Rated 5 de 5 de par Leviton 120/240-Volt Surge Protection Panel I would highly recommend the Leviton 120/240 volt Surge Protection Panel. The induced charge mitigation ability of this product makes it ideal for residential and commercial installations. I have used Leviton Surge Protectors on 3-phase systems in Africa where the incoming power is very unstable and transient voltages are a constant threat. These units worked remarkedly well.

Rated 5 de 5 de par whole house protection is simpler My first surge protection panel I installed at home five years ago. Before it was installed, a nearby lightening strike destoyed many electronic devices. I have not had any electronic problems since. The lack of surges getting through is not proof that it works - but I sure know that it wasn't a mistake. Because of the confidence this has provided, this purchase has been installed at church with all of our sound and video and webcasting equipment. A big investment deserving of protection.

Only issue I had with this product is that there is not much room between the terminals and the side of the box. Once you get the wire tightened down you have to make a tighter bend then I'd like.

Does this device provide protection against lighting strikes on the home or near by?

Posée par: critterbytes
Let's be honest... If lightning can travel through miles of open air, this little box will have no chance to protect against a direct hit. What it can do is protect you against surges in the power grid caused by things like limbs falling on lines, ice on lines, windstorms, power pole accidents and lightning strikes near power lines. Direct hits are few and far between, but surges happen all the time. With more direct wired smart devices, a protector like this is a must.

When you install the surge protector can you install it with a breaker that is already in use or must it have its own dedicated breaker. Please give a rough ball park of how long they last, in a rural area. Yes I know it can vary. Does it work in sub panels for all devices or does it have to be in the main panel?
Posée par: Rick
Do *NOT* use a tandem breaker, as the previous poster suggested. Both circuits of a tandem breaker are connected to the same lug in the panel - so your surge protector is only connected to one pole (120V) in your panel. The other 120V pole is left unprotected. You need to use either two single breakers or a dual breaker. If you are out of space in your panel, then switch out a dual breaker for a quad, and connect the surge protector to the two outside connections on the quad. For example, if you have an existing 50A breaker, you can replace it with a 50/20 quad, with the ganged 50A circuit on the inside and the 20A independent breakers on the outside for the surge protector.

Can you hook it up to the main breaker in a house 200 amp panel

Posée par: Killa454
Hi , Thank you for choosing Leviton. NO, do not use main breaker. Select circuit breakers as close as possible to each service entrance lug. Twenty-Amp (20A) circuit breakers are recommended, and may share SPD device and branch circuit leads. The breakers provide additional failure protection as well as a SPD connection and servicing disconnect. NOTE: Do not connect SPD leads directly to service entrance lugs. This may result in fire, shock or death.

Does this work to protect a whole panel, i.e., whole home protection or just a single circuit.

If not whole home protection, where could I find such a device?
Posée par: Abc123
Yes, this is a whole-home surge protector. It will protect all equipment wired to the same panel.

Whole House Protection at 50A Max?

This device will provide protection up to 50A? So is it safe to assume that this device will not work on a residential panel rated at 150A or any service panel greater than 50A?
Posée par: JohnJ
This device is wired in parallel to your panel, and does not have a "load" rating. Once installed, it will provide protection for all equipment installed on the same panel.
