Rated 5 de 5 de par Full fire and smoke protection in one unit Great product, works in chained setups (basement fire makes all alarms in the house to ring; stop one and all stop; typical setup in a builder installation). I replaced the builder version myself following the detailed instructions. Easy to do, no special tools required. Delivery for online purchase was fast and packaging perfect.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Ease of installation I bought the same units as I already had in the house. They have a 7 year lifespan and require replacement. Buying these units negated the need to replace other hardware - I just plugged them in and was done.

Where is the model number on this alarm. I cannot see it on the central area, where it is on the ceiling.

Posée par: supe
On the web site, the model is Pi2000CA. If you are talking about one already installed in your home, you need to unhook it from the mounting bracket and wiring harness. The model number is located on the back of the alarm.

I have a gas range and every time a cook anything even with the exhaust fan running the alarm goes off. Is there one designed for the kitchen area that's less sensitive??

Posée par: KimSfustrated
Ionization alarms are known to false alarm (which is why they have the Hush feature now). You need to install a photoelectric alarm, preferably at least 20 feet (6 metres) from the kitchen.

Can these be interconnected? And all be initiating?

Posée par: SarM
Yes, these alarms, like all Kidde hardwired alarms, will interconnect. Each is an individual system capable of communicating with the others through the 3rd (red) wire of the harness. Note: they are not compatible with non Kidde brand alarms or devices.

Does Home Depot sell a dual sensing smoke detector (ionization and photoelectric) with a ten year battery? Would this detector fit in where a Firex model G-6 has been? Would your Kidde Pi2010ca model fit where a Firex G-6 has been?

Posée par: teee
Unfortunately, no alarm will use the same wiring as your old FireX as they were a separate company. FireX models are no longer available in Canada. All of our hardwired alarms come with the required bracket and wiring harness. We do not have a dual sensor hardwired alarm with 10 year battery - just model Pi2000CA. If there are more alarms on the network from FireX, consider changing all of them as they do have a 10 year lifespan and they were not designed back then to work with other brand like Kidde.

beeps and then says low battery

how do i stop this
Posée par: Anonyme
Disconnect the unit. remove the old battery (which should be changed annually). press and hold the test button for 10 seconds. put in a fresh battery - name brand only, not dollar store type. press the test button to make sure it works. reconnect to hardwire and press the test button again. Any further issues, call hotline at 1-800-880-6788.

can you use the same hardwire connector to thr fire alarm unit if the conector is compatible

Posée par: Anonyme
As long as the alarms are all from the same manufacturer, yes you can use the same wiring harness. They are designed specifically for that purpose.

what compatible replacement can i use for model i12020ca

my old one has an intermittent chirping sound.

Several things could be causing your alarm to alarm briefly or "chirp" randomly without a regular pattern. Check for the following conditions: 1. The smoke alarm sensing chamber may be dirty. Dust and insects can collect in the sensing chamber of the alarm. An accumulation of dust in the sensing chamber can cause the unit to chirp. It is good practice to clean the smoke alarm weekly or monthly when you test it. Static electricity from the AC quick connector attracts dust and can cause false alarms. Cleaning alarms: To clean your alarm, remove it from the mounting bracket. You can clean the interior of your alarm (sensing chamber) by using compressed air or a vacuum cleaner hose and blowing or vacuuming through the openings around the perimeter of the alarm. The outside of the alarm can be wiped with a damp cloth. After cleaning, reinstall your alarm, verify the green LED is on and test your alarm by using the Test Button. If cleaning does not restore the alarm to normal operation, the alarm should be replaced. 2. Check environmental conditions: ? Humidity, steam and condensation can cause false alarms. Causes of condensation are: ? Extreme or rapid temperatures changes (as little as 3 degrees Celsius in minutes). ? High ambient humidity. ? Unit being installed in an un-insulated electrical box mounted on a ceiling beneath an attic. If this condition exists you'll want to move the alarm. ? Check to see if there is a cooling/heating register, a ceiling fan or an open window within 3 feet of the alarm. If there is, move the alarm away from the source of the increased airflow. ? Check the temperature of the room. Smoke alarms operate at 40 degrees to 95 degrees Fahrenheit. ? Don’t program your thermostat to drop the temperature overnight for a few nights as the rapid drop in temperature can have it chirp and the rise in the morning can set off the alarm as if there is a fire. You can test this by moving the alarm to a different location (provided you have other hardwired alarms). If the unit itself chirps somewhere else, there could be an issue with the unit itself. If the replacement at that location now chirps, then the environmental conditions are the cause. 3. Reset the alarm. Some current model smoke alarms have a processor that retains certain error conditions, such as a weak battery. The error condition should reset when the battery is replaced but sometimes it does not and must be manually reset to clear the error. To reset an AC unit: Turn off the power to the smoke alarm at the circuit breaker. Remove the smoke alarm from the mounting bracket and disconnect the power. Press and hold the test button for at least 15 seconds. The unit may chirp or alarm for a few seconds before going silent. Reconnect the power. The unit will chirp when the power is restored and should not chirp afterwards. (unless the test or hush buttons are pressed) 4. An electrical condition may be causing the power to the unit to be interrupted. If the AC power to the unit is interrupted, the unit will chirp when the power is restored. This could be caused by power surges. If the chirping seems to occur at about the same time in the evening or morning, it could be due to a surge created when the power company switches electrical grids to meet demand. Check to see if the chirp (or chirping) occurs when something else in the house is turned on such as an exhaust or attic fan, a heater, etc. If the smoke alarm is connected to a circuit with such a device, the alarm may chirp when the other device is switched on. If this is the case and the device is plugged into a wall outlet, move it to another outlet on a different circuit. If it is a hardwired device, have an electrician investigate it. These conditions can be minimized by installing your alarms on a dedicated circuit in compliance with NFPA requirements. 5. If none of the above resolves the issue, please contact Kidde tech support at 1-800-880-6788. If it falls within warranty(usually 5 years), they can get you a replacement alarm directly. As for replacement, any Kidde hardwired alarm is capable of replacing. They are all compatible. Consider a unit with battery back up so it will still work during power failures.
