Rated 5 de 5 de par Heavy-Duty, High Quality [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Klein Heavy-Duty Wire Stripper is a high-quality, well-made tool of forged steel. The padded handle is comfortable to hold and gives you a good grip. It strips 10-18 AWG solid and 12-20 AWG stranded easily with no damage to wire. The wire gauge sizes are clearly engraved on the tool...the solid sizes on one side and stranded sizes on the other side. This is a great feature. It also shears 6-32 & 8-32 screws with little to no effort and the cuts are very clean. It is also nice that they are made in the USA! These wire strippers are high quality and made to last and perform perfectly for a very long time.

I bought what I thought was a decent wire cutter/stripper/twister tool online for about $18 and it was crap. This one is almost double that price but oh so worth it! Cuts clean, knurled ends for twisting worked very well (even on super stiff #12 wire). Only negative, is you really need two hands to cut #12/2 /w ground wire. Single wires it cuts easily one handed, but 3 strands needs two hands (or it could be I was just tired). Anyway. I really cannot say enough about these. They get the job done well and without frustration. Spend the few extra dollars, you'll be glad you did.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Super Sharp! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my 5th wire stripper and I'm not an electrician! I've just been able, thanks to Home Depot, been able to get the best wire strippers I've owned and I've owned some nice ones! I'm constantly wiring something around our tiny farm here in Arizona because the Summer heat is ferocious on wiring. I really love the handles and the extreme sharpness this tool provides. It is easy to use and not hard on the hands while using them. No doubt the best wire strippers I've had ... bar none!

Rated 5 de 5 de par Awesome Wire Stripper [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] They are truly heavy duty and different than typical cutters. I would call them hybrid pliers. A cross between side cutters and wire strippers. They are really good cutters. The cutters are sharp and will cut 12 awg romex like it’s butter. The strippers work well too and will strip up to a 10 awg solid easily. The make a nice clean cut that takes no effort. They will also cut #6 and #8 machine screws easily with one hand. Just thread the screw in to the length you want and cut. Removing the screw from the cutter cleans the threads so the screw works easily when threading. The ends of the pliers are like small side cutters and grip well letting you can bend or loop solid wire for attachment to wiring devices. Really nice pliers.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Cool tool [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used the Klein Tools Heavy Duty Wire Stripper to relocate an outlet and change some wiring last Saturday. I had to strip about 15 wires, and the Klein Stripper was invaluable. One side strips stranded wire; the other strips solid wire. The Klein Stripper feels sturdy. The engraving on each side is easy to read to you know exactly what type and what gauge of wire you're stripping. Moreover, the handles are curved so you know by touch when you switch between solid and stranded wire. You may see a slight mark on the wire, but the Klein Stripper cleanly strips insulation without damaging the wire. I stripped 12 and 14 gauge solid wire and much finer stranded wire with the Klein Stripper. It did not break or fray the fine strands of the smaller wire while removing all of the insulation. Pictures below show the wires.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Blunt nose is super I purchased this the first week out at my supplier. Wasn't sure about the bulky construction, but I found them to be my go to stripper for every application, I have a pair in my truck door that goes with me for everything from inspection to quickly check out something. I keep a 2nd pair in my service bag and a 3rd inside my construction bag. Handy for so many tasks, stripper stays sharp and the crimping is comfortable in your hands and the blunt nose is durable enough to take out as many square D knockouts you can find. Only downside is the thumb lock can be bothersome because it's very loosely fitted to the pivot arm.

I really like the solid, heavy feel of these wire strippers. One thing that I found that could definitely use some improvement are the handles. They should be more like the handles found on linesman pliers for better leverage. I wouldn't mind if they need to make them heavier to achieve that. The cutters could also be re-designed to cut at a lower angle (like 30 degrees). They angled the cutters very high, which is good for durability but makes it a bit harder to cut through wire. A slightly longer cutting section would be nice too.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Heavy Duty is the right term for these [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Unless you are an electrician or someone using these all day long everyday they should last a life time. Even if you are using them a lot there is a good chance they will last a lifetime too. These are not made from a stamped piece of sheet metal, these are made from a cast piece of steel, like pliers. They are beefy. The are a bit heavier than the sheet metal type, but no heavier than a pair of pliers. There is a nice lock to keep it closed. It does take two hands to work the lock mechanism. But it does stay in the position it is set at, no accidental popping open. There is also a spring assist to open the wire stripper. The grips of typical nice quality overmolded rubber material that Klein puts on their tools. The added bulk from being cast does make then a little harder to get in to tight spots and so does the plier tip on it. But the added bulk is a plus more often then not when compared to the stamped versions.

Does it have a wire loop hole?

Posée par: Jon
I removed the lock from the strippers and made the hole a little bigger with a metal drill bit, works perfect for bending wire loops.

Would someone please give me their input as to getting these strippers, or the bigger ones that strip up to 8 ga solid?

Posée par: Kyle
8 gauge solid is not a widely used option, if you do use it a lot a specific size stripper may be your best option
