly. I understand it should come off for cleaning, but loose leaf falls off every time I submerge it in the water bath I would not suggest this product I would go for another one at the same price. Not to mention Home Depot store online is completely different from your local Home Depot they do not communicate so if you're looking to return an item that you got online you're going to find that you have multiple problems. What I do it again? Absolutely not

I got this for my wife who is the cook in the family - on any given Sunday she has a slow-cooker, crock-pot and two ovens going. Now she has one more way to cook. I on the other hand am not a great cook but love tender, juicy meats of all kinds so I decided to give this a try on my own. I absolutely love it - if you have the patience, this is a great way to make boneless chicken breast that is juicy and healthy. And its easy to do - no greasy pans or burned in trays to clean!

Rated 5 de 5 de par [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This sous vide immersion cooker is a great way to get started if you are interested in healthier cooking.Their are many immersion cookers on the market and they can get expensive.This one is affordable and easy to use.It is made from stainless steel and thermoplastic. It heats well and does a good job at water circulation.The timer is accurate and beeps when done.The temperature reads a little high against an instant read thermometer,about 2 degrees.Now that I know this i adjust the temperature accordingly.Everything came out perfectly cooked the way I like it.If you want to try sous vide then this would be a great way to start your cooking adventure.

I have now cooked 11 dishes with this immersion cooker and am even more impressed than originally. I changed to a pot that is 10 inches high and holds 12 quarts. I think that is close to a minimum size for good results. This unit has no difficulty heating and holding correct temperature with that amount of originally hot kitchen sink water. The meats cooked are both tenderized and juicy. What really is amazing is that additional cooking time, over the recipe suggestions, is really not that important. I just cooked a hanger steak, (whose recommended cooking time was 2 to 3 hours,) for 5 hours and it came out medium rare, tender, and delicious. A large diversity of recipes are available both free on line or in traditional cookbooks. There is a learning curve to using this appliance but I am finding the time spent well worth it. Recipes

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] my wife and I share cooking in our home. She won't allow me to comment until I have cooked 3 meals with anything new. I have now cooked steak, fish and chicken with my new Kalorik sous vide cooker and am very impressed. You need a cook pot at LEAST 6" high. (need depth for machine and room to put food bags inside. Larger slightly better because you can cut larger items in half and put 2 bags in pot. Takes a few minutes to figure out temperature/time settings but found both to be accurate and once familiar with them, easy to set. Temperature is very important, time not so much in that you have large time window for same results (really!) Meat comes out very juicy,(more so than grill or pan) . I did sear steaks in stovetop pan just because but did not have to. The base removes quite easily for cleaning and is very snug when replaced. Handle makes it quite easy to place/remove from pot. I have not had any repair/warrenty issues with this machine but did purchase a different item from Kalorik and their customer service was TERRIFIC. Highly recommend sous vide cooking and this particular company's produce

Great product for anyone that is involved in cooking and wants to jump on the band wagon with the latest trend!! This sous vide cooker works fantastic with many of the different size stock pots that I already own. With a lot of new kitchen gadgets, they take up so much space, which can discourage someone from wanting to buy them. This fits in the drawer and is used with pots that you already probably own. As far as the cooking technique, there are countless resources online that offer insight into one of the hottest trends in cooking. So far, this item does a great job with meat and vegetables. I can’t wait to try making perfect soft boiled eggs!! This is very cool and I strongly recommend buying one!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This steel immersion cooker is a new way of cooking and more healthy without the oil and fats. Very quiet motor, could barely hear it run. Very easy to use (although it took me a few minutes to figure out how to program it). I started out with hot water in kettle, clipped on the immersion cooker and within 4 minutes it was up to temperature. Added the steaks that were seasoned in Ziploc bag, it took 1 hour 30 minute and the steaks were done perfectly. Then I put them on a cast iron grill plate to give them grill marks. I also did some cauliflower, which was fantastic. It does take plenty of time to cook with this, but well worth the wait. Overall it is a very good product, just takes more time to cook and you dont have to watch it closely.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is an interesting way to cook. First, be sure you have a good pot which is at least 6" tall and I recommend it be heavy to prevent tip-over. The instructions say 4" but it doesn't connect securely on a 4" pot as the cooker is quite heavy. You also need to place it on a heat proof surface. I placed mine on the stove grates. My one real complaint is that the bag has a tendency to be pulled into the bottom of the cooker and prevents the water from swirling. I clipped my bag to the opposite end of the pan to prevent this. The instruction booklet is well written for the setup but I find it confusing for the temperature settings. For example, poultry should be cooked to 165 degrees, but the settings say to set the cooking temperature to 140 for white meat...So far I have just tried chicken with it, but raised the temperature to 165. The meat cooked nicely, but does need "finished" if you like a crispy or browned exterior. The marinade I used permeated the meat well even though I just put it in the bag with the meat and didn't pre-marinate it. I was disappointed as there are only 2 recipes in the book, one for chicken and one for steak. You can use food grade freezer bags or vacuum-sealed bags. I have only used Ziplock freezer bags and they worked well. I look forward to experimenting with the cooker!

What is the largest container I can use this with?

Well, you can use any size container, the minimum depth is four inches, the water level has to either meet or exceed the minimum line and is below the maximum line. More water works for longer cooking times. It will of course take longer to heat up a really large pot.
