When it was delivered to our house the Guys wouldn't drop inside our house when my husband asked so it was left on the porch. The cooktop is very nice looking and works well. My only complaint is the cook surfaces scratch easily and you have to use buffing compound to get the scratches to not be so obvious. So you can not move your pans around on the cooktop or you will scratch it. I am afraid this is the nature of all these type cooktops. It is the first one for me. I would still recommend it though - the knobs work well and the cooking use is good - heats up fast, downdraft fan works well.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Issues with product and KitchenAid I bought this unit in September and separately a KitchenAid oven/microwave combo for a kitchen remodel. Due to logistical issues, we weren't able to unbox & install the cooktop till this week. The glass was already cracked when it was unboxed and 2/4 blower motor bolts sheared off during installation. KitchenAid is insisting on making me pay for the glass since it is out of the 30 day "cosmetic" issue warranty. I asked for a replacement unit to be sent and they would not do it. Oven/microwave is great, but cooktop is not. I always thought KitchenAid was a notch above. Beware.

Rated 1 de 5 de par I’m baffled We just did a kitchen remodel and have purchased all new Kitchen Aid appliances. All is well besides this cook top. I have used it for a week now and there appears to be what looks to be BUBBLES under the glass. I boiled something else tonight and more bubbles! I’m scared to know what this thing will look like in a year. I have quality pots and pans and have looked up care instructions and I feel like I’ve done my part to keep this cook top looking nice so I am really disappointed.

Nice looking, heats wel, and downdraft works great. However, on SECOND use we used a stainless pot with copper bottom and on high heat/boil, it damaged the ceramic surface in three locations on one of the burners. Instructions and directions for use fail to mention not to use copper based pots/skillets with high heat settings. Do your research, we found a ratings comment noting this issue; not from Kitchenaid. Would be nice the manufacturer would have this information in their directions for use. For the price you pay, I would expect to be able to use copper but guess not. Go with old school electric coil stove top if you really want to cook with a variety of pots and pans. Hard to locate one with down draft option, though.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Not living up to expectations I was excited to replace my coil electric stove top with this sleek design. Three years later, I am not so happy--I have tried all the products and still I cannot keep the surface clean. I can have a frying pan on low with a olive oil and food will burn without actually cooking. Today peppers were brown, almost black but not soft and cooked. I was watching and stirring them the whole time. The heat seems uneven. The paint has chipped in a number of places on the vent and needs replacing. I used to love to cook, but this cook top has made cooking less enjoyable.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Replaced the old JennAir with the new KitchenAid 30 in.... Replaced the old JennAir with the new KitchenAid 30 in. Electric Downdraft Cooktop.Installation was easy, just follow the direction. Little struggle with vent connection but once again not rocket science. More importantly I was surprised that our JennAir after 12 years of use still didn't have much blemish on the surface while this KitchenAid with 2 weeks of use has some scratch marks. Newer technology, Hmm?The Good: The element heats up fast, the even heat feature does work well. Yes, newer technology did work here. Overall this is a good cooktop considering there are not a lot of choices for the downdraft version of cooktops out there.

Rated 4 de 5 de par AFIK, the only cooktop with built-in downdraft. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This replaced an old unit that had built-in downdraft exhaust. It saved me the effort and expense of modifications to accommodate alternatives. Installation by one person is not recommended, but I did it by taking my time and building jigs to hold things. I also hired an electrician to upgrade from 30amps to the 40 this required. An observation is that certain details of the installation manual are misleading or out-of-date, but pro's would never notice that. It looks nice, but I do worry about all of the ways the new surface can be damaged. Unfortunately, the rugged old style coil type cooktops don't seem to be available.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Classy and good features. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is first time use for glass cooktop. Much different than my old coil cooktop, but getting used to it. I do have a hard time keeping it spotless and clean. Trying to find the Affresh cleaner and scraper. Just did up-grade to kitchen; already had KA dw, added KA cooktop, KA single wall oven (which is still sitting in my dining room), new quartz counters, The kitchen is beautiful and love what we have so far, just need the oven installed but that's another story. Maybe an "ON" light a the burner that is actually ON would help remind which burner is hot.

Hi Np, this is made with a stainless product. As long as it is maintained properly you shouldn't have an issue with rust. We hope this helps!

How do these cooktops hold up to cast iron use?

Posée par: Rod01
Hello Rod01! You can use cast iron, however, we do recommend not to pull across the cooktop as it can scratch the top. We also recommend the bottom of the pan be straight. We hope this helps.

My electrical is 30 amps. The specifications state 40 amps are required. Will this work for me?

Posée par: NickE
Yes. Mine's been on a 30 amp circuit since I installed it 2 years ago, and works fine with no issues. Worst case scenario is if something shorted out, it would trip the circuit breaker sooner with a 30 amp breaker than with a 40 amp breaker.

Are the elements replaceable

Are the elements replaceable
Posée par: Hammerhead
Yes. There are You-Tube videos demonstrating how homeowners can do this. However, I would recommend that you rely on an experienced service contractor. With my cooktop the burners were never the problem. It was always the switches and relays, but they are equally replaceable.
