Rated 4 de 5 de par Elegant, Functional Toilet — But Worth the Price? [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] A couple of months ago, we had a Kohler Highline Classic installed in our downstairs bathroom, and we were so pleased that we decided to replace the upstairs toilet with a Kohler, as well. This Stately 1-piece model, from the Memoirs line, is simple and elegant, with an amazing flushing action. (You can Google Kohler AquaPiston for videos that explain the technology and show it work. Take my word for it — it isn’t just marketing hype. We haven’t even seen a slow flush yet, let alone a clog.) I did the install myself. Not the simplest, but only because the toilet is a 1-piece and weighs around 100 lbs. My wife had to sweet-talk the delivery guy into bringing it up the steps so I only had to wrestle it inside, and holding it up while lining up the T-bolts didn’t do anything for my morning mood. Otherwise, very straightforward, and pulling out the old toilet, cleaning up the messy caulk job (an oscillating multitool is a huge help), tidying up around the flange, dropping in the new toilet, shimming it level, and hooking up the water all took less than two hours. Not a leak anywhere, and it filled and flushed perfectly on the first try (the guts came pre-installed). Some mostly minor concerns: * Packing seemed quite thin for an item of this size and weight; no damage, but others might not be so lucky * The description says a wax ring and mounting hardware are included. They weren’t. Not a big deal, but it meant another trip to Home Depot if I wanted to complete the install that day * The toilet seat — while comfortable and perfectly functional — is plastic and feels flimsy. A bit of a disappointment at this price point * The tank cover doesn’t sit quite flush and rocks a bit — again, kind of disappointing at this price point. Bottom line, this is an elegant toilet with a powerful, efficient flushing action. The 1-piece design offers easier cleaning and peace of mind with fewer potential leak points — but is it enough to justify the hefty price tag? Kohler has comparable 1-piece and 2-piece models that run 70-80% less. You’ll have to decide for yourself, but if the looks appeal and it fits your budget, this comes highly recommended.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great toilet, from both a design as well as a function perspective. It is very effective flushing away waste, yet is also extremely quiet, which is a desired feature high on my wish list. As with any of the Kohler products I received, the toilet was extremely well packaged, so there never was a question of possibly being damaged, the installation is only slightly more difficult because it is a one piece toilet, so it is a bit cumbersome to move, and it is very heavy. It is best to have two people on hand to move the toilet, For me, as a design conscious person, this toilet is a perfect complement in my new bathroom, which was supposed to have an understated elegance look, marrying old world elegance with the most advanced technology, and this toilet is the dot on the i for it. Extremely impressed with this product!

I've had a Memoirs by Kohler toilet before and I've always really liked the trim on the bowl and on the bottom part of the toilet. I think it gives a somewhat executive look to the toilet and makes the toilet look about as classy as a toilet can look. In terms of the flushing, it flushes what I throw at it so I have no complaints. What more do you really need from a toilet? It looks nicer than the average toilet so if that's something you're going for, I'd say this is a good option. Kohler makes good products and this one is no different. It doesn't come with a seat so the seating will be as comfortable as you're willing to make it with all the options out there. Installation was similar to the one other toilet I've installed myself so no complaints there. Highly recommended!

Some people say, it traps dirt more than a toilet that is without curves and design. Yes, maybe, but those are not nearly as stylish as this one. The Aqua-piston Flush technology is the best thing going right now. We changed out an old fashioned toilet with this one and the amount of water we will be saving is astronomical. The installation is very easy, especially if you've replaced one in the past. You'll want to get a new water hose for the wall to the tank. The tank refill is very quick and quiet, this is important because the bathroom is right next to our bedroom. The one piece technology makes for super easy clean up and the elongated seat is very comfy. I am so pleased with this selection and looking forward to many years of problem free operation. Love it!!!!

