Do these hard wired smoke alarms have to be replaced every 10 years? I have hardwired smoke alarms by Dicon and it doesn't say they have to be replaced every 10 years.

Posée par: William
From all the lirature I have read, most manufacturers recommend that you replace them after 10 years, that goes for battery operated ones as well In fact on the (3) Kidde hard wired models I have, there are labels on the side with the year that they should be replaced - 2029 in my case. They probably wouldn't completely stop working after 10 years but functioning at optimal levels might be seriously compromised.

I purchased the Model i12020ACA/P1235CA direct wire model without battery back-up. They had 3 pieces of tape stuck to the back of the alarm, covering holes. Were these for shipping? I hope so, because I removed them. Is this OK or should I replace them?

Posée par: Jobart
The tape is a helpful tool when setting up/mounting the bracket and nothing more. It does not need to be there for the alarm to function.

What's the maximum current draw on this model? And also, what's the average current draw on other Kidde smoke & CO alarm powered by hardwired?

Posée par: titeo1106
Maximum 45 mA at 60Hz.

Will this work as a replacement for model i12020CA ?

Posée par: VCinTO
All of our hardwired alarms use the same wiring harness and are compatible with one another. So YES. though in this case, it is the same alarm.

Do you have to buy batteries for this alarm?

Posée par: Bailee75
This model of alarm does not have a battery back-up. As such, during power failures, you will not have working alarms.

Hi, can this (P1235CA) interconnect with Kidde model KN-COSM-IBCA (smoke/co detector)? It has expired and I'm looking for a replacement. Thanks.

Posée par: david2016
All Kidde hardwired alarms are compatible with one another. We do however recommend getting an alarm with battery back-up instead of the P1235CA so that you would have a working alarm during power failures. The P1275CA is the same as the P1235CA but with a battery.

How do I get it to quit the periodic chirping after I have put in a new battery?

Posée par: Anonyme
The first step is to ensure the unit has no battery in it and if hardwired, is disconnected. Then press the test button for 10 seconds to ensure all on board capacitors are emptied. insert the fresh battery and make sure it is working by pressing the test button. If hardwired, then reconnect the unit and press the test button again. If at any time the Hush button is pressed, the unit will go into standby mode and chirp for 10 minutes - this is very easy to do accidentally while inserting the battery. You have to leave it alone at that point for that time period.

We are looking for a replacement for G6 Firex and hoping to use the same already installed base and wiring harness. Will this one work?.

Posée par: Anonyme
The P1235CA is similar to the FireX G-6. They are both ionization smoke alarms that lack a back-up battery so that during power failures, you do not have a working smoke alarm (contrary to some provincial laws). Model P1276CA has a front load battery so that you don't have to disconnect the unit from the ceiling to change the battery (recommened to be once per year at minimum). Because FireX was a competing brand, the wiring harness was different than Kidde's. As well, althought they can work together at times, they have not been made to do so and it is recommended that all alarms and auxiliary devices be switched to a single brand to make sure they do work together properly. All of our hardwired alarms come with a wiring harness to install it. If you are uncomfortable with doing it yourself (it is very similar to a light fixture but the red wired IS NOT a ground wire - only a communication wire), then please consider hiring a professional electrician.
