Rated 1 de 5 de par Piece of junk I have numerous of these smoke detectors in my house. One night while I was sleeping alone in the house the alarm went off only to discover there was nothing in the house that set it off (no smoke, fire, etc, etc). Another time while just sitting on the couch they went off and again I found nothing that set it off. It also goes off far too much when I am cooking and forget to turn on the hood fan, but its not like I am burning anything. They are way too sensitive Unfortunately I am stuck with 9 of these smoke detectors. I call them the "boy who cries wolf smoke detectors", because the first thing that I think of when they go off its another false alarm. Just want you want in a smoke detector!

Rated 5 de 5 de par Best Kidde smoke alarm you can get! I am an owner of 2 of this Kidde smoke alarms, so far I am pretty happy with the 2 alarms that I have installed in my home. My favorite feature about this alarm is the interconnection, when my upstairs or downstairs alarm goes off, they both sound the alarm, but which is sounding? When you look at the alarms, the one sounding is the one flashing the red light. When you are sleeping at night, gotta tell you that you cannot miss the alarm because of its volume, and the best feature is cooking, when you are cooking, you feel more confident because this alarm is not a cooking alarm.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Now we're talking! This is what you call a smoke alarm! I had an ionization technology smoke detector in my home for 10 years, and it literally ruined our lives every time we turned on our stove. Since we had this guy, our lives was peaceful, calm and relaxed!

Rated 5 de 5 de par Excellent replacement for older smoke alarms Purchased 2 units online as replacements for existing aged smoke alarms. Old units removed and new ones installed in less than 20 minutes, no more nuisance alarms due to opening the oven door. Old units did not have battery backup so I'm pleased to have this new feature as hydro intermittently goes out in this area. Pleased with units so far, home delivery was fast!

Rated 5 de 5 de par Quality products I bought two of these alarms online. The instruction is easy to follow and installation is just as easy. No need to worry about batteries in next few years. BTW, the delivery is FAST!

Rated 5 de 5 de par Easy to install Finally replaced an old smoke detector that kept going off. It was 12 years old. The new one was easy to install. I can finally have proper toast instead of warm bread as the alarm does not go off.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Great Smoke Alarm! Bought this one after a recommendation to install a photoelectric smoke alarm just outside our kitchen. The ionization type was giving many false alarms and nuisance alarms after 7-8 years every time we'd use the oven without even burning anything. Was simple to connect - just needed to plug it into the old base with the quick connect cable.

How would one know when the battery should be replaced? How long does it last, ordinarily.

Posée par: supe
Your alarm's battery should be changed yearly regardless if it warns of low battery or not. The idea is that you want your alarm to be capable of lasting for a couple of weeks on battery only and still be able to sound an alarm for 4 hours (This is a ULC requirement in Canada for an alarm to be certified). Leaving the battery to the last moment before changing it can compromise this capability.

Do you have a smoke detector that can be wired to my home security system

Posée par: Anonyme
No. Our alarms are not designed for central alarm systems. Each is a standalone unit with some capable of communicating to other units of the same brand. We do have a hardwired relay for smoke signals and one for carbon monoxide signals that can be "normally open or normally closed" for outside devices but if they are used to communicate with a central system, it is considered an unmonitored addition with the central panel not knowing if the units are even present, damage or false alarming, including chirps for low batteries. We do not recommend doing this.

Can this alarm replace my current KN-COSM-ICA Kidde brand one? My current one seems to be dying. Thanks

Posée par: Anonyme
The model you are looking for is 900-0119. This model (PPE120CA) is a photoelectric smoke alarm only. your old one is a combination ionization/carbon monoxide alarm. Although the wiring harness will work (we only have the one harness for all models).

which hardwire fire alarm is compatible with Firex G-6 ?

Posée par: Anonyme
FiIreX no longer exists in Canada and the wiring harness is not compatible with Kidde alarms. However,if you have FireXsmoke alarms that are less than 10 years old and add in a Kidde hardwired alarm (any hardwired model), they will likely work well together though they were not designed to work together originally. We recommend you upgrade to an alarm with battery back-up, unlike the G-6 because with the G-6, during power failures, you do not have a working alarm.

Is this alarm compatible with an American Sensor SA 360? I have 5 of the SA 360 Alarms in my home and need to change 3 of them to be compliant.

Posée par: Anonyme
You should not mix alarms from different companies. Although some have been shown to work together, they were never built to be compatible - which could lead to damage or interference to any and all alarms. You will need to get alarms either from the same company or replace all for a different one.

How do I stop the smoke detector from beeping?

I replaced my smoke detector because the old one kept beeping every few days and it would beep for 3 hours non-stop After one week, the new smoke detector started beeping at 5am and beeped non-stop for 6 hours. Please explain why this keeps happening? I am becoming sleep deprived and the constant beeping is annoying my dogs.
Posée par: Anonyme
Was your previous alarm from Kidde? if not, you are likely damaging your new alarm as different brands are not made to work together (in some instances they do manage but they are not made to). photoelectric alarms will alarm because something entered the detection chamber that is thick enough to refract/reflect the infrared light onto the captor so dust and insects can also affect it (hard to know if it is that since the alarm cannot be opened to look inside). As well, if another alarm or device on the network is going off and sending the alarm signal through the interconnect, this one will respond as a result. Have a look at the LED and if it flashes rapidly red, then it is the one responsible for sounding the alarms. Green means it is working fine and responsing to an outside source.