Rated 5 de 5 de par Memoris Stately 1-Piece Elongated [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my fourth Kohler toilet, and undoubtedly the best thus far. There are noticeable differences in toilets, and generally speaking the more you spend, the better you'll like it and less likely to have problems. However, every Kohler product I have owned, truly impresses me. This toilet has superb flushing technology. My other ones came with a 2" flush valve, this one comes with a 3" flush valve. It has a MaP Performance Rating of 1000. That is the highest rating there is. It also has a fully glazed 2-1/8" trap way. The Aqua Piston flush system is quite the technology over the traditional flapper style. Being one piece, is easier to clean and the aesthetically aspect is pleasing. I also like this toilet bolts to he floor in the conventional style. You do not need a template or special hold down with tray way. If you've ever used the other fastening methods, you know what I mean. This Stately is more compact than the 2 piece version I have. If you're trying to match a 2 piece in the way of height/depth etc, you'll want to compare the specifications of the two. The soft close lid is well, a lot more desirable than a conventional lid. No one needs to here a lid slamming in the middle of the night or any other time. This is a recommended product!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] What exactly makes this worth the almost $1,000 price tag? I can honestly say that I don't know.. You'd think that after replacing a standard $250 unit by the same manufacturer that it would be obvious, but so far....not so much. Don't get me wrong; the install was pretty standard and easy, just like any other, it uses a LOT less water that the last one, and is extremely effective at doing exactly what it's supposed to do on the first flush, and it's really quiet. And because the unit is a one-piece makes for a much cleaner looking (streamlined?) appearance. But I still don't know that the price can be justified. A few other items to note: this IS an elongated bowl, but the entire unit (tank & bowl assembly) may not have the same depth as the one you may be replacing, so initially it may appear to your eye as not being elongated. Also, the included soft-close seat is great in terms of noise, but the design is odd in that the actual seating surface is sloped inward towards the bowl. It's not something you'd necessarily notice until you're using the seat, and then it becomes apparent, especially if you're not necessarily blessed with a lot of....*ahem*, let's say "natural seating area". What this translates to is a slight inward- and downward-compression of your "natural seating area" that is not necessarily comfortable. So if price is taken out of the equation, I'd completely recommend the toilet based solely on appearance and performance; and it could be that after the next water bill, the reason for the cost may be completely obvious. Regardless of any of that, and despite its inclusion, I'd still consider purchasing a different seat for the unit.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Item arrived on a palette in perfect condition and on first glance I thought the wrong unit had been shipped due to the size of the box. I recently bought a different Kohler toilet and the box for the two piece was very close to, if not the same dimensions. This thing is compact! Packaging was very adequate which was a concern due to the price paid. Since HD doesn’t stock this unit at my local store, I was optimistic that I would not need to send it back due to a small chip or other faint defect. I’ve never had a one piece toilet before and it installed like a dream. It was very easy to position over the wax ring and the only other hook up was for the supply line. Usually I second guess myself when attaching the tank to the bowl (tightened it too much or not enough) and in the back of my mind I always think I may crack the porcelain due to too much pressure applied. My waste line (inherited from previous owner) is a couple more inches away from the wall than it should be and with a 2 piece, I was always concerned with the tank snapping the bowl when leaning back on the unit. Aside from lower gpf and compact size, this was the main reason I went with the one piece. I have a lot more confidence with this aspect as it’s a solid connection between tank and bowl which eliminates potential for rocking where the tank/bowl flange meet. Aesthetically it’s very pleasing – finish is very glossy and the curves are…stately, as the name implies. I live in a craftsman style house and this fits in very well but think it would work for many other styles. Actually it blends in more so then most other toilets I’ve had because of its compact size. Flush quality is great and the Aquapiston technology seems to do the trick with what I’ve thrown at it so far. Waiting for a family reunion or emergency situation to really test it’s mettle but so far so good. Flush is pretty quick as well in terms of the time it takes to complete a cycle ~ 3 seconds to flush the bowl and just over a minute to refill. Quite enough to be able to flush and little one stays asleep. Interesting in that it doesn’t seem to swirl like a normal toilet but again, it’s worked very well so far. Not sure if it’s a hidden feature or if intentional but it seems to have a dual flush built in, hold down for a second and the water clears up pretty well for liquids. Hold down for 2 -3 seconds and out goes the rest. Came with a toilet seat that has both a soft close and silicone pads as a bonus. Would recommend this toilet.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have tried five or six toilets in the past few years, primarily through the Seeds program. They always claim to be the best flushing toilet on the planet and all but one failed to live up to the hype in my eyes. My complaint with the toilet that I had before this one was that it would occasionally to fully clear. Standing there for 60 seconds or so, waiting for it to refill for a second flush was frustrating. This toilet flushes amazingly well! It has not failed to clear, or even come close to it a single time. What surprises me is how sneaky it flushes. It uses just 1.28 gallons, which is not a lot. It doesn’t make much noise or commotion … it’s like a trap door opens and it’s empty. This is easily the most impressive flush I’ve seen to date, excepting for power flush units. My negatives comments will focus on two aspects, price and comfort. This is crazy expensive, let’s be honest. My theory is that the one-piece construction drove the price up, but who knows? Comfort … this is NOT a comfortable toilet in my opinion. It’s narrow, and I don’t fit on it like pretty much every other toilet I’ve tried. If you spend a lot of quality time reading news in the bathroom you may find it disappointing. I plan to look for a replacement seat … maybe take my previous seat and see if it fits. I took one star off for value and comfort.

I believe that ours came with the hardware to connect the toilet seat to the bowl, but not to secure the bowl to the floor. That may have been an oversight, because the HD website says that the wax ring and mounting hardware is included.
