Rated 1 de 5 de par Not suitable for all clip on toilets I have a Kohler elongated toilet from Home Depot bought about 5 years ago. Recently it started to drain water so it was time to replace a flapper. I got this one and it seems that if it has slip on rubber enclosure to connect it to the pins it just doesn't hold the water. I got simple clip on (no rubber enclosure on the pins) Fluidmaster flapper and it did the job. I wonder if toilet needs some special clips to use this variety of flappers but none of my toilets seems to work with them. Those rubber enclosures would just slide sideways and make flapper sit loose and leak water through. Any suggestions? Thx!

Rated 5 de 5 de par Simple solution to a long time problem! A toilet in my brother-in-law's house has not worked correctly for as long as I can remember. You had to hold the handle down for the toilet to flush. When if overflowed once, he asked me to look at it. I quickly determined it was the flapper that wasn't floating when lifted. I went to Home Depot, bought a Korky, and replaced the bad one in about a minute. The toilet now works fine. (I should have done it long ago but the toilet was old, and odd, and I was afraid it might have been a complicated problem that I might not be able to fix without any tools. My tools were 100 miles away, where I live.)

Rated 5 de 5 de par Worked well, easy to install Worked fine for me, replacing the original hoov-r-line 30072-8. I wouldn't have known which flapper to buy if I hadn't first removed the original and taken it into the store for a quick comparison. Good clip mechanism, not just a hook, but a clasp. No leaks.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Leaked from day 1, get a Fluidmaster instead Replaced my flow valve and figured I'd replace the flapper at the same time but unfortunately it just didn't form a good seal. Leaked from day one. Tried cleaning the flapper and the flush valve several times but noticed a line forming along the rubber at the very top where water was leaking in. After a few days picked up a Fluidmaster flapper instead and it's been solid, no more leaks. Had picked up a 3 pack of the Korky but didn't bother installing the other two, hopefully I can return them or I'm out $22 for the pack. Spend the extra bucks and get a Fluidmaster instead, the design on this isn't exactly universal as advertised.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Worked For 2 Months I replaced a defective ball cock / fill valve. I thought it was a good idea to replace the 10 year old flapper at the same time. The flapper worked well for 2 months and then I could hear the toilet doing a partial refill every couple of hours. I reinstalled the old flapper that I had saved and it solved the refill problem. My old flapper valve is much thicker and heaver than the Korky flapper. Maybe that helps.

The flapper does not stay in place after flushing so, the water still seeps out, causing the tank to repeatedly replace wasted gallons of water weekly. It seems this product does not have enough weight to hold it firmly in place. My suggestion, choose a heavier flapper than this lightweight model,

Rated 3 de 5 de par Had to use Vaseline after installation Bought this to resolve leaking water (from tank to bowl) after installing new fill valve (the old flapper was in bad shape). Installed this Korky flapper but still had a water leak. Needed to apply Vaseline to this "new" flapper to get problem resolved. Yes, I did visually and manually check ring on which flapper sits for build-up or other impediments to good seal but there was nothing there, very smooth. Part of me wants to get a different brand that does not need Vaseline to seal properly but I will wait to do so and see how long the "Vaseline fix" works.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Better Performing Replaced rigid frame types which still led to leaks and also has the virtue of being resistant to chlorine tablets in tank which caused others to start to dissolve.

Flapper doesn't always fall straight down and form a complete seal? I purchased this flapper for a Crane 2-piece toilet, tank model #3544E. The old flapper it replaced was black in color but the same dimensions. When this flapper falls after the toilet flushes it usually falls straight down and forms a seal, however it occasionally falls to the side, and while the bulb on the bottom of the flapper falls completely in the tank hole the rim of the flapper is barely not quite wide enough to cover the tank hole so it leaks slowly causing the tank to top off the water level every so often. The chain from the handle lever to the flapper is attached so it's straight up and down and not pulling to one side, and the chain is nearly taut with just enough slack so it won't pull on the flapper at all unless the handle is pressed. I can't think of what to try to make sure the flapper falls straight every time. If it helps, the bulb on the flapper is about 1 3/4" wide and the tank hole is about 2 1/4" wide.

Hi, I posted this question and am responding to Korky's answer to contact their customer service team. When I called I got the impression I was speaking with a receptionist instead of a trained customer service person, which makes sense because there probably aren't enough people who call to justify a customer service team. I didn't feel they were as knowledgeable about flappers as I was, and this is only the third flapper I've replaced in my lifetime. They apologized for the trouble I was having, asked a few very basic troubleshooting questions that I'd already considered after googling the problem, and then offered to send me a new flapper. As I said I'm not an expert by any means, so I'm not clear how replacing a new flapper with the same model new flapper will make a difference. They then said I could send in pictures and a video of the flapper in action to have their engineers look at it, but as it's not a consistent problem I didn't want to spend time trying to get a video of it happening. I ended up purchasing a different brand from the same location and so far I haven't had any issues.

How do I measure for which size to get? Is it from the end-to-end diagonal or the "hump" in the middle?

Thanks for your interest in Korky. You discovered there are some differences in flush valve systems and that toilets sizes can vary. An easy reference is to look at the size of the flush valve drain opening in the bottom of the tank. If it’s about the size of an orange or baseball, you need a 2 inch flapper/flush valve. If it looks more like the size of a grapefruit or softball, you need a jumbo 3 inch flapper/flush valve. The vast majority of toilets on the market are 2 inch (orange/baseball size). The 3 inch toilets (grapefruit/softball size) are a newer phenomenon in recent years. If you have any additional questions or want help with your install, we are here and happy to help. Simply call, 1-800-528-3553 or email us at sales@lavelle.com. We are available Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM CST.

Turn off the water to the toilet. Remove the top of the tank, flush to remove water, look down to see how the old unit is mounted with the two rubber ears, remove old one install new one attach chain to handle, turn water back on and you are in business...Happy flushing.
